Poor quiet, distorted, & buzzing mic monitoring
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never heard a set of headphones with a worse sounding "microphone sidetone"... Meaning being able to actually hear your own voice (critical for gamers playing online). No excuse to have a $330 pair of headphones have such horrible sounding "mic monitoring". I searched online and it looks like this is a pretty common problem this line of headphones has. Returning these immediately.

ABSOLUTELY BAD
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These don't hurt your ears as much as the Virtuoso XT and although they improved comfort, after a few hours they hurt. The mic is terrible and the sidetone for hearing yourself while gaming is the worst I have ever tested. The look and feel is premium but the Astro a50 still sound better and feel better. I will be returning these headphones, they did not last a day in my house.

Corsair Why?
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For over 300 you get a cool looking headset, but really its not as good as it seems. The side tones has you sounding like a robot. The noise canceling doesnt really work since the ear mufs are fabric. And over all its just not there. For over 300 bucks. I better get a perfect headset.

Exceptional Sound!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These wireless gaming headphones are the future. Fully customizable when downloading the app. You can customize the colors around the headphones and the way they are displayed. You can set the tone, and color scheme. The sound is great but could be better. It could use more bass and maybe more volume. The headphones come with an attachable microphone. While in use there were no issues of other players hearing me. The set of headphones comes with a nice storage bag. Uses a USB-C port to charge. Manufacturer states the battery can last up to 60 hrs in one full charge and 6 hrs with 15 minutes of charge. The headphones are compatible with any PC, mobile, or gaming console. The headphones are very comfortable, they have plenty of cushioning around the ears and along the headframe. The noise cancellation on these headphones are solid. It also features Dolby atmos spatial audio which is great while playing shooter games. Overall, the sound and quality of these headphones are great. With fully customizable lights, these are great for any gamer looking to upgrade their headphones.

Excellent Gaming, Movie and Music Headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been fortunate enough to have a lot of experience with several really nice high end gaming headphones over the last decade. So even though I do not consider myself any sort of “audiophile” I do think I have a more informed opinion of headphones than most. I knew I was going to write a review for these when I got them, so the first couple days I wrote down a series of words as they popped into my head while I tested my Virtuoso Max out. My list is heavy, tight, powerful, booming, clear, 3-D, and stays connected. So let me expand a bit on that on what I think are ultimately really good headphones. First impressions were solid. It feels very well built physically. The slide adjustments have several settings that click into place and the largest size is even more than my oversized dome requires. It has a tight stiff feel to it relative to other headphones I have used. I actually was a bit worried that the cup padding wasn’t going to be soft enough as the headphones themselves clamp down fairly firm. The foam padding isn’t that thick and these are the heaviest headphones I think I have ever owned, but fortunately I had no issues with any discomfort. The rest of the box contains the mic, dongle, charging cable, and a pretty decent carrying case. First I connected it to my PS5 to play a little Elden Ring and I thought it performed very well. The sound was excellent, particularly the deeper bass sounds. I was also able to track things in 3D space around me very well. I then moved on to try it out on my PC. I already had the iCUE software installed and it worked immediately once I plugged in the dongle. I listened to some music, watched some movie clips and listened to a podcast. Everything sounded excellent. Next I connected my phone via BT which is when I discovered perhaps my favorite feature. There is a dial on each side to control volume. One controls the volume for the BT connection; the other side controls the connection via the dongle. You can have both connected and playing at the same time with independent volume controls, very nice. The range is good as I could go anywhere in my house and went at least 50 feet away, down a hallway and behind a door. I also have no complaints about the battery life as it seems to be at least the 60 hours claimed. The microphone sounds really good and the active noise cancelling (ANC) is excellent. I called my friend when the complex gardener was just outside my window making some rather loud noise and we had a lovely conversation. I also appreciate the visual indicator of a red or white light at the end of the mic to let you know when it turned on or off. All in all I really like the sound of these headphones. Though I don’t really care, my girlfriend loves that she can change the color of the RGB lights on the outside of the ear cups. I think some people might have some discomfort with the weight and tightness of these, even though I had no problems. Every feature has met my expectations for high end gaming headphones in this price range. I would absolutely recommend them to a friend.

