Sorry to hear you're experiencing random shut-downs. Is your VIRTUOSO set to the default audio output device? I suggest disabling the sleep timer via the VIRTUOSO's settings iCUE as a temporary solution. Please get in touch with us, we'd be happy to help: support.corsair.com

The Corsair Virtuoso XT is Corsair’s newest entry into the high end gaming headset market. Competing against other headsets with prices $250 and up takes some doing. Not only do you need to sound better than most pure bluetooth headsets, but also bring killer features for your target audience: gamers. Luckily Corsair doesn’t disappoint. So the first thing that you’ll notice is that the box seems like your standard affair Corsair product. Open it up and you’ll find that there are some nice touches, like a quilted and protected case, USB-C cable, and analogue audio cable that can control volume inline. Beyond that there are leaflets explaining Dolby Atmos for PC and Xbox One, and of course the slip stream wireless receiver. The headset really stands out. There is liberal amounts of aluminum used in construction, as well as steel where flex is needed. The finish is quite nice, and ‘micro perforated’ ear backs hide the corsair logo unless the RGB backlit is powered on making for a subtle effect and debranded look if off. Edges are chamfered and get a bright outline due to that treatment. The ear cups are brushed in a circle. The microphone is detachable and connects via a recessed and keyed mini-usb port (blast from the past!). The aluminum continues here and the chamfered edges as well. Everything feels quite premium, including the supple memory foam earpads. There is a status LED that shows the connection status and battery. The microphone has a green or red LED depending on its activation status. Speaking of earpads, the memory foam is quite comfortable. I played for several hours straight and the headset was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever used. I have a larger head, so many headsets will clamp on my head and cause pain, but not the Virtuoso XT. If you have trouble finding a comfortable headset, this does an excellent job. The leather-like material seems durable enough, but it’s always hard to tell. Controls abound on the Virtuoso, including its own volume control, mode switch, multi-function bluetooth buttons. All this is found on the right earcup. The left has ports: microphone, charging/wired, and wired 3.5mm. The microphone has its own mute button which you can visually identify is active by the microphone’s tip illuminating red. The multi-connection is pretty interesting. I was able to use both the analogue in and slipstream inputs at the same time no problem. This was certainly interesting, and probably not an overly common use case, but it worked. The mode selector switch allows you to turn the headset effectively off when switched to wired mode with no wire connected. The volume switch feels premium and is weighted. It moves the windows volume settings by two notches per step. It takes a while to get a hang of, but it’s super handy. Connection wise, this headset has options. Not only can it use the proprietary slipstream receiver that boasts excellent range and performance (which Corsair is proud of), but also wireless bluetooth. I was able to connect it to my phone and it operated just like a normal set of cans. Coupled with both USB wired and 3.5mm audio, this headset has more connectivity options than you will ever need. Battery life is good, but I’ve only used it for a charge or two at this point. You can easily get several gaming sessions, or a day of music out of it. I like to keep it charged and ready to go, which means the USB-C cable is laying out a lot. Luckily it seems to charge off my spare USB-C charger no problem, which keeps things simple. Thankfully USB-C is finally getting ubiquitous making life easier for consumers and manufacturers both. The software situation of course involves Corsair's prolific iCue software. It not only manages the headset, but the slipstream wireless USB dongle, which can connect other slipstream devices, such as Corsair’s wireless mice. You can adjust the RGB lighting, settings, firmware, and equalizer. The equalizer only works until you install the Dolby Access app, which enables Dolby Atmos for headphones. Normally I’m a bit standoffish when it comes to additional software - but Dolby for headphones is the real deal and pairs extraordinarily well the Virtuoso headphones. I would recommend installing this on either Windows 10 or Xbox one use cases simply due to the equalizers. Why do I think the equalizers are so important? Because out of the box the sound on these headphones is quite flat. The sound has no depth or space to it, and it just feels somewhat dead. This is not the driver's fault, as the 50mm neodymium driver is quite capable - it just needs a bit of tuning for most use cases. The iCue equalizers out of the box all sound pretty rough to me, but the multi-band equalizer allows custom modes - and with just a bit of tuning, I was able to get a really dynamic sound from them. Install the Dolby Access and use any of the music sound modes, and you get even better sound than what I was able to establish with iCue alone. Also Access also has game modes - including performance mode, which does a great job with spatial awareness. Overall this software lives up to the hype. Obviously iCue allows you to sync the rest of your build - which for some might be a big deal. People spend good money on Corsair’s ecosystem to get the best RGB lighting on the market that all works together. iCue does a great job, and version 4 (which this headset requires) is even easier to use. Overall the comfort and build quality of this headset place it in the correct pricing tier. I wish the stock sound (which AFAIK, but cannot test is what you’re stuck with on PS4/5) was a bit more lively, but the equalizer and Dolby Atmos capabilities mean this headset does sound amazing and is quite tweakable. The software is top notch and the integration with Corsair’s ecosystem will sell this headset and it’s subtle RGB lighting alone. I do wish it had a charging dock or other fancy way of repowering, but overall this headset is an amazing piece of kit!

