Customers are saying
Customers admire the VIRTUOSO XT Wireless Gaming Headset for its sound quality, comfortable design, long battery life, and effective Bluetooth functionality. Some customers have noted the headset's weight and that the bass may not appeal to everyone. Others mention the wireless range could be better, the price is a bit high, and the associated software is not great. Overall, the positive features seem to outweigh the negative ones for most users.

Good.. $270 good? Eh..
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had many corsair products in the past, so I was excited and enthusiastic when I bought these. For some reason I was bedazzled by the unboxing process. The headset itself looks really sleek and fancy, and I like how you can use it as an everyday set of headphones as well as a gaming headset by putting in or pulling out the microphone. The mic itself has great quality, but it doesn't allow you to hear yourself through the mic. The setup process was a little tricky, and iCUE's updated software didn't really help. In an attempt to make it easier to use, they made it more difficult. I've found myself using the mute button a lot, which is rather convenient. However, the light goes on and off with the voice prompt that you can disable if you'd like, so if you turn it off, you won't know that the mic is off until a few seconds later when the voice prompt would've ended. I would prefer it be immediate. Going forward, the build is awesome! I've found that it is a little heavy, but that's fine. It's very comfortable to wear over an extended period of time, but it falls off rather easily. It doesn't hug to your head all that well, but I've tried my hardest to look past this. For those who've read this far, I don't at all want to give a cutthroat review of these headphones, because there are some aspects that are good, albeit not as many as I'd like for a high end gaming headset. Now comes the killer for me. The bluetooth. It's very off and on, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I have a pair of speakers I use in addition to my headset, so I like that I don't have to turn them on, they do so automatically. I just switch the audio output and I'm golden. However, for just about any other device, ie a laptop, or a phone, their connectivity is very off and on. That is, IF you can get it connected. I've found myself reaching for my airpods instead of these for their convenience to use and connect with all of my devices. And to my disappointment, my $160 AirPods can do just about everything that these headphones can. They don't get overly loud, so the AirPods can compete well, and the sound quality is about the same. The Virtuoso XT had some big shoes to fill with the hop in price over the SEs, and to be honest, I don't think it was worth it. If you want to get a high end gaming headset like this that can double as an on-the-go headset, you may as well get a cheaper pair of Virtuosos. If you just want a high end headset, get a pair of Astro A50s. For the price they offer versus what you get, I don't see this being a reasonable purchase for many people's lifestyles. Had I not gone on vacation and gone past the 2 weeks to return them, I definitely would've done so. I tried to love them as best I could, but every turn I had they didn't show up as I had wanted them to.

$50 Headsets sound better than this
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a good buy at all, sound profile is weak, and lifeless, you need to access the app on your computer to tweak the sound, so that means you can have good sound only on PC, which in my book for $270 is a no go.

Great Corsair headset with a tune
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Corsair Virtuoso XT is Corsair’s newest entry into the high end gaming headset market. Competing against other headsets with prices $250 and up takes some doing. Not only do you need to sound better than most pure bluetooth headsets, but also bring killer features for your target audience: gamers. Luckily Corsair doesn’t disappoint. So the first thing that you’ll notice is that the box seems like your standard affair Corsair product. Open it up and you’ll find that there are some nice touches, like a quilted and protected case, USB-C cable, and analogue audio cable that can control volume inline. Beyond that there are leaflets explaining Dolby Atmos for PC and Xbox One, and of course the slip stream wireless receiver. The headset really stands out. There is liberal amounts of aluminum used in construction, as well as steel where flex is needed. The finish is quite nice, and ‘micro perforated’ ear backs hide the corsair logo unless the RGB backlit is powered on making for a subtle effect and debranded look if off. Edges are chamfered and get a bright outline due to that treatment. The ear cups are brushed in a circle. The microphone is detachable and connects via a recessed and keyed mini-usb port (blast from the past!). The aluminum continues here and the chamfered edges as well. Everything feels quite premium, including the supple memory foam earpads. There is a status LED that shows the connection status and battery. The microphone has a green or red LED depending on its activation status. Speaking of earpads, the memory foam is quite comfortable. I played for several hours straight and the headset was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever used. I have a larger head, so many headsets will clamp on my head and cause pain, but not the Virtuoso XT. If you have trouble finding a comfortable headset, this does an excellent job. The leather-like material seems durable enough, but it’s always hard to tell. Controls abound on the Virtuoso, including its own volume control, mode switch, multi-function bluetooth buttons. All this is found on the right earcup. The left has ports: microphone, charging/wired, and wired 3.5mm. The microphone has its own mute button which you can visually identify is active by the microphone’s tip illuminating red. The multi-connection is pretty interesting. I was able to use both the analogue in and slipstream inputs at the same time no problem. This was certainly interesting, and probably not an overly common use case, but it worked. The mode selector switch allows you to turn the headset effectively off when switched to wired mode with no wire connected. The volume switch feels premium and is weighted. It moves the windows volume settings by two notches per step. It takes a while to get a hang of, but it’s super handy. Connection wise, this headset has options. Not only can it use the proprietary slipstream receiver that boasts excellent range and performance (which Corsair is proud of), but also wireless bluetooth. I was able to connect it to my phone and it operated just like a normal set of cans. Coupled with both USB wired and 3.5mm audio, this headset has more connectivity options than you will ever need. Battery life is good, but I’ve only used it for a charge or two at this point. You can easily get several gaming sessions, or a day of music out of it. I like to keep it charged and ready to go, which means the USB-C cable is laying out a lot. Luckily it seems to charge off my spare USB-C charger no problem, which keeps things simple. Thankfully USB-C is finally getting ubiquitous making life easier for consumers and manufacturers both. The software situation of course involves Corsair's prolific iCue software. It not only manages the headset, but the slipstream wireless USB dongle, which can connect other slipstream devices, such as Corsair’s wireless mice. You can adjust the RGB lighting, settings, firmware, and equalizer. The equalizer only works until you install the Dolby Access app, which enables Dolby Atmos for headphones. Normally I’m a bit standoffish when it comes to additional software - but Dolby for headphones is the real deal and pairs extraordinarily well the Virtuoso headphones. I would recommend installing this on either Windows 10 or Xbox one use cases simply due to the equalizers. Why do I think the equalizers are so important? Because out of the box the sound on these headphones is quite flat. The sound has no depth or space to it, and it just feels somewhat dead. This is not the driver's fault, as the 50mm neodymium driver is quite capable - it just needs a bit of tuning for most use cases. The iCue equalizers out of the box all sound pretty rough to me, but the multi-band equalizer allows custom modes - and with just a bit of tuning, I was able to get a really dynamic sound from them. Install the Dolby Access and use any of the music sound modes, and you get even better sound than what I was able to establish with iCue alone. Also Access also has game modes - including performance mode, which does a great job with spatial awareness. Overall this software lives up to the hype. Obviously iCue allows you to sync the rest of your build - which for some might be a big deal. People spend good money on Corsair’s ecosystem to get the best RGB lighting on the market that all works together. iCue does a great job, and version 4 (which this headset requires) is even easier to use. Overall the comfort and build quality of this headset place it in the correct pricing tier. I wish the stock sound (which AFAIK, but cannot test is what you’re stuck with on PS4/5) was a bit more lively, but the equalizer and Dolby Atmos capabilities mean this headset does sound amazing and is quite tweakable. The software is top notch and the integration with Corsair’s ecosystem will sell this headset and it’s subtle RGB lighting alone. I do wish it had a charging dock or other fancy way of repowering, but overall this headset is an amazing piece of kit!

