Not much to add as this is a classic just like the rest of the Universal monster movies. This movie holds up well even in this age.

One of the most iconic of the Universal Monster films is lovingly documented in this gorgeous Steelbook. Not a personal favorite, but still respect it from a cinematic standpoint. A must-own for fans and collectors, alike.

    Classic for the Ages

With this film, Universal Pictures unleashed its last horror creation onto the world: The Creature from the Black Lagoon. As well as earning its way into cinema history, this movie quickly earns its way into any viewer's heart. I absolutely loved this film! Everything about it is instant movie gold! Who can ever forget the terrifying Gill-man, the courageous David Reed, or the magnificently beautiful Kay Lawrence? There are so many memorable scenes; the one with Gill-man swimming only an arm's length away from the unaware Kay sends shivers down my back every time I see it, and the first appearance of Gill-man golden. This movie is such a classic, and the best thing is that it's just a good, old-fashioned horror film. It's funny, campy in that 1950s kind of way, and genuinely frightening a lot of the time. I can honestly say a perfect night is curling up on a couch, cracking open a bag of popcorn and watching this movie. And you can bring the whole family onto the couch with you, since people of all ages can watch and enjoy this masterpiece. So if you've never seen Creature, go and see it now, because you're denying yourself a real treasure!

    classic monster

The last of Universal's classic monsters &, along with House of Wax, the most beloved of the 3-D films from the 1950's. A research team in the amazon discovers an unusual fossil. The team then goes missing after reporting this amazing find. A second team arrives and soon discovers what the fossil may have once looked like when they encounter the title creature-a monstrous looking man-fish (or Gill-Man, as audiences now refer to him) who can survive both on land and water, who shows his displeasure at intruders to his home. Although the buildup to the creature's appearance may be slow, the tension and underwater photography makes up for it. The creature is a wonderful design (by Bud Westmore) which certainly paved the way for Alien & Predator. The musical score by Hans Salter is also first-rate.

I'm not too into old movies like this, but decided to give it a shot anyway. Not too shabby! The creature costume was actually pretty convincing as far as not looking like a man wearing a creature costume. Loved that this came in 3D, very much made it a better cinematic experience.

This is definitely worth the purchase if you are a Universal Monster fan. This has an additional bonus of 3D if you are a 3D TV owner. For a 1950's film in 3D, the effects were surprisingly good!

My mom and I watched the movie together and it was scary, the swim scene is "SENsual" and never boring. The 3D aspect was pretty good because it made the "Creature" scarier than ever!