Great design, average sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Corsair Virtuoso Max wireless headset is fine for anyone who wants professional gaming headphones that feel awesome and can connect to multiple different devices (speaking as an intensive PC-Gamer™ with several other gaming corsair products at home as other brands' headsets, testing the product for a full week). Information for purchasers during unboxing: I would like to say that this is my final (re-written) opinion. In the first version of my review, I had no idea where the manual or any information about the headphones was since no instruction booklet was included. A lot of my first impressions revolved around this and it wasn’t until I found out that the manual was available by scanning a QR code on the inside of the box (which I had not found before) that I needed to change things. If I had not looked back at the box or had thrown it out before using my headphones like most consumers would, I would have missed some very crucial information on how these things worked, including some information about the importance of updating the firmware. If there was an actual paper booklet or anything other than a QR code hidden on the bottom of the box, I would not have to go through this. But after the software update and using it for about a week, I can say that the experience is significantly better, however, there are still some features that I am still not too happy with. First off, when you open the box, you are greeted by the wonderful black leather carrying case, the safety information, and the warranty. The carrying case is nice and sturdy which gives me a nice peace of mind if I want to bring this on vacation. When you open the case you get the charging USB type C to USB type A wire, the wireless stick that you plug into your computer if you don’t want to use Bluetooth (or it’s not available in your device), the detachable microphone that connects with a USB type C, and the headphones themself. With great aesthetics, the headphones look to be made out of quality materials and are very comfortable to wear. On the left side, there is a slider to change it from off, wireless mode, and Bluetooth mode, as well as the plug for the microphone. Before I get to the other side, I just want to say, at least for me, the idea of having a microphone that can be separated from the headset just seems to be a recipe for losing and/or breaking things. On the right side, there is a button that can be customized and can also turn on the noise canceling mode, a slider to go to your previous or next song, and the charging port. On the outside of each earmuff, there are dials that on the left, control volume, and on the right, the dial can be customized, just like the button. On the box, there are a couple of very key features that Corsair would like you to know about. First off, it says that there is active noise canceling and I could say that it works pretty good, in a limited capacity. You see, the headphones have three modes: transparency, normal, and noise canceling. Transparency mode makes it easier to hear anything around you, normal mode changes nothing, and noise-canceling makes everything sound a little bit quieter, which just barely counts as noise-canceling. The headsets also come with 50 mm Graphene audio drivers that supposedly “produce incredibly clear, accurate sound”. Now I don’t know if I have been tainted with bad audio quality, but whenever I initially put these headphones on, the audio seems extremely muffled for some reason. Now, this is without any of the firmware that Corsair urges you to download, so after reading the online manual, I downloaded software, did everything it said, and nothing really changed. The iCue firmware allows you to change different settings about your headphones like sound quality, what the buttons do, and how the LEDs on the ears appear. Honestly, I don’t really think I’ll use it. Finally, on the box, it says, “Call out commands clearly over a broadcast-grade omni-directional mic.” If you read that having absolutely no idea what that means or even why it is necessary, I am in the exact same boat as you. Why would you ever need a microphone that captures audio that comes from multiple directions when that same microphone is attached to your face and is going to be pointed at your mouth? It seems completely useless. Now, some of these features aren’t the worst and actually make the experience great for anyone who needs it. As I said before, the headphones have a slider on the left that turns it off, goes into wireless mode, and goes into Bluetooth mode. This makes these headphones amazingly versatile and perfect for any situation. The wireless mode requires you to plug the wireless stick into your computer which makes things beautifully simple. And if you are using anything that doesn’t have a USB type A plug or your computer had all of its USB plugs taken up, you can use the Bluetooth feature which works great. Another feature I find extremely helpful is the battery life. On the box, it says that it can last up to 60 hours and I can tell from experience that it is no joke. I have been able to use these headphones for days on end without needing to worry about the battery life at all. Another thing that you won’t find on the box, but something I specifically find helps is the range of these. I usually find myself having some music or a podcast on in the background while I go around and do other things so not needing to worry about being in the range of my computer is so useful for me. All in all, I think these headphones are great to use and are very comfortable, but I feel like there should have been a little more thought put into customers' experience or some features completely cut out for the sake of not wasting time and energy. I think that for the price, these headphones don’t have the expected quality-price ratio.

