Amazing Mouse Pad with Great Lighting

Pros- 1) Great footprint. Just the right size for any task including gaming. It is the same thickness as any premium hard mouse pad. 2) Great lighting effects. Bright and extensive selections. 3) USB Pass-Through - While I am not using it currently, this is the main feature that sets this mouse pad apart from the Razer Firefly. 4) The hard surface is very well textured, but my Logitech G502 responds quite well as far as speed goes. I would say that it is more on the control versus speed side of the spectrum if I had to pin it down, but I think they created a happy medium. 5) Very easy software with no apparent glitches that I have noticed. It can link with other Corsair RGB products, but I tend to like the Logitech RGB lineup, such as the G502 Mouse and the G910 keyboard. 6) Even if the lights die in the future, I am sure it will still be a great mouse pad! :) Cons - 1) Expensive for a mouse pad. 2) Very new and lightly reviewed, but it is just a mouse pad. The lights work, the surface is nice, and the USB port is a bright idea. 3) The USB port is encased in a fairly large hump on the front of the mouse pad. I di not find it a problem, but some gamers who have their mice set to a less sensitive DPI may find it intrusive. I found no issues, but I set my mouse at around 6000 DPI sensitivity. It may be a good idea to consider a wireless gaming mouse if you have issues with the USB port and use it for a flash drive, external hard drive, or some other USB device. 4) USB 2.1 - while it is not a big deal, you would expect USB 3.0 Overall- I think it was a great purchase from a very reliable company. If you have the money to burn on a mouse pad and you want cool lights and the only mouse pad I know with a USB port, don't hesitate to pick one of these up!!! I strongly recommend this product!

So, the fact that this mousepad has nearly a 5-star review makes me skeptical that Best Buy is playing with the numbers. Whether that's true or not, it's irrelevant because you're going to wind up hating this mousepad if you're over the age of 13. In short, the biggest problem?Default. Rainbow. Mode. Sure it interfaces with iCUE, and you can customize it to your heart's content... HOWEVER, when that service is not running (during lock screen, system idle, boot, etc.)? Be prepared for a rainbow lightshow that you CANNOT turn off and is utterly the most annoying thing since dialup modems. Be prepared for this to be the worst-styled accessory of your whole desk/battle/workstation. A group of us on the Corsair forum have taken every approach to politely ask the customer service staff to please escalate this to the engineering team, to take FIVE MINUTES to release a version of firmware that just keeps the MM800 lights dark until the iCUE service is started. As an electrical engineer, I've written firmware before and I can assure you the fix would be easier than setting your alarm clock in the morning.... But we've been met with nothing but disrespect, misinformation, or no response at all. It's pitiful Corsair would think this is acceptable. And in all seriousness, and I really don't want the ill-intentions on my conscious... but as a business professional; the product manager for the MM800 should be fired, it is that poor & neglegent of a product implentation. Purchase this MM800 at your own peril. I highly recommend going online and finding a cheaper off-brand version that you can find on many online retailers, and somehow they aren't as incompetent.

It's a really good mouse pad; the texture of it feels nice when moving my mouse around, the color linings are pretty and fancy. However, there's a few bothersome cons with it. The biggest con is that the colors aren't "accurate" so to say. When you set a color of, say, blue, it sets it to blue, but either a light blue, or a dark blue, you can't pick a middle-ground one. And it's very hard to customize exactly what color you want due to this. It isn't "true" colors from the software to the actual pad itself. Not to mention sometimes you lose your customized color settings, and that's very annoying. Another con is that it randomly disconnects for no reason. Then connects again. Don't know why that happens, it just does, and I don't think there's a solution. And lastly the big bump on the top front of the mouse pad? Absolutely annoying when moving your mouse around and the cable getting snagged by it. Just horrible placement, don't know why they couldn't just place it somewhere else instead of the front. Overall, it had potential, and I was excited for it, especially since it was from Corsair, but I'm a bit disappointed and annoyed. I'll deal with it though and still sorta enjoy its aesthetic.

I saw this while watching a youtube of a mechanical RGB keybd and had to back it up to make sure my eyes weren't playing trick on me... an RGB Mousepad??? They weren't and I went oout and bought one today. Installation is a breeze, you pluf it into a usb port. Download the 171mb Cue software from Corsair and install it. Now program you lighting to your taste. *Cue is rather easy to figure out in the non-advanced mode The bottom is covered in a rubber-like textured layer. I have no doubt that it will not slip or move around while gaming like muy cloth ones do.(I tried it for 2 hrs after I got home) The surface is a finely textured plastic and it was not long before I wondered why I never discovered the 'hard' mousepads before. They are amazing! The led effects are beautiful! You can customize color, intensity, and speed even on the basic menu in Cue. I opted for one of the preselected modes and just droped the intensity and speed to my liking. This pad has a USB port that you can plug a device into. two would have been nice but one lets you connect the mouse right to it if you like.

