Customers are saying
Customers admire the VIRTUOSO XT Wireless Gaming Headset for its sound quality, comfortable design, long battery life, and effective Bluetooth functionality. Some customers have noted the headset's weight and that the bass may not appeal to everyone. Others mention the wireless range could be better, the price is a bit high, and the associated software is not great. Overall, the positive features seem to outweigh the negative ones for most users.

$300 headset with $5 ear cups
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In no world should a $300 headset have such horrible and fragile ear cups. I've only had my headset for 4 months and I already have to replace one of them. Thankfully, I'm always prepared for things like this, but seriously.. your flagship headset needs work. I don't recommend this headset unless you're like me and buy all your peripherals through Corsair and only like using one controller software to lessen the load on your PC.

The Best Headset for Gaming and MORE
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROS: - Very premium feel and build - Excellent mic audio quality - Amazing in-game audio when paired with Dolby Atmos - Can be paired to your PC and phone at the same time - Answer calls and still hear game audio at the same time! - Detachable mic with LED to show the mic is on - USB-C for charging/wired mode - Headset pouch included - Can be used with USB cable or headphone cable CONS: - Braided USB cable rubs against shirt and is audible in headset - Music sounds good on PC when you use the equalizer, but not on mobile == BUILD QUALITY == This is hands-down the most premium feeling headset I've used. It is solid and has some serious weight to it, which is weird since it feels very light on your head when you're using it. I can wear this all day without any problem. I appreciate that Corsair includes a headset pouch, but if I was traveling I would prefer to place this in a more study case. While at my desk, I just leave it on a headset stand when not in use or when it's charging. == SETUP == I was having some issues with audio quality when I updated my iCUE software to support the new Virtuoso. Audio (both music and in-game effects) sounded REALLY bad for such a high-quality headset. After uninstalling and then re-installing the updated iCUE, the issue was resolved. Audio quality was great and what I expected. It might have just been my experience, but I would suggest re-installing iCUE just as a precaution. == PAIRING == You can pair the Virtuoso with your PC and your phone at the same time. I use the "slipstream" USB dongle to pair the headset to my PC, and use Bluetooth to connect to my phone. What's really amazing is that I can answer phone calls while gaming, and I can STILL HEAR the game audio in the background of my call! == GAME AUDIO == This is really a gaming headset first, so I want to go over my gaming experience first. While the Virtuoso doesn't have active noise-cancelling, the noise isolation from the earcup material works great! Corsair recommends using Dolby Atmos, and I HIGHLY suggest you listen and install it. In-game audio is really good without it, but for the most immersion you really want Dolby Atmos as well. I'm able to more accurately able to determine how far away an opponent is and what direction they're moving when playing CoD or OW. The new Resident Evil is just SOOO much better with this level of immersion! == MUSIC QUALITY == This is really my only complaint about the Virtuoso, the audio quality feels VERY lacking. When I'm using the equalizer within iCUE, my music sounds great when I'm using my desktop PC. I can customize it based on what I want to listen to. It's a minor annoyance that I need to disable Dolby Atmos to use the equalizer, but if I want to just listen to some music while getting some work done, it's worth it. The problem is that the equalizer doesn't let you save the settings to the headset, so when I pair it with my phone to listen to music, the quality is quite poor in comparison to when listening to music on my PC. == MIC QUALITY == Corsair advertises the microphone as "broadcast-grade", and I really can't argue with them on that claim. My friends said my mic sounded good in-game, but what was really impressive was how well the mic performed in virtual meetings. I actually have a "professional" headset that I used for work, but it's not nearly as comfortable to wear as the Virtuoso. Thankfully, Corsair did such an amazing job with the mic, I now use the Virtuoso for both gaming AND work. == BATTERY LIFE == The Virtuoso is advertised as having up to 15 hours of battery life. I'm getting very close to this number, but it's really going to vary depending on what you're doing. On days I pair to both my PC and phone, battery life will take a small hit. HOWEVER, you can charge the headset and use it at the same time. I'm able to use a USB-C charging block from my phone to charge the headset, while it's still paired with my PC and phone. When the battery starts to get low, you will hear a "battery low" message in the headset. Just connect the USB-C cable, and you can keep playing/working. == BOTTOM LINE == While I won't be using the Virtuoso to just listen to music from my phone, it's hands-down the best gaming headset to keep at my desk. In-game spatial audio is amazing, I can pair it with my PC and phone at the same time so I can answer calls while still playing, and I can use the iCUE equalizer to customize the audio quality when listening to various genres of music at my desk. While the headset feels heaving when holding in your hands, it's SUPER comfortable to wear all day.