Pros: Build Quality and Design - The build quality of this headset is very sturdy. The frame is aluminum where it matters. The hinges, the band, where the frame connects to the ear piece are all aluminum. The soft leather cushion connects to the only plastic piece I can see, other than the buttons and microphone. Sound - The sound on these is crisp and clear and very high quality. I had no issues hearing in all directions, enhancing my ability to pinpoint where enemy fire was coming from. If you download the Dolby Atmos app for your PC, windows will recognize the device for Dolby Atmos and enhance the surround sound experience. You will have to toggle it off or on in windows, depending on what you’re doing to get the full experience of Dolby, or custom presets of your iCUE software EQ. The volume adjust wheel is very satisfying to adjust and easy to reach. Mic quality - Everyone I talked to had no issues hearing me, voice quality was very reliable. Even when connected to my phone, I had no issues making phone calls. Versatility - The ability to use wired, wireless, blue tooth, as well as corsairs slip stream means you can take these with you and use on whatever device you have whether it’s a game console, PC, tablet, or mobile device. The switch on the right ear cuff lets you easily switch between wired and wireless. Holding down the multi function button lets you connect to bluetooth and use both the slipstream connection as well as your bluetooth connection. I can watch / listen to a video on my phone while still getting volume from my PC. Get a phone call? Mute your pc, take the call on your phone. It’s pretty slick. Comfort - The leather ear muffs are soft and comfortable. The head band also has a soft leather cushion that helps with the weight of the headphones. After several hours of gaming there was hardly any notice the weight of the headphones on my head, only a little warm around the ears. Features - bluetooth, slip stream (multiple wireless devices, 1 adapter). Through the completely redesigned iCUE app, you can adjust the RGB lighting, presets for EQ as well as create your own presets. You can adjust the volume of your mic in your headset so you can make sure your own audio is coming through as intended, as well as mic volume. Other thoughts: It would be nice to have interchangeable earmuffs. I prefer a cloth since it allows the skin to breathe a bit better. The leather is still very comfortable, just a personal preference. Battery Life is a little shorter than most other headphones. My guess is due to the high bandwidth audio its transmitting. When you plug it in while in wireless mode, it seems to still work over wireless, and it only charges the headphones. I have yet to have an issue with them dying on me as I just plug them up when I’m done after longer gaming sessions. The headphones fit a bit loose on my head. As long as I’m sitting upright, I don’t have any issues, but leaning forward I feel like the headphones will fall off my head.

I love Corsair merchandise, unfortunately not this one. Battery dies insanely fast. The Bluetooth is absolute trash. And the distance that I get on Bluetooth is terrible. If I could have a refund on this item, I would get one. Honestly, I would just trade it in for a different Corsair if I could. It’s $300 almost for this headset and you would think that it would be better product.

