I have owned a few headsets before, predominantly to use while creating voice-over presentations or while participating in online meetings, but found them to be uncomfortable over a lengthy period of time or lacking in microphone or speaker quality. On the contrary to my prior experiences with other brands, this Corsair headset is very comfortable and I particularly like the way the ear cup encompasses the entire ear (which helps block out external noise). The microphone quality is good and the speakers are great. Another nice feature is that the ear cups rotate in and the microphone flips up, making them easy enough to slip into a travel bag or backpack.
Now, with all that being said, there were a few things that seemed a little odd to me given other experiences I have had with some other headphone/microphone combo devices. First, the headphones are packaged with a USB-A to USB-C cable. While I can appreciate the need to accommodate legacy computers, the computer (laptop) on which I was planning to use these headphones only has USB-C ports. That means I need an adapter as one did not ship with the unit. When I did plug the headphones into another computer, the computer (Windows 11) did recognize the headphones, but there was no way to use them as the settings did not show them as an audio device. I installed the iCUE software as well, and it did not see the headphones either. The short story there is that they must be used in wireless mode, even if physically plugged in to the computer. This is where it gets even more confusing to me. There was a USB-A wireless receiver included in the box. (Not USB-C, but USB-A.) As soon as I plugged in the receiver, the headphones (and microphone) showed up in my Windows settings (after a few moments given an automatic driver installation). At that point, I was then able to use the headphones and microphone, and the device also showed up in Corsair's iCUE software. There was a firmware update available, but in order to install it, I had to physically plug the headphones into the computer (which was weird considering the headphones did not work through the same cable).
Another thing that was confusing was that it is possible to sync the headphones to your computer by both the wireless receiver (that ships with the headphones) and bluetooth as well. This then creates two separate audio devices in your computer settings, which created some additional confusion for me as one of the devices (via bluetooth) would not allow me to control the volume of the speakers through the dial on the unit. I did not have that same problem, however, when using the wireless connection through the receiver. If I was using a desktop computer, this would probably not be much of a big deal. When using it with a laptop, however, the utility of some of the headphone's features is diminished because, to fully use all the features of the headphones (the volume dial in particular), I need to plug in this 1.5" (approx) USB-A wireless receiver that then hangs out the side of the laptop. (If I wanted to use with a newer laptop that only has USB-C ports, the protrusion would be even longer given the need for a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
The short story is that I am used to the simplicity associated with using iPods with my Apple devices (including my computers) where they connect easily and have all necessary functionality without having to plug any wireless receivers into my computer. I understand that Windows-based PCs function differently, but the setup and use simply is not as seamless as I am used to and would like. With that being said, though, this headset is significantly less expensive than those Apple devices (especially the over-the-ear AirPod Max), so some concessions are not only reasonable but necessary. For the money, this is a pretty solid headset that I will continue to use for work meetings and other related activities. While I realize these are marketed for gaming, they definitely fit the bill for my work needs. Given their comfort and quality of speakers, however, I can clearly see how these would work very well for gaming as well and will probably be giving that a try soon. Four stars seems a little low given the quality and value for the money, but I also would not feel comfortable giving a five star rating with the issues I noted. Maybe, realistically, 4.25 or 4.5 stars would be reasonable to me. If you are looking for a relatively reasonably-priced headset that is comfortable to wear with good sound and a good microphone, this unit is a pretty good option!

I recently received a pair of Corsair HS55 headphones and have been extremely pleased with them. The sound quality is top notch and the design is incredibly comfortable. The virtual 7.1 surround sound capability is great for gaming, and the headband is adjustable so they fit perfectly. I also really appreciate the detachable unidirectional noise-cancelling microphone which helps to isolate my voice and make sure I'm heard clearly. The headset is lightweight, so I can wear it for hours without feeling uncomfortable. The Corsair HS55 headphones have a great fit and finish. They feel sturdy and well-built while remaining lightweight and comfortable. The ear cups are made of breathable material and the adjustable headband fits securely without being too tight. The earcups are soft and the headband is padded, so they don't cause any discomfort even when worn for long periods of time. The microphone collapses upward and out of the way if you ever use them without the mic, and the controls are easy to access. Overall, the fit and finish of the Corsair HS55 headphones are excellent. The Corsair HS55 headphones are an excellent investment and I highly recommend them.

The HS55 Wireless headphones are lightweight, and Bluetooth enabled. I was able to move about the room without losing the signal. The noise cancelling feature does not block all outside noise, it does block most of it. The flip down microphone picks up voice clearly and without distortion. It also mutes when you flip it back up. The headphones are adjustable to fit properly. The top strap is also cushioned. The earpieces cover the entire ear and fit comfortably. There is a lot of adjustability with the playback, you can get it exactly how you need it. The Default setup works nicely. The battery life is up to 24 hours before a recharge is needed. I found I needed to recharge after every other day of use.
The left earpiece has the Type C recharge port and the mute button and a volume control wheel conveniently located on the back of the earpiece easily reached by hand. The right earpiece has the Bluetooth button and the power button located on the back of the earpiece. Both earpieces rotate to flatten the headset for storage.
The CORSAIR HS55 Headset is a nice addition to your game playing arsenal. I would recommend the Headset to family and friends.

Broke after 3 days. Microphone would blast static into the calls. Two different headsets of the same model did this and not my other headsets.