I've been wanting to try out something different. BestBuy happened to have this one on display with the M65 Pro mouse I use and it felt good. RGB might be a little overboard for this type of product but it fits in well with my RGB Crosair mouse and keyboard and my glass side PC case right next to it, plus it was on sale. I've had it for a few weeks now and I'm happy with the purchase. I was surprised to find my mouse glides across this mat with less effort than my previous fabric pads. The only con I can think of is where the cable attaches there is a pretty large box attached and my mouse cord hangs up on it. I think it has to be that large because they have an extra USB port for you to plug your mouse in. In theory, it's good to have that for setups with limited USB ports. However, I have a very clean setup with as few cables showing as possible, so I don't want the mouse cable doubling back with the huge USB connector in plain sight. Some other brands have a more discrete connection to their RGB pad.

I guess it's hard to get excited about a mouse pad, but as it turns out... it's possible. First off, I'm a big fan of Corsair anyway. My keyboard is Corsair, my mouse is Corsair, my PC case is absolutley gorgeous Corsair Crystal Series 570X... heck, even my water cooling solution is from Corsair. The Polaris mousepad feels great under the hand, but that's not an especially amazing feat. What's great is how it looks. It's genuinely cool looking. The software (which is shared by pretty much all of Corsair's peripherals) used to be pretty terrible, but its latest iteration seems stable and is much easier to use, making it fun to experiment with different lighting effects on the Polaris. And it looks very cool. There's also a USB passthrough, which is helpful and pretty convenient. Oh, and did I mention it looks cool? The bottom line is... a mouse pad is a pretty utilitarian thing. Pretty much everyone's got one, and they serve their purpose just fine. But if you're interested in adding a bit of style to your desktop... this helps.

Comparing this RGB mouse pad to the similar Corsair offering I owned for 1 week, I actually prefer the construction of this unit and the quality of the textured surface. The issue always comes back to the software on products like these. It's a matter of adequate design and testing - which usually is lacking. Both companies offer software that is sloppy and less-than-intuitive. Both offer software that clobbers the COM controls on Windows 10 machines and mess with smooth boot-up & shut-down processes... just check the Event Logs. Razer's software has conflicts with Logitech gaming software which I use for their RGB keyboard and their top-of-the-line wireless mouse. I ended up keeping this pad because the standard cyclic lighting scheme is to my liking - no software needed for that - and the action is perfect. I wouldn't have paid full price for it though. If you're sensitive to software compatibility issues and want FULL control, skip this one.

The Corsair Utility Engine application was easy to navigate and set up the Polaris. I have the Rainbow lighting effect on at all times as to take advantage of the incredible lighting effect. One main reason I chose this RGB mouse pad over the Razer FireFly was due to the extra USB passthrough on the mouse pad connection. I wasn't forced to sacrifice a USB port for my peripherals, seeing as I am limited on ports on my laptop. The hard surface of the Polaris works well, as one would expect a mouse pad should. There was little to no friction when gliding my mouse across the mouse pad. The only down side I'd have on this is that there seems to be a sort of rough feel to it. It doesn't hinder the functionality of my mouse in any way. However over time I notice dust accumulations on my pad that stand out. Wiping it with a damp cloth does the trick. At this point its just me being picky

I've always like the hard plastic mouse pads over the cloth ones and this one is by far the best I've had...I used to have the razer firefly and as good as it was the surface seemed too smooth to track my mouse's optical sensor... the corsair's surface is almost like fine sandpaper and has just enough grit on it to have fast optical sensor tracking. And if you love RGB lights this mouse pad can display any color to match your system and has plenty of color cycles to look cool... my only negative of the mouse pad is where the USB cable comes out of the top of the mouse pad is larger than it really should be and on occasions when I'm using my mouse, the mouse cord will catch that piece which can cause issues especially if your play first person shooter games. Other than that small issue this mouse pad is awesome!

I've had this now for a few weeks. It has issues being recognized by my PC. The USB pass through doesn't work all the time, and you can't use it with anything before the CUE 2 software. Which is a big negative in my book. The earlier version of the CUE software worked miles better than CUE2 and was a heck of a lot easier to configure, and was not as bug ridden. I was very disappointed to find out this was not compatible with the older versions forcing me to upgrade the software. The texture of the the mouse pad is great, it's fast, but not too fast. May take some getting used to. The lighting options are great and it looks fantastic when it's working. I really do like it when it's working as intended, but it's buggy. And the software you need for it is buggy as well. This was a purchase I sort of regret getting, but not enough to return it or swap it for something else.

First of all I have to say that I love the grip on the bottom of this mouse pad. On my glass top desk I always had a problem with mouse pads sliding and moving around when playing intense games, but with this mouse pad it had so much grip on the bottom that I haven't had it move at all. The lighting around the edges is awesome although distracting at times. And it makes it very easy to see the edges of your pad when gaming or whatever you are doing in the dark. As for the pad itself it has a pretty good balance between grip and slip. Also has just the right amount of space for when playing FPS games or the like. Overall a very nice pad and would recommend it to anyone. A great value at its price.