Amazingly Versatile, Top of the Line Headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Build Quality and Design - The build quality of this headset is very sturdy. The frame is aluminum where it matters. The hinges, the band, where the frame connects to the ear piece are all aluminum. The soft leather cushion connects to the only plastic piece I can see, other than the buttons and microphone. Sound - The sound on these is crisp and clear and very high quality. I had no issues hearing in all directions, enhancing my ability to pinpoint where enemy fire was coming from. If you download the Dolby Atmos app for your PC, windows will recognize the device for Dolby Atmos and enhance the surround sound experience. You will have to toggle it off or on in windows, depending on what you’re doing to get the full experience of Dolby, or custom presets of your iCUE software EQ. The volume adjust wheel is very satisfying to adjust and easy to reach. Mic quality - Everyone I talked to had no issues hearing me, voice quality was very reliable. Even when connected to my phone, I had no issues making phone calls. Versatility - The ability to use wired, wireless, blue tooth, as well as corsairs slip stream means you can take these with you and use on whatever device you have whether it’s a game console, PC, tablet, or mobile device. The switch on the right ear cuff lets you easily switch between wired and wireless. Holding down the multi function button lets you connect to bluetooth and use both the slipstream connection as well as your bluetooth connection. I can watch / listen to a video on my phone while still getting volume from my PC. Get a phone call? Mute your pc, take the call on your phone. It’s pretty slick. Comfort - The leather ear muffs are soft and comfortable. The head band also has a soft leather cushion that helps with the weight of the headphones. After several hours of gaming there was hardly any notice the weight of the headphones on my head, only a little warm around the ears. Features - bluetooth, slip stream (multiple wireless devices, 1 adapter). Through the completely redesigned iCUE app, you can adjust the RGB lighting, presets for EQ as well as create your own presets. You can adjust the volume of your mic in your headset so you can make sure your own audio is coming through as intended, as well as mic volume. Other thoughts: It would be nice to have interchangeable earmuffs. I prefer a cloth since it allows the skin to breathe a bit better. The leather is still very comfortable, just a personal preference. Battery Life is a little shorter than most other headphones. My guess is due to the high bandwidth audio its transmitting. When you plug it in while in wireless mode, it seems to still work over wireless, and it only charges the headphones. I have yet to have an issue with them dying on me as I just plug them up when I’m done after longer gaming sessions. The headphones fit a bit loose on my head. As long as I’m sitting upright, I don’t have any issues, but leaning forward I feel like the headphones will fall off my head.

Very disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love Corsair merchandise, unfortunately not this one. Battery dies insanely fast. The Bluetooth is absolute trash. And the distance that I get on Bluetooth is terrible. If I could have a refund on this item, I would get one. Honestly, I would just trade it in for a different Corsair if I could. It’s $300 almost for this headset and you would think that it would be better product.