I ignored the one star reviews but sadly they are true. The battery on these headphones die within 5-6 hours hours of use when it says on the specifications that it it lasts for 15 hours. The Bluetooth range is a joke as well as it cuts off from 6-7 feet when it says up to 60 feet wireless. Also there are at times where the headphones sounds very staticky and I would need to disconnect and reconnect them and it's very annoying. Very unfortunate to spend close to $300 when I'm getting the specs of a $30 headset

This review is specific to gaming PC use (Dell XPS). There is a lot to like about this headset. The RGB options, set via the iCUE software, are great looking without being obnoxious or distracting. You also use the iCUE software to control other aspects, such as the EQ (with numerous options) as long as you're not using Atmos or Windows Spatial. In regard to Atmos, the app download is free and though I haven't been able to play a game that supports it, the app itself has some demos that show just how awesome the directional sound is in these. Games sound great, with all the clarity you could want. Friends noted that I sounded better over Discord with the detachable (and RGB) mic. Button placement is easy to get to and use. A scroll wheel for volume and a mute button at the mic base. I was able to use the headset both wired and wireless, using the switch on the headset itself. The only downside is using two USB slots for that convenience. When wireless, there was no appreciable different in sound quality or anything. I haven't had the unit long enough to have battery issues (I tend to ensure my stuff is charged anyway), but you'll go hours without a cable easy. I have a pretty big head, and these headphones are comfortable completely extended. The only thing, and this isn't an issue unique to this set, is I wish the bar on the top was wider - unless you find the right place for the set to sit on your head it can feel like it's driving into your head after a couple hours. All of this, all the cables you could need, and a very nice fabric carrying case, make this an admittedly expensive but great pair of headphones. Note - ensure you are running the latest version of the iCUE software BEFORE hooking up the headset.

In my search for a do it all headset i started with the Virtuoso SE and ended with the XT. 8n between were the Razer Nari Ultimates and the Logitech G Pro X. The XT is significantly more comfortable than the SE. It also truly allows me one headset to do anything. I use it for work meetings from home and the mic sounds excellent and the headset doesnt look out of place in zoom meetings. I can then wear them for gaming or music in the evening, connect the charge cable and ready in the morning. The biggest downside is having to take them off occaisionally. This is not for co.fort or weight, but because the full pmeather earcups do get hot. Ill be looking for a replacement set of Hybrid earpads, and then its the perfect set for me. Expensive? Yes, but it is the only headset I need and i can wear it all day if necessary, and it does it all, gaming, work, movies, and music.

This headset is pretty good nice sound quality and a very comfortable fitting… but it has one problem that kinda gets me annoyed especially when I’m playing a intense fps game… basically it has this auto shut off feature so it can save battery if it doesn’t detect you on the headset well this detection kinda sucks and even tho I’m litteralt talking and using the headset it turns off on me mid game and it does this occasionally I would say every 20 min or so it just turns off I don’t really mind it tbh but sometimes it does get annoying especially when I’m playing a sound cue imp game so this is a solid 3-4 star product :)