Let me start off by saying how impressed i am with this headset. Coming from hyperx products I was hesitant by not only switching to another brand but going from wired to wireless. My experience in the past with wireless headphones were always bad. But this headset is by far the best headset ive owned.
The headset is light in weight, and it expands out enough to fit my big head. The ear cups go over my ears and they are very comfortable. I also do wear glasses, and this headset does not interfere or bother me while wearing. The mic feels a bit far away for my taste, but on discord my buddies can hear me quite fine. The sound quality is top notch! The standard stereo option, i get good crisp sounds. Now turn up to dolby and wow the sound quality just gets 10 times better.
The install was a breeze, took maybe a minute or less. I can monitor and change my audio settings through iCue. Only thing I wish the software could have is a battery percentage number, but other than that this is a great product.

I love these headphones! Having never owned 'gaming' headphones, I wasn't sure if that meant they could only be used with a gaming device, but figured I'd give them a try since I'd seen people wearing similar style headphones in virtual calls. This was the primary reason I wanted to try them. I do a lot of virtual meetings for work, as we all do nowadays! I have pair of ear buds, but these fall out constantly and don't offer noise-canceling capabilities. They also start to bug my ear after about 20 minutes or so, and I'll have to switch to my laptop's regular mic. My dog barking and bird chirping are so easily heard that way. So, the headphones - very comfortable on my ears. I also love having the mic right in front of my face, although I didn't think that I would. With the ear buds, I find myself speaking louder, wanting to make sure I'm heard on the other end. With these, I can hear MYSELF and adjust the volume. While working from home, when not on a call, I like to have the radio playing. As I mentioned, I have a bird, and if she hears music, she sings - can be very annoying when trying to concentrate on a document or other project. The music sounds niiiice! I have a pair of Sony headphones from a few years back, these are way better. I highly recommend, although I'd get them in black next time.

Great sound -- exceptional comfort

Let me start by saying that I am new to gaming. Over the holidays, I got caught up in the frenzy and was able to get myself a PS5. With that, I purchased a couple accessories: another controller, a controller charger and a couple games. Little did I know that I would need (ok “want”) a wireless headset. I luckily found this Corsair HS55 wireless headset with Dolby 7.1, 2.4GHz wireless & bluetooth.
I was playing a game on the PS5 and the sound was coming from my sound bar. It sounded pretty good - I thought. I put this headset on, I plugged the USB adapter into the PS5 and wham! It automatically transferred to the headset and I was hearing amazing clear sound. I don’t know how this happened, but I was thrilled it was so extremely easy and the sound was exceptional! I didn’t even think about the fact that I had a headset on - it was so comfortable. The microphone can simply be flipped up to mute your online chatting! And there is a volume control on the ear that is also a pre-set equalizer (4 pre-sets) that can be changed with a press. Great sound for sure and so easy to use.
I highly recommend this Corsair HS55 wireless gaming headset! Great sound quality and comfort at a reasonable price.

Good for those invested in Corsair Ecosystem

Overall a decent PC headset, especially for those already invested in Corsair's expansive ecosystem. If you already have iCue installed for fans, keyboards, mice, etc, this headset fits right in.
The headset comes in a nice box with almost all cardboard packaging. It includes the wireless receiver, USB A-C cable for charging via USB-C, and the headset itself.
The headset is built well for the price point. It is a nice and minimal design that looks good with most PC setups. The earcups feel nice. The headset comfort on my head is alright, not amazing but not bad at all.
The headset's capabilities are maximized by installing the icue software on PC. With that, you can change mic settings and EQ settings, as well as disable or enable surround sound. I found the sound to be in line with similar headsets. Works well for gaming. The microphone quality is also in line with similar headsets. For some reason, I could not get the sidetone functionality to work, even on the latest firmware as of this review. The software is very powerful and easy to use with a whole suite of products like fans, keyboards, mice, but overkill for just a headset.
I did not have any issues with wireless reception.
Pros - Good build quality. Clean design. Wireless. Charges via usb-c. Mic muting button or flip up. Integrates into existing ecosystems for many users.
Cons - Comfort just OK. Sidetone didn't work (may be fixed in a future update).
Overall I think for a person who's invested in iCue this headset makes a good purchase. For those without any corsair products, go check it out in person and you might like it.

Okay, this could have been a very different review. I was going to give these a two star rating but I said Corsair wouldn't put out a budget headset that sounds like I have two cardboard boxes on the sides of my head... would they?
I am happy to report that they did not do that (after some tweaking). The first thing is the instructions are a bit interesting. Either my medication has my reading comprehension way down or they need to give more information that is clearer than what is in the provided instructions. For example, going between connecting with Bluetooth or wireless 2.4Ghz with the USB adapter was interesting. Sometimes it would flip between sources and sometimes it wouldn't. No biggie as I said earlier. I'll blame myself for that.
Now, I connected these to three different computers using the dongle (you can connect to a PC via Bluetooth but you will not get any sound so don't bother) The EQ settings were set to the same place on all the computers yet these headphones sounded different on all of them. Could not replicate the same sound quality across the board with all of the computers. Odd but not a deal breaker yet.
My cellphones on the other hand was a experience. My LG V30 makes these headphones sound very, very good when playing music of a few genres (rock, rap, classical and basically anything pre 2005). The daily driver is a Samsung S21 Ultra and let's just say don't bother trying to listen to music via Bluetooth with these. You will be disappointed.
I used the same app on both phones to listen to music on the phones and well, the gaming part holds up but don't try and jam with these on.
If you buy these for gaming you won't be disappointed unless you have had a really good pair of headphones before than I'd spend some extra money and upgrade to a higher model by corsair.
