Customers are saying

Customers admire the K70 CORE RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard for its overall quality, pleasant key feel, and attractive RGB lighting. Many appreciate its reasonable noise level, customizable lighting options via iCue software, and comfortable design suitable for extended use, especially considering its price point. However, some customers have reported issues with the software and connectivity. Additionally, a few users have expressed a desire for a wrist rest and noted a minor issue with the volume knob's stability.

    Way too sensitive

Mechanical keyboards are overrated, if you have been used to membrane keyboards for a long time, I would NOT recommend this product. Main issue here is the sensitivity is outrageous! You will activate any key just by resting your hands on the keyboard, you cannot rest you thumb on the spacebar without activating it like It's ridiculous. Furthermore, you can't even feel that you "pressed" the key, it requires such a minimal amount of force to activate that you won't feel it until you see the results on screen. Whether gaming or typing, I found it to be very annoying and actually made me less accurate in both because I was constantly trying to keep my hand above the keys at all times so that I wouldn't accidently press them. I simply cannot use this, I went back to my beat up, gross old K55 but I don't have any unintended key presses while writing this review, and it feels nice to be able to relax my hands again by resting my fingers on the keycaps.

The switches suck. Specifically , this keyboard suffers from Key Chatter. I had to exchange this keyboard multiple times before I had one that worked. Googling around, this is a common occurrence. This key chatter meant that it was impossible to type without typos. Once I finally got a unit that worked, I loved it. Volume knob is great, color and feel is great as well. But seriously Corsair, fix the chatter.

      Hi,

Sorry to hear about your experience. We recommend users to update their K70 CORE's firmware to the latest version via iCUE, which should prevent any key chatter. If you have any questions or encounter any other issues, please reach out to support via our website - we'd be happy to assist.

Double registers keystrokes. Tried downloading the icue software. Pc flagged it as a virus. I still downloaded it and updated the firmware. Still double registers keystrokes. I type 80wpm and I just can't accept so many mechanical errors. Money down the drain. Yes its a gaming keyboard but it still needs to type accurately. Purchased the Logitech MX and productivity increased exponentially.

Good feeling mechanical keyboard. However, my reasoning for the low star review is that this keyboard causes too many double or triple typing of letters and numbers and even spaces during typing which causes me to have to keep correcting what I'm typing. I even attempted to type slowly to figure out if it were actually me and not the keyboard and I got the same result.

It decided to have a stroke after a couple of months only for me to have to go back to the keyboard I had replaced (which luckily still worked otherwise I'd have been screwed). In my opinion, there's much better options out there, would not buy this again.

It broke down in exactly 120 days. I just came back from work, keyboard not lightning up, no typing, nothing. It was always double typing, too sensitive, too loud. Just didn't like it, but I guess the keyboard killed itself. Before it was 3 stars as at lest it typed. Now zero stars.

This Corsair keyboard is an awesome keyboard that is perfect for gaming and everyday use. The mechanical keys are lightning fast and accurate resulting in better gaming performance. In terms of overall look and feel this keyboard feels premium aside to the wrist rest which is okay but not great. The Corsair iCUE software enables customization not only of the lights but the dial and the ability to customize the keyboard with macros and use profiles to activate them. iCUE software is very powerful and enables many features through an easy to manage interface. The Corsair software allows you to coordinate your RGB color effects across all Corsair devices with ease and enables in game lighting effects for many top titles. You can also customize the look and feel of the lighting in conjunction with other RGB lights to set a mood for your gaming room. The RGB lights are bright and accurate in terms of color like as with other Corsair RGB products offering the RGB lighting effects. I do wish that the keyboard came with a through USB ports for plugging in mouse pads or other accessories or thumb drives. I also wish that this keyboard and others came with fingerprint readers embedded as more websites and games are supporting Windows Hello which takes advantage of having a reader. In terms of gaming performance this keyboard is lightning fast, and the mechanical keys are very responsive with a reliable feel that can definitely improve your gaming performance especially in moments within the game where milliseconds count. Overall this is a great keyboard, I love the control of the dial and being able to customize it to use it with games or media as needed. Corsairs mechanical switches are among the best and I'd absolutely recommend this keyboard along with others and this keyboard is the best in terms of being the latest with the best features that many other premium keyboards have.