Bad set or....
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Maybe I received a bad set was my first reaction. Then, I read other reviews that described the static in one or the other channels appearing after a few weeks of casual use. My grandson noticed this happening after 2 days! I have had great experiences with their case fans and other components and peripherals but will not buy their headphones again to the tune of $270.00 and expect the same quality.

Extremely Premium
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Virtuoso XT is one of the ultimate premium headset options. When you get into this level of premium among gaming headsets, they start to get similar as far as features go. This headset is an exception, however. My favorite features are the separate dual volume control, Dolby Atmos, the premium build, and mic quality. Because this headset offers both its proprietary connection option (slipstream) and Bluetooth, you can connect to two different devices at once. For example, I have the slipstream dongle on my PC with my phone connected via Bluetooth. This allows you to get notifications off your phone while playing games. This is important for me because there are calls I can’t miss. Also, you can listen to music from your phone while still getting audio from your game on your PC. Just nice to have this kind of flexibility. On the headset itself, there are two volume tools. One controls your slipstream volume, the other controls your Bluetooth volume. That makes it easy to manage all your audio sent to the headset. Dolby Atmos is pretty fantastic when I’m 100% sure it's working. The problem is there is no sure-fire indication that you are listening with Dolby Atmos. For example, I play lots of Overwatch and it supports Atmos and even has a setting for it. After downloading Dolby Access and connecting my headset, I played Overwatch in Atmos and it was awesome. The sound is unique and a different experience than what I was used to. Made footsteps easier to hear. The build quality of this headset is mindboggling when you’ve used as many “premium” headsets as I have. Most are made out of mostly plastic and have many low-quality feeling parts. This headset feels insanely well built. You will not be prepared to understand how solid they feel until you hold them in your hands and just see how much metal there is here. Just incredible. For the longest time, gaming headsets have been absolutely terrible as far as build quality goes. These buck that trend. The microphone on this headset is a thousand miles ahead of ANY on the market. The only way you’re going to get a better quality mic on a gaming headset would be to buy a quality standalone mic. This headset’s mic cannot be compared to anything on the market, I can’t wait to see what this causes other manufacturers respond with as far as mic quality because this is head and shoulders above others. Now, there is one negative to this headset. All that wonderful high-end quality feel from the metal has a drawback. It's quite heavy. The headset does a poor job of really hugging your head. When you lean forward with these headsets they want to slide forward over your forehead. They get a bit uncomfortable to wear when doing multiple-hour sessions because the weight of the headsets doesn’t feel properly managed. The earpads just aren’t thick enough. If the earpads were thicker, then the headset could lockdown on your head more and be more comfortable. While this is an important factor to consider, it doesn’t outweigh the positives this headset offers. Absolutely love this, and don’t see them getting unseated for the best headsets for a while.

High expections, Poor outcome
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While feeling sturdy and looking sleek these have to be one of the worst experiences with a pair of wireless gaming headsets. The headset itself slides off while gaming after a min or so. The mic would only pickup the sound of my keyboard but not my voice. I tried resetting and updating the headset with no change. I would highly recommend the Steelseries Artics Nova Pros for a high quality gaming headset.

Poor Quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very excited to get these then sadly found out they have shipped me a factory defective unit. I then returned them and was shipped a new pair, only for them to be the exact same audio wise. Jack of all trade headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: -Dolby Atmos -Battery life -Versatile connection Con: -Pleather foam doesn’t breathe This is an all around premium headset. It has a good build, but light and comfortable. It’s very versatile and can be connected to PC, consoles, and phone via wired, wireless, and bluetooth. It also can be connected to two devices simultaneously. It has good audio and can be adjusted to be better. Dolby Atmos support is awesome. The mic audio is clear but picks up everything. Build This headset feels premium. It looks like it would be tight and heavy, but it’s aluminium and very light and comfortable. The padding is thick and I don’t feel any clamping after wearing it for hours. The pleather foam doesn’t breath, so the ears do get warm after a while. The earpieces have a tight pivot so it doesn’t conform to my head as easily, but it stays in place once I adjust it to fit just right. It’s also a bit shallow so the edge of my ears touch the inside. The detachable mic is also nice, not light and flimsy. The RGB logo is subtle and not overly bright. The controls are on the right, with buttons to control Bluetooth connections and a volume wheel. There’s no volume control to adjust between game and chat audio, and that has to be done in the iCue app. Sound To me, the sound out of the box is fine. The sound seems even across the range so it lacks some bass. You can adjust the EQ within the iCue app. The best feature is definitely the Dolby Atmos for PC. All you have to do is download the free Dolby app from the Windows store and it automatically activates Atmos. In supported games, Atmos sounds great. I can really hear the difference when something is circling around me from a distance. Connections Very versatile. It has wireless connection that can be used with PC or consoles, bluetooth, and wired. It can be connected to two devices simultaneously via wireless and bluetooth. It’s nice to be able to hear the game while being able to hear my phone as well. There wasn’t any noticeable delay with wireless, and has a range about 20-30 ft before the audio starts to cut out. With a wired connection, you get a high fidelity audio if you have a source that supports it. Mic The mic is impressive for such a small headset mic. My voice comes in loud and clear, and not muffled and quiet like typical gaming headsets. It does, however, pick up all background noises in the room so running it through a noise suppression is advised. On voice chat and recording, the mic audio was fine, but I got hissing when I tried it in OBS without noise suppression. With some processing, I can see using this mic for streaming and recording. Battery About 14 hours of use, which is twice the typical headset. iCue I’m used to iCue so I found the app to be fine. You can adjust your EQ, the RGB, and game/chat mix. I wish there was a way to adjust the mix on the headset itself rather than having to open up the app to do so. Overall, it does everything well. It’s well built and comfortable. The audio is great, and can be adjusted to be better. Dolby Atmos makes gaming much more immersive. The mic is clear but picks up a lot of background noises. Battery is twice as good as any other wireless headsets I’ve owned. If you need a jack of all trades for a headset, then this is a worthy choice.

