Don't worry about too much. It won't short out the CPU. Did a double take and had to check if the CPU was installed correctly in the LGA socket.

It came with a plastic spreader and a QR code for "Installation Directions". A cell phone is required if you want it. I applied a pea-sized amount at the center of the CPU and reinstalled the cooler.