Outstanding Bass and Excelent Audio Quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to headphones, I don't care if it is for games or listening to music. What I do care is audio quality. That's where this VIRTUOSO MAX excels and I'm happy that it does, especially considering its price point. The bass sounds spectacular and in some games, terrifying - I say that in a good way and based on my experience with explosions in a game, it felt like breaking the sound barrier, especially when it was set the to booster mode. Subtle sounds are clear and helps with immersing in the game. The microphone is very sensitive and the output very clear with only one exception. Not that it matters to a lot of people, but looks do matter to me. I say that because, I like its design. It doesn't scream GAME when you look at it. That means that you can use it to listen to music through your phone without looking weird as long as the RGB lights are not on. Speaking of phones, you can connect it to yours using Bluetooth and the quality is still very good. However, I found that it is not the best option when connecting to my gaming PC. Every now and then, I would experience some clicks and other static noises and people on the other side sometimes wouldn't understand me. Those issues disappeared when I switched to the included wireless dongle. Maybe the Bluetooth issue is because of the 5.0 version in my computer. One feature that I really like, especially when flying, is noise cancellation. However, I don't look for that in a gaming headset, but this one has that capability. While I still prefer my Sony WH-1000XM4 to listen to music or take with me on a flight, it performs fairly well and it is nice to have some noise canceling in a gaming headset like this. As for comfort which is just as important as audio quality to me, it is well above average, but after two hours or so, I felt it rather uncomfortable. To clarify, I never found one that I could say that was comfortable longer than that. Most people would probably find it very comfortable even for an extended period of time. Overall, my impression is that it has an excellent quality with ATMOS and very good bass, the software is very intuitive, and comfort is great for about a couple of hours. It's easy to recommend. Not getting five stars, but it is a solid 4+.

Big fan of Corsair
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a big fan of the Corsair Virtuoso Max Wireless Gaming Headset. They come in a beautiful leather-like zippered storage case. The setup consists of charging them to 100% with the included 5.9 foot USB_C to USB-A and you can do that directly from your PC if you choose. Plug the wireless USB receiver into your PC and download the iCUE app. From there you will download several updates for both the receiver and the headphones themselves. Be prepared, because these all take a bit of time. I am all about the sound, so next I did the Sonarworks Sound ID personalization test. This tests your hearing through numerous measurements so the software can customize the sound specifically to you. This headset is not just for the PC gamer, but also for PS4 & PS5, mobile devices and Mac. You can easily switch between the wireless receiver and Bluetooth with the flip of a switch on the headset. You can even use the wireless receiver and Bluetooth at the same time, if you have a graphics card that will support that. I love the separate volume control on these - you control audio for the USB receiver via a ring on the left ear cup and the Bluetooth sound is controlled by a ring on the right ear cup. The 2.4GHz wireless receiver provides outstanding big, crisp and clear immersive sound for your gaming conquests. You can also connect via Bluetooth for your music, apps, etc. I connected these headphones to my phone to listen to music and I have to say the sound quality was less than expected, and actually, it was quite flat. However connecting via Bluetooth to my PC for music was quite better. But connecting via the USB receiver is the absolute best for sound - crazy good and I feel that immersion. It wraps all around me bringing me in. That is how it sounds with my PC gaming - immersive. I can hear sounds all around me when playing games and I truly feel that gives me an advantage - I can hear things before I see them. That may be due to the Dolby Atmos and of course the sound personalization. There are many other personalizations that can be made via the iCUE app too. The colors on the ear cups can be adjusted in so many patterns. It actually looks pretty cool, but of course I can't see it while playing and it uses up the charge much more quickly so that expected up to 60 hour charge won't hold true. And of course that is also where you will find the sound personalization test as well as several other settings you can adjust. The headphones are fairly comfortable for me though they are somewhat heavy and they squeeze my eyeglasses around my ears. But it's not something I can't live with. The Corsair Virtuoso Max Wireless Gaming Headset is a great headset for PC gaming. I would absolutely recommend these without question for those looking to upgrade their gaming toolset. These are not making me win more often, unfortunately, but they are making losing more enjoyable! I just have to keep playing to get better and these headphones are a great tool to help me do just that.