Did I need an RGB mouse pad? Not really, but it was only 20 dollars more than a decent heavy duty, large, hard top gaming mousepad, and it includes a USB port and can be synced with other Corsair accessories through the CUE software. I say I'd recommend it to a friend, there's a caveat though. If you are already using another company's RGB hardware, and they offer a competing mouse pad, go there. If the extra money would do anything to improve your computing experience, spend it there. But if you're buying into a full set of Corsair RGB accessories, and have the money to spend, it really ties everything together quite nicely. And it is, genuinely, a very solid, thick, and nice mousepad with a very grippy rubber base that keeps it from sliding around on my desk.

I currently was looking for the cloth one, but this thing went on sale for $20 off. I have everything else Corsair for the iCue software, so I wanted to complete the look and the suite of products. High quality and it works well. I am actually liking the hard one more than I thought I would. Works fine and it has usb pass through so I can daisy chain my other corsair devices through one another to use less usb. Worked right out of the box and works perfect. So far no scratches or anything either, it works like a charm. It is a little big so make sure you have space!

Okay so I tried this mouse pad at the local best buy. I thought it was incredible how easily the mouse slides across the pad. If you have a wireless mouse this is for you!!! because... with a wired mouse that plastic piece at the top of the mouse pad will always hit against your wire. For 60 bucks that is really annoying to have to think about it every time that wires hits that plastic piece. I had to rotate my mousepad 90 degrees to handle it. I don't like wireless mice. So I will be returning this mousepad. Other than that the surface on this thing is incredible and I didn't know mousepads could make mice glide so easily across it. Pros: Large, Mouse slides easily on surface Cons: Not good with a wired mouse due to interference of the chord.

    USB Passthrough! :-)

    Posted
    Skatardude10

The surface itself is liberating. Other than the pad itself, the USB pass-through means effectively this pad uses 0 USB ports. The best part though is that the RGB lighting can serve a very useful function with the Corsair *effects* (3rd party software) engine. Mine is set to change from off to blue to green to yellow to red depending on CPU/System load, combine with an audio visualizer that works great with the lights on the side. So the functionality of the lights showing useful info and USB Passthrough are the two biggest selling points for me. Otherwise, great build, great buy for me.

Pros -simple and easy. just plug it in and you are done. -has a USB slot so you can plug your mouse to the pad. -it lights up all around the pad -nice and strong pad. (it's not those flex-able pads that most people have) -it doesn't use Batteries -my mouse runs smoothly over it. -Stays on all the surface ive placed it on so far. so no slip or slide like some mouse pad. -no delay to my mouse when i plug it into the mouse pad. Cons -you cant customize the lights to one color. -its kinda big, so if you have a small bag that can't fit a 17inch laptop, i dont think you would like this. -Only one USB slot. (the usb slot is to plug your mouse) but it would be nice to have a few more slots on it.

I never knew the difference between a soft and hard mouse pad but I’m never using a soft pad after this. The mouse glides so smoothly over the surface. Having a usb slot so you can plug your mouse into the mouse pad is why I choose this over a Razer product. The RGB lighting around the edge is what truly makes this thing so great. Using the software, not only can you change the color but there are 15 individual zones around the pad that you can control as well! I did an alternating pattern of red and green for the holidays which went really well with all of LEDs around our desks at work

Before you order, check the size. This is a large mouse pad! It has a usb port so you can just plug the pad into your computer, then plug the mouse into the mouse pad. I haven't had any issues at all. If you have a Corsair mouse, you can also use the Corsair Utility Engine (CUE) program to sync their colors. Or, just set individual colors, or turn it off...whatever you want. The mouse pad is solid, mice work great on it, and it has a large area. Much larger than the Razer Vespula (which I also have). It does not have any sort of wrist rest on it, which is good or bad, depending on what you're looking for. Just make sure there's room on your desk for this!

I almost rated this 4 stars because even using the CUE software to change the lighting settings, at times the light appears much brighter on this than on my Corsair keyboard with the brightest light setting. But with a little tweaking of the opacity, I can usually get it to match up pretty well. Is it over-the-top to have an RGB mouse pad? Sure is! Do I regret paying $60 for an RGB mouse pad? Not one bit. If you're going for a flashy setup and wanna match your existing RGB keyboard like I did, then go for it! Worth it in my opinion, but I am easily impressed by shiny rainbow lights, so take it as you will.

The aesthetics of the pad is amazing, the lighting is vibrant and beautiful. However, usability was what made me return the mousepad. Coming from a Qck+ the mousepad was far too small causing me to lift up my mouse more than normal and the USB hub at the top of the mouse pad got in the way too often. The material is a hard plastic so for my use it did not function well. These are my main complaints but they mostly only apply to people who require a large space for lower dpi/sensitivity settings. It is an amazing product and I would recommend it to anyone already comfortable to the size and material, however most of the PC gamers I know would be unable to use this pad.