Clean, Dynamic highs, Lows Requires Tweaking
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT headset comes boxed in the tightest, most waste free packaging I've seen in any set of gaming headsets. This is a good move, I feel like all too often the product manufacturers think they have to justify their price tag by making this big elaborate box filled with paper and nonsense that we just toss out. In this case the box is reasonably spartan yet protects the contents very well in shipping. There's a padded cloth bag that they expect you to use when transporting them. It's a very nice bag, but I'm never gonna use this. These are going to stay right here on my desk for gaming. The enclosed cables (usb, 1/8" stereo extension) are really nice cables. They went with a braided usb cable that has some really solid gauge insulation on it with a nice solid connector on each end. The same is true of the wired stereo cable. These headphones can be connected either wired, wireless wifi, or bluetooth. To connect them via wireless wifi you will need to use the packaged usb dongle, which is nice and compact. They advertise that their connectivity is "high-fidelity, low latency, and has exceptional range"...but to be honest. They connected and worked, so I have no idea if they are better or worse than any other wireless headset. As well, you can connect them to both the wireless dongle and bluetooth on your phone at the same time. What matters is the sound. And these headphone produce an extremely clear, very loud sound. Out of the box, with Dolby Atmos enabled, the highs are too high, and the lows are almost non-existent and muddy. I started to panic a bit thinking something was up because these headphones have 50mm drivers, a good 10mm bigger than my previous set of Astros. But when they say that these have double the high frequency range of other gaming sets, they mean it. Clocking in at 20Hz-40,000Hz, when the typical set sits at 20Hz-20,000Hz, you can immediately hear the difference in that high range. It took a bit of discovery to realize that I had to open the Dolby Access app and disable Performance mode, which is designed to accentuate the highs to create a more positional audio experience for shooter games. Once I disabled the Performance mode, and switched to a balanced eq, I was able to cleanly hear some excellent lows and really clean highs. Overall these headphones produce an incredible sound worthy of the pricetag. They are nice and light and well constructed. They feel nice and sturdy and fit on my head very comfortably. The ear pads are nice and soft, but don't vent heat very well. So they get pretty warm on my ears with prolonged use. For a wireless set with a battery inside, I was really surprised by how lightweight they were. The mic boom is removable and has a button on it that enables you to quickly mute with a tap. There's a red light ring on the end of the boom that you can spot that gives you a clear indicator of whether you are muted or not. The RGB feature feels a bit like an afterthought and not real functional. It's basically just a small corsair logo on the back of each earpiece and then the light ring on the mic boom that changes colors. It requires you to install iCUE to get it to work, and truth be told the value just isn't there in having it turned on. It eats a little extra battery over time and you can't see it when wearing it anyway. The headphones have the ability to go to sleep after being laid down for a period of time (which you can adjust), and then will automatically turn back on when you pick them back up. They claim to have about 15hrs of battery life, but I haven't yet had the chance to really put that to the test. Overall, I would recommend these to a friend. Once I figured out how to overcome the overpowering highs and bring out the lows they really do shine. My only complaint is that they do heat up when wearing them and sadly I don't see a way to replace the ear cups later. Perhaps you can, but I'm not prepared to start yanking on them to find out. They sound great, and they are lightweight and wireless. You really can't complain!

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This headset feels like they put all of their effort into the design and none into the functionality. The EQ out of the box sounds terrible and even after messing with the EQ for two plus hours, researching the best settings from other users and just trying to adapt to the sound it sounds like a tin can inside of a tin can. This headset might be worth it if it was $20 not $200.
