The materials are durable and soft to the touch. I place my TKL keyboard on the pad and my wrists are isolated from the hard surface of the desk. All mouse pads get nasty after a while. I have washed this one several times and it looks as good as new. When I game I place the keyboard in a forward position, close to the monitor. That leaves the entire width of the pad for mouse movement.

The design doesn't look half bad in person and it has a nice texture. It did smell a little when I first opened the packaging but it went away after a few days.
