      Hello Kevin,

Sorry to hear you had issues with noise and the use of a KVM switch. Do know that connected directly to the PC/console wouldn't create this noise from what I've seen. If your keyboard is indeed dead, do contact our team directly right on our site at any time.

I love the compactness of this keyboard! The keys are soft to push, very quiet, many customizable light settings. Highly recommended!

I pretty much exclusively use Corsair keyboards these days. The iCue software that allows programming of each individual key, or to theme the entire keyboard is exceptionally easy to use, and integrates with most 3rd party RGB lit peripherals on the market. This keyboard utilizes the OPX optical-mechanical key switches. What does this mean to you? It utilizes infrared light on each key. When the key is pressed, the light beam is broken and the keystroke is reported to the computer. It doesn't get any faster than that, and these keys are rated to basically last forever. The LED lighting on each key is extremely bright and a pure pleasure to add to your RGB gaming setup, or business setup for that matter. I've tried the keyboard in both work and play situations. It doesn't generate enough noise to be an annoyance in the office/cubical farm, and for games it performed spectacularly! It's the same size as a regular keyboard with the numeric keypad chopped off. The only part that I miss is the roller-volume control that is typical on Corsair keyboards, but it's a fair trade-off to get the smaller size. You can't go wrong with this keyboard, or any of their products for that matter!

No frills keyboard with responsive optical keys

Corsair’s latest TKL (TenKeyless or numberpadless) keyboard sports their new signature OPX keys. First featured on the K100 OPX keyboard, the optical switches found in Corsair’s K60 offer over 150 million (yes million) keystrokes per key. That combined with their linear actuation point, they offer an ultrafast actuation and zero debounce. So how does the K60 stack up against more traditional offers and other key types? First of all, like most Corsair products, this one comes in a nice yellow box. The OPX switches are advertised as the primary selling feature along with the TKL form factor. It’s a highly recyclable box with almost no packing waste, so that’s a plus. Inside you’ll find the keyboard and a USB-C to USB-A cable. Unfortunately there are no USB ports on this keyboard, and at this price point, it would be nice to have a place to put a wireless mouse receiver or something. As far as the keyboard goes, we have Corsair’s excellent lighting, their penchant for using aluminum casings, and solid keycaps (ABS given the feel). The keyboard layout is a standard layout, so replacement caps are easily found. The OPX keys have standard cherry mounts, so pretty much any set will work if you choose to replace them. The keyboard has an excellent weight to it and the aluminum plate makes flex minimal to none and give the keyboard a sturdy and premium feel. The keyboard doesn’t offer anything beyond the standard TKL layout. Function modifiers allow volume and media functions as well as some basic keyboard functions like brightness. Even then, there are few frills here. So what are the OPX switches like? They feel like Cherry MX Red’s with a shorter actuation point. To the point that you have to be careful when depressing or even resting your finders on the keys. For gaming it’s extremely responsive. For typing it takes some getting used to. However, when gaming, it’s extremely responsive. I play Starcraft 2 and I found the ability to spam on this quite high. Although I also found I miskeyed more too. Again, there is a learning curve when using this beyond shooters. CS:GO I found the adjustment was easier. Again, these are really short actuating keys, so your mileage may vary. Corsair’s software allows you to tweak the keyboard to your delight. In iCUE 4 you can create lighting profiles, sync with other profiles, re-assign keys, and disable certain key functions (like the windows key or alt+tab). iCue also allows you to adjust important settings like layout and polling rate. This keyboard by the way supports a polling rate of up to 8000hz, which isn’t enabled by default. 1000Hz should be plenty for all but the most competitive gamer, and keeps CPU utilization to a minimum, but it’s there if you decide you need it. Besides the excellent software, there are multiple lighting effects built into the keyboard. These are cool because they don’t require iCUE. You get 10 built in effects that can be customized and programmed into the keyboard. Some may find the Type Lighting to be cool, but honestly being able to set a static backup color for the backlight and program is a good fallback as opposed to the RGB throw up that used to be the default. So overall the K60 TKL OPX is an interesting keyboard. It’s an excellent keyboard that would be perfect if it had a USB port and PBT keycaps. The key switches offer some unique features, and durability that may appeal to some. My experience was that it took several hours to adjust to their behavior, but now I’m able to type pretty quickly and game effectively. The ultra short throw and no debounce make this keyboard great for any type of gaming. The price and investment in an otherwise no frills keyboard is something that needs to be weighed. There are lots of keyboards at this price segment, so while the OPX switches offer a really unique experience, I’d like to see a bit more. Regardless this is a solid keyboard and offers Corsair’s excellent software, eco-system, and experience.

A good opto-mechanical keyboard for gamers looking to upgrade their setup. Very light activation. Good sound and key feel although not anything out of this world for a Corsair keyboard. If you want deep "thocc" sound you will need to look into custom keyboards

Why is it so freaking loud?

It's very aesthetic, comfortable and has some pretty cool preset RGB settings but there's one issue I'm surprised nobody has really mentioned: this thing is LOUD. Like it almost sounds like you're typing on a typewriter, even when trying to type with very little pressure. Unfortunately I won't be able to keep it because I feel like my neighbors in the next apartment would be able to hear it through the walls at night (yes it's that loud).