Let me begin by saying that I would consider myself an audiophile which for better or worse raises my critical review of anything labeled high-fidelity. So Corsair has made the conscious decision to label this headset expressly as high-fidelity despite being designed for primarily gaming purposes. Let me get the gaming out of the way first. They are lightweight, reasonably well-built, and offer nice clamping force to provide a snug fit. They have a removable mic that has above average audio and are tastefully RGB lit and controllable via Corsair's iCue software. They also include Dolby Atmos capability via wireless and USB which works reasonably well, but is also on the verge of almost being a gimmick. My AirPods Max and Pro spatial audio are far superior which is ironic as neither is a gaming headset. For gaming they are punchy and dynamic which definitely help pull you into the game. Battery life is also pretty decent and can take you through some pretty long 12hr+ marathon gaming sessions. So from a gaming perspective these are great. Now I will talk about the high-fidelity aspect of these purported Hi-Fi headphones. First off, they are wireless and do support Apt-X which is really the only way to get lossless CD quality audio wirelessly as standard bluetooth won't cut it. Of course that is for standard 16/44.1 audio and if you want to step up you will need to go USB or 3.5mm and bypass the wireless aspect altogether. This is all fine, well, and good, but the problem is that the actual drivers don't do any of it justice. Maybe I am being overly critical, but I said from the beginning that this is one area I take seriously if you are trying to move upmarket based on audio quality. As you can probably guess based on my numerous disclaimers I am not impressed. These are in a price class similar to Sony WH-1000MX4 and are not even in the same ballpark. The Virtuoso do not sound markedly better than most $100 headphones. They are marketed around their extended high frequency capability which is funny as the human ear struggles above 16khz for most people. Yes, 20khz and above do provide some 'air' or space that while you can't hear it you can tell a difference. That said highs are pronounced and mids are masked by the bass. Overall imaging is pretty average and can be done as well for less. The do have good dynamic range which can help to make up for some of the other deficiencies. As a reference, my headphones for critical listening are Focal Clear Mg and to be clear I was not expecting anything like that. What I was expecting is something that could compete against the Sony or even Bose QC considering the cost. Long story short, do not buy these thinking they are going to be equivalent to other dedicated headphones in this price class. They are not as they are not neutral or balanced in any way. The bottom line is simple, Corsair makes other great wireless headsets for far less. The value proposition is the biggest problem here. They are trying to sell you on something it simply can only pretend to be.

The Virtuoso RGB wireless XT headset is definitely a contender in the gaming headset market. Particularly if you are already invested in the Corsair ecosystem. To start, the packaging is relatively straightforward, no bells and whistles here, it's packed well without necessarily feeling 'premium'. That said, however, it does come with a soft carrying case, although the carrying case has a very strong petroleum smell that will need to be aired out for a few days to clear it up. Connecting the headset was a breeze. Of course the wireless USB adapter is ideal for using with a PC and the PC immediately identified an connected it without having to change sound settings or defaults. In addition, the headset also supports bluetooth (which is clearly aimed at phones, although it works with a bluetooth capable PC as well), wired 3.5mm headphones jack, and USB. Having all of these options is great as it really lets you choose the platform that you want to use it on. Using the USB wireless adapter I connected it to the PC and fired it up. Sound quality is good, but definitely needs some adjustment in either the Corsair iCUE app or using the Dolby Atmos settings. On that note, this headset comes with a license for the Windows App store version of the Dolby Atmos app which gives you advanced and beautiful sound control over the headset. I would recommend the 'warm' setting in Dolby Atmos or the bass setting in Corsair iCUE as without those options the headset is a little tinny. This isn't an issue with the capability of the headset as it sounds beautiful with either of those options enabled, it's just a software concern. The previously mentioned plethora of connection options really makes it so you can use it for great sound from your phone, PC or most gaming consoles. On the note of comfort, I will say it is less comfortable than some of my equally priced headsets which is unfortunate because in all other ways it performs well. As far as the microphone is concerned it sounds good without standing out. The sound through discord and some other voice platforms is slightly muted if almost 'fuzzy' for lack of a better word. The person can be understood but it's not a great mic. It's an unfortunate thing that it is removable instead of retractable since this is definitely aimed at the gaming market, it is more likely that someone will want to use it than not. The potential for losing the mic is something to be aware of. In addition, the mic connection is a mini-USB connection which is very close physically to the USB-C charging/USB usage port which makes it a little confusing for quickly connecting it. It would have made more sense for it to be retractable, or if it must be removeable, to place them on opposing ear cups. When trying to connect the USB to charge it, almost every time I try to connect it to the microphone port instead if the mic is not connected. The RGB controls are relatively basic, I understand that it is designed to work with other Corsair devices for the different lighting effects, but being that this headset only has two small lights on the ear cups for the corsair logo, it seems a little lackluster. the RGB lighting controls do not control the LED on the microphone itself. The last things I want to cover is the controls. There are separate controls for controlling the volume when connected to USB/wireless/3.5mm vs bluetooth which is a little odd. I dont know why they couldnt make it a single control. The 'power' switch just changes it between USB and wireless, however the manual identifies that switching it to 'usb' is the same thing as 'off' for wireless. Again, I'm not clear on why this has to be a thing. Overall it's a good headset with a few caveats, but there are better options at this price range in the market.