We’ve used a variety of gaming keyboards at different price points and were left feeling like the Corsair K70 Core RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard had some positives to offer, but it also left us feeling like we’d rather spend more for a better overall build quality. The Corsair Red linear mechanical switches did deliver a responsive feel and the key press is fairly quiet. The pre-lubed keys are very smooth and I liked the curvature of the keys across the keyboard. In general, the layout feels good to type on and the RGB lighting looks good. The iCUE software works well to assign keys, alter the RGB scheme, and construct/assign macros. The K70 Core keyboard has plastic components for the volume knob and the case itself which may be fine for some, but I much prefer the durability and weight offered by alternate models that feature metal materials more broadly. I’d recommend stepping up to the Corsair K70 RGB Pro Keyboard for a rather minimal bump in price, but better build quality in terms of material, weight and feel. The K70 Core does have an aluminum top plate, but it is not overly noticeable. If a good sale price comes along for the K70 Core it’s worth considering, but I’d opt for the upgrade to the K70 Pro if you’re a heavy gamer that would appreciate the step up and likely, improved durability.

    GREAT KEYS / MEH KEYBOARD

TLDR: The K70 is Corsair’s latest take on a mechanical gaming keyboard. Mechanical switches with sound dampening are some of the smoothest on the market, but the keyboard is held back by horrible control software. The K70 has a unique tactile feel unlike any other mechanical gaming keyboards that I have. Corsair’s red switch implementation is top notch. I have Cherry switches in my other gaming keyboards and love them. However, I can see why they would turn off some people. Those mechanical switches are quite loud and obtrusive, especially in a quiet environment. Corsair has taken everything that is great about the red switches and made them appeal to a broader audience. Their recipe is nothing short of a resounding success. Corsair has pre-lubricated all the red switches prior to installation. Their actuation is buttery smooth. Smoother than any other red switch implementation I’ve experienced to date. In addition, all switches have 2 discreet layers of sound dampening. What the buyer gets is the feel of mechanical switches with sound only slightly louder than a membrane style keyboard. It is like having the best of both worlds. As rewarding as I find the sound of un-dampened mechanical switches, there is something to be said about these. They work great and even though the click click is muted, it is still satisfying. Another unique feature to the Corsair keyboard is the unique texture of the key caps themselves. Even though plastic, they have a unique, patterned texture that is quite appealing. Many of my other keyboards go for an ultra-smooth key or little, to no texturing. These key caps have a more pronounced pattern that even helps to keep your fingers from slipping during typing, thereby hitting incorrect keys. SOFTWARE This keyboard, like all other Corsair products is managed by their iCue software. It is very comprehensive and can control nearly every Corsair product in existence and also has plug-in options that allow it control a limited number of items from other manufacturers. Slick idea and works decently. Better in theory than actual implementation. Corsair claims on their packaging “Effortless RGB and Macro Control via iCue” iCue is anything but effortless. I have numerous Corsair products that I use on a daily basis, including lighting, RAM, keyboards, and mice. I find the iCue software among the worst, if not the worst from all the manufacturers. I constantly struggle to get the lighting to be the way I want. Same goes with all my other Corsair devices. Every release seems to add more and more bloat. I find Corsair’s primary competitor’s software much better, less bloaty, and more user friendly. NEGATIVES Corsair went out of their way to make an awesome mechanical keyboard, but skimped in areas that helps set its competition apart. The keyboard has a great heft to it and feels very solid. However, it is plastic. ALL plastic. Everything. Unlike Corsair’s competition that has metal construction. Even though the competition has similar heft to the Corsair, their products feel 10x more premium with the billet aluminum construction. Fortunately for Corsair, they chose this keyboard to use their new red switches, because without them, there isn’t anything to set this keyboard apart from its competition. No dual illuminated buttons, nothing. Do I like this keyboard? It is only fair, at best. Do I like the keys? I love the Corsair mechanical keys. They are great to type with. So smooth. All the feel of the mechanical switches without the noise. But the iCue software is frustrating. I find the lighting and mapping controls cumbersome and unintuitive. Additionally, Corsair’s own software is slow to incorporate new hardware. There are more premium keyboards available and better software to be had with those products, but none with those lovely mechanical keys. This keyboard and its features are meh. The mechanical switches are awesome. RECOMMENDED.