Great Sound But Not Perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not too long ago, I got the Virtuoso Max designed for the Xbox system(s). And absolutely loved it! Since I have been playing Diablo IV on PC, I wanted a second headset dedicated to my Diablo PC runs. This is where this Virtuoso comes into play. But something feels “off” about this headset in terms of getting the same awesome sound experience that I experienced with my Xbox Virtuoso headset. Package and Set-Up: The headset comes with a hardshell carrying case, the headset, a detachable mic, and USB dongle, and a USB-C cable. You can technically start pairing the headset right out of the box, but I suggest that you fully charge it first just to be on the safe side. Go to the Corsair site and download the iCUE program that allows you to personalize your listening experience. There is an optional Sound ID feature that tests your hearing while adjusting the results to your listening levels. There is an equalizer that has a few presets such as FPS, Cinema, etc. It is up to you to discover what works for your ears. You can also (via PC) customize your Dolby sound experience. There are also RGB light options for the lights that line the outside of each earcup. You have the option to turn this off completely but I prefer the alluring pulse of the lights. Sound: When the Virtuoso works, it really delivers an insane audio experience. I run a Rogue build in Diablo IV, and hearing the barrage of arrows destroy the crowd of enemies trying to overwhelm me is a depth of audio that I have never really experienced on PC. Hearing the low echoes, the roars and the environmental sounds is a blissful comfort that comes with gaming. I also have been playing Metro Exodus and WOW! My character was in a lookout tower as it was raining outside and the direction of sound was immersive. This is what I live for in my gaming experiences. Since I watch movies on my computer, I used the headset while watching Deadpool and Wolverine. It rivaled my initial theater experience when I saw the movie. There is an issue with the Virtuoso Max that I currently find frustrating. It is the volume limit. There are times where I turn on the headset and the volume are too low despite me not adjusting anything from my previous gaming session and then there are other times where the volume is perfect. The main volume is controlled by the outer ring on the left ear-cup which I love because I do not have to fumble or accidentally touch the wrong dial like on other headsets. On the right ear-cup is the volume for the Bluetooth. It’s a shame that there isn’t a game chat mix control through the right dial. These issues can hopefully be addressed through a future update. Corsair really did a fantastic job with their microphone on the Virtuoso Max. My voice comes through clean and without any distortion. The sidetone is reasonable, preventing me from having to talk loudly to hear myself when talking to others or recording content. Comfort: I game for 4 to 6 hours on most days which means comfort is important. The Virtuoso never got hot around my ears nor did it feel heavy after a while. I did experience some pinch at the top of my head during one session but I will chalk that up to me toying around with the headband shortly before. If you wear prescription glasses or gaming glasses, the cushions comfortably accommodate. No pinching around the temples. Does It Work on PS5 and Others? Yes. I tested this headset out on my PS5 it is incredible. While the PS5 does not have the in-depth sound options or Dolby Atmos like PC offers, the sound direction and effects are impactful. In fact, as I played Black Ops 6, I felt that I had the advantage since I could tell which direction someone above me was running, allowing me to hang back, let them drop down in front of me, giving me the advantage of surprise. What about Xbox, you may ask? I already own the Virtuoso Max designed for Xbox which is the best headset I’ve owned for that system. There was not a need for me to try this headset out on my Xbox Series X. On the box for the Virtuoso, it’s stated that this headset is compatible with the Nintendo Switch but since I do not own a Switch, I cannot give my opinion on that. There’s no doubt that this Corsair Virtuoso Max headset is an elegant headset. It delivers remarkable sound and I feel like it’s meant for that serious gamer who wants the full sound immersion. I hope that the issues that I encountered will be rectified soon.