I have had this gaming headset for about 5 days now and I cannot rave enough about it. To start, the audio is so crisp and the latency of the wireless connection between the headset and dongle is near zero. You cannot even tell that you're using a wireless headset it's near-instant feedback from what you see and expect to hear. Let's talk about the microphone quality. For a headset microphone this rivals a typical desktop microphone with bells and whistles. I booted up my twitch stream and instead of using my production level mic I used the mic with this headset. People said it sounded amazing and I tend to agree. Granted it picked up my breathing much more than a studio microphone but for the small form factor its something I expected. I didn't expect the wonderful quality capture that it provides. The only thing that bothers me about this headset is the fact the microphone cannot flip up out of the way and the only way to truly get it out of the way is to disconnect it. Using Surround sound with this headset is surreal as well. If you are looking for a long term investment in a quality wireless headset you should look no further.

    Great Headset Option for Gamers

The Corsair Virtuoso RGB wireless XT headset is an excellent headset option for anyone who games. It's got a high level of versatility in terms of how it can connect. USB Dongle, USB Cable, 3.5mm cable, or Bluetooth... it all works and works well. I have tested this headset out gaming on Playstation, PC, and Xbox as well as simply listening to music or making calls on my phone and almost all of those connections work wonderfully. The only one that doesn't is the Xbox and this headset purposefully leaves Xbox out of all of the instructions for that very reason. On any of those other modes of use, the sound quality is just simply AMAZING with Dolby Atmos. I've used a wide variety of gaming headsets in a wide variety of price ranges and I've yet to experience sound quality of this level outside of my dedicated Xbox headset that also uses Dolby Atmos. Setup is incredibly easy and when you add in the customization via the included iCue software, you can tweak things to be just the way you want and even get the RGB lighting to match your setup. This makes the headset a great choice for content creators due to the high level of detail you can put into matching your look and theme as well as reception on the mic. I would definitely recommend this one to any dedicated PC or Playstation gamer.

Not the worst headset but has good cons

Now im gonna start off by saying this IS NOT a bad headset. BUT... it does have some important problems in my opinion. I bought my first virtuoso SE about 4 years ago. I got the 2 year warranty and after about a year it wouldnt connect wirelessly no matter what i did. So i took it back for exchange and about a year later tho mic doesnt work. Again exchange and a year later the right side speaker gives out. Exchange again. Basically i had a great sounding headset amazing sounding mic no issues but they only last about a year before having some kind of issue. Ijust went to exchange it and its been discontinued so i took the store credit and spent another 100 bucks to get the virtuoso XT. Supposedly the newer and improved virtuoso. Ive had it 3 days and ive already had statc from the speakers OCCASIONALLY and im just now realizing that the charger his to big for the cutout so you have to push really hard or the charger doesnt connect properly. I turned off voice promys so i dont hear "CHARGING" EVERY 10 SECONDS. Dont get me wrong the headset has amazing sound and the mic works great. But if you buy make sure you get the 2 year warranty you WILL need it. Id rather pay $50 a year for a brand new headset than buy one for $250 every year

Good sound, reliable connection so far. No complaints about.the microphone so far frim the people i use it with. Overall comfortable. Too early to opine on longevity.

I rarely leave bad reviews but after long term use I can’t stand these things anymore. Pros: audio great, microphone great. Comfort is abysmal. I have a medium sized head and ears that do not protrude. Average ears. These headphones crush my ears. There must be a half inch of space between the pad and speaker inside. Horrible pain. I bought thick aftermarket pads that fixed the issue but they’re cheap and fall out all the time. The top bar has literally put a dent in my head. Actually dented head. The first pair I had just stopped working altogether but was replaced under warranty. Not to mention they are heavy. Going to go with a headphone with a wider head strap and ear clearance because these are truly terrible.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