Take your gaming audio experience to the MAX!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is hard to go wrong with choosing this headset. Corsair has packed a high-fidelity audio system supporting Dolby Atmos in a solid construction that while bulky is not uncomfortable to wear during long gaming sessions. The headphones are compatible with pretty much anything you can think of to connect them offering a wired or wireless experience. Speaking to the structural dimensions these things are bulky. The carrying case they come with is going to take up a massive amount of storage space if you plan to travel with them. For a big head and big ears like mine the size is manageable. There’s a plethora of buttons to tinker with but the control worth calling out is that the volume is adjusted by turning the entire knob of the earpiece. I’ve grown to appreciate this feature though I can’t help but think that if this knob was eliminated the result would be a lighter headset. I mentioned its bulky and that bulk also adds weight. While not uncomfortable, the mesh webbing used to attempt to soften the cushion of these things pulling down on your skull while in use results is not ideal. My one complaint is that I wish these were lighter. There are subtle details that I love about these headphones. For example the labels used to identify Left and Right orientation are on the inner band just above the ear cups but an additional set are also etched into the mesh of the ear pieces in giant lettering. I love this feature. The microphone produces clear audio but I love that it is detachable as these days I’m playing more single-player games than multi-player. The downside of anything removable is that you have to remember where you last stashed it, and while the obvious choice would be the carrying case, I find I tend to scatter it around the house inducing minor panic attacks when I can’t locate it. Another detail that I greatly appreciate are braided USB cables which do a great job in extending the life of the cables as they suffer from the normal abuse that comes from porting them all over the place. On the software front, the ICE control app for Windows is a required install direct from the Corsair website. It would be helpful if this app was included in the Microsoft Store app but it is not. The first thing you will need to do is connect the wireless receiver to the PC then run through the firmware update process. Next do the same for the headphones. There’s a give minute sound test recommended to ensure the best audio experience and I would also recommend installing the Nvidia plugin for AI background noise removal. Tweaking the configuration is simple to do using the ICE control app where another recommended setting is to enable the active Noise Cancellation. The headset is full of lighting effects. Within each cup of the headphones are 4 distinct LED lights that can be individually configured or have patterns configured. These settings can be adjusted by the device hardware with things like Armory Crate, or hard coded by storing specific settings directly into the memory of the headset to ensure your specific lighting effects are not replaced. The lighting controls make for a fun visual when streaming online. There are a few hoops to jump through to enable Dolby Atmos support which works well on Microsoft Xbox and on Windows computers. For Xbox you have to register an activation code through the Microsoft Xbox app that licenses the Dolby Atmos technology. On Windows you have to install the Windows Store App named Dolby Access then run through a few checkboxes in the app for the best experience. It’s well worth the extra steps for content that supports Atmos. Overall this is a great choice for gamers looking for a higher quality audio experience.

Fantastic gaming headset!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is really just a fantastic gaming headset, in line with what you'd expect from Corsair. Right out of the box, it was really easy to pair with my gaming systems and devices. I also was able to easily switch the connection mode between the wireless adapter and straight Bluetooth. Having both is huge so I can use it with even more devices. It also charged really fast and I've used it for a few days now and the battery still indicates it's over 80%. Others can me hear me loud and clear through the mic with no noticeable lag in audio or microphone, which is huge when gaming. The sound quality is also really awesome when combined with the active noise cancelation. It sounds almost as good as my TV speakers. It also has great range from the devices it's connected so you can move around in between matches and still talk to everyone you're playing with. The headphones are also very comfortable for long gaming sessions, so far I've used them for several hours at a time with no discomfort. Overall, I highly recommend this gaming headset.

Premium feel, great sound, nice features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love headsets. I've said in other reviews that I hate having things in my ears. My preferred method of audio consumption is a big set of over the ear cans. I don't think I've ever been this impressed by a pair of headphones that incorporated technology so well while sounding absolutely phenomenal as I have with the Corsair Virtuoso Max. I usually hate having to install an entire software suite just to run one peripheral, but since I already had a Stream Deck (which is owned by Corsair), I figured I'd download iCue, since there were some setup steps that I could perform for the more advanced settings and I was curious as to what integrations there might be. Of course, this wasn't strictly necessary to be able to use the headset as it was recognized by my PC right away. But once I installed iCue and had it recognize my device, I was able to run a program that customized the sound profile based on some hearing tests that determined the sweet spot for the various EQ levels. After that, I added a button to my Stream deck that was a global mic shut off, which is a lifesaver during a Teams call. Speaking of the microphone, the Virtuoso Max has one of the detachable jobs. Usually I dislike this type of setup, since when I'm out and about it's silly to have a microphone sticking out, especially one with a glowing LED at the business end. I also don't like removing it and having to remember where I put it last whenever I actually have to use it. But since this headset is too nice to leave the house, and since I'm currently working from home full time and am in meetings all day, I'm perfectly ok with leaving the microphone in full time. The glowing LED is also something that I wasn't sure that I liked at first, but now find it to be a key feature. You see, when the mic is turned off, the LED glows red, and turns on when the mic is enabled. This is huge if you've ever had to double and triple check your mute settings before telling your wife what an absolute jerk your co-worker is being. I also like that muting from the Stream deck button will toggle the mic LED. I'm not as much of a fan of the fact that when the mic is off and I answer a Teams call, that it will automatically turn on. How do I know that this happens? Besides the visual indicator, a breathy female voice gently whispers the status. When I first put these headphones on, I thought that they felt heavy and that they pinched a little bit below my ears, and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to wear them for very long. However I have spent the last week wearing them all day during work hours, and not only did they not bother my ears in the slightest, but the top of my head also didn't feel any discomfort from the band. And when sliding the headset down to wear around my neck, the earpieces don't dig into my neck. The only annoying bit when wearing them this way is occasionally getting the mic in my nose. Oh, and I've only had to charge the headset once, and it has been going strong for about an entire week's worth of full work days. Using the customized settings to listen to music, I feel like the treble was just on the threshold of being too tweaked up, compared with the default settings, and that the bass was lacking. To test this, I went back to default and threw on some old school drum and bass tracks. The songs I put on had all the bass notes that were burned into my soul during that one rave in Iowa City beautifully recreated, every thump was so clean sounding it was like listening to it for the first time. I guess maybe I need to do some retesting, or the custom settings work better for gaming than for music appreciation. Now that the baseline stuff was out of the way, it was time to play. Jumping into Overwatch 2, I found the 3d sound helpful in locating where shots were being fired from. Then I unplugged the dongle, brought it to my living room, and plugged it into my Xbox Series S because at this point I had been sitting at my desk for way too long. Unsatisfied with the games I had installed, I set up a couple to download, then grabbed the dongle and plugged it into my PS4 (yeah, I don't have the new one yet). After a few minutes of swinging around NYC as everyone's favorite neighborhood webcrawler, I decided that I really just wanted to do some cozy farming, so the dongle got moved to the dock of the Switch. This headset also does Bluetooth, but I already have so many different audio devices paired to my phone. But yeah, having one headset (to rule them all) for gaming is pretty key. Most have been able to do PC and either Xbox or PS, but I'm glad this one does them all. Of course, the iCue stuff only works on the PC. The only thing I found to be a little bit clunky is the volume control. The big silver discs that adorn each earcup is actually the volume control dial, one side for regular mode and the other to control the bluetooth volume. At first I thought they were the coolest thing, and reminded me of the knobs on my dad's old hifi receiver. But using them on Windows, you have to turn them so much to much the dial so little. But this is super nitpicky and doesn't deserve any reduction in score. The accessories that come with are very high quality. There is a carrying case and a nice, long, braided charging cable. I do wish that, instead of a molded insert that takes up most of the room in the case, they would have left a hollow area to put the cable into instead of it living where the headband goes.

Great Headset!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The CORSAIR Virtuoso Max Wireless headset is a very nice sounding, well-built piece of Corsair hardware. The design is really nice and it has a very rugged overall feel. As for comfort, I think they are pretty comfortable overall. I wear glasses and have big ears so I sometimes get pressure points where my glasses touch my ear. Usually, a quick adjustment fixes this issue. Sound is really good. To get the best sound you will definitely want to install the ICUE software if you haven't already. There you can adjust sound settings, rgb etc. You'll want to run this software to set up and update the headset as well. One thing I am not a huge fan of is the non-retractable mic. Maybe I have gotten used to other headsets but I like the option to just tuck away the mic without actually having to unplug it entirely. Overall, I definitely recommend this headset especially if you are already part of the Corsair ecosystem. They make excellent products and if you want a nice sounding headset that flows with your set up, look no further!

Very Good! Outperforms Competition

The Virtuoso line has been a top sounding gaming headset and the Max further improves upon that. The Dolby Atmos inclusion and improved mic make this a much better option when compared to the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro, Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, and even the Audeze Maxwell. I have used all these headsets over the past two years and the Virtuoso Max really shines. However, Corsair does not provide any manuals and the headset is a bit tight. People with larger heads may experience fatigue and some discomfort over prolonged gaming sessions. I noticed that I had slight pain after wearing the headset for more than 4 hours at a time, which is why I gave only 4 stars. Also not having a manual or even listing it on the Corsair website is a pain because I would like to understand all the features of this new headset. Regardless, overall an excellent headset and I plan on keeping these as my daily drivers.

Great Overall sound and build quality but...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a very good headset. I was very impressed with the sound quality, bass, and tone. The soundID profile provided and immersive and rich sound to anything i was doing. My biggest problem however is the weight. After only 2 hours of having it on i began to feel it pressing down on my head. After my game night 2 hours later (a total of 4 hours) my head was in pain and i couldnt find a good position for my headset that relieved the pressure caused by the weight of the headset. Like i said. I was very impressed by the overall design and sound quality of the headset but to have it go from comfortable to very uncomfortable in a matter of a couple hours was disappointing and frankly had me second guessing my purchase. Not worth the price tag unless you plan on taking breaks in order to keep your head from hurting.

Excellent premium wireless headset!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned a handful of wireless headsets over the years, both for console and PC gaming. While I generally prefer wired headsets for sound quality and the fact that there is no battery to charge, there is something special about finding a quality wireless headset. The convenience is unmatched, and the lack of wires in headphones/earbuds is something we have all grown used to. This new Corsair Virtuoso Max headset has been great so far. The build quality is superb, being made out of a lightweight metal. It feels solid in your hands, with no plastic creaks or noise. The headband and earcups have high quality memory foam under a durable fabric covering. The scroll wheels on each earcup are easy to operate and feel smooth. I have also been impressed with the sound quality. Punchy bass and plenty of detail for a wireless headset. While I normally prefer flip-to-mute microphones, I haven't had an issue with this detachable boom mic. The mute button is easily accessible and easy to use. The mic quality is on par with other premium wireless headsets. It's not crystal clear like some wired headsets I own, but the sound quality is plenty good for multiplayer chat, discord, etc. Overall I would highly recommend this headset for anyone looking for a comfortable, premium built, premium sounding wireless headset.
