Excellent Crock Pot, Easy to Use

This crockpot worked perfectly. It has a very simple interface but it is all that is needed to operate the device with 4 options for cooking times. You can go for a higher heat and less time or lower heat but cook longer. I made a nice pot roast and chose the higher heat and for the longer time of 6 hours. The pot heated up and perked away and then automatically went to warm mode after the 6 hour programmed time. I had filled the entire 7 quarts with a chuck roast, onions, potatoes, carrots, celery and 3 cups of beef broth. I did follow the recipe to coat the roast with flour, pepper and salt. I’m not good at cooking but it was delicious. The meat was tender and tasty. I could not ask for more from a slow cooker. This unit does have a lid that clamps on so that you could move the entire filled crockpot to another location – this is a useful feature. Also the ceramic crock pot bowl removes from the heater base for easy cleaning. A bonus item was a small ‘Little Dipper’ pot for making sauces like cheese or salsa etc. This item was terrible. Its feet were not level so it did not sit properly on the table. It has 3 feet and I had to add a washer under one foot to make it level. This was minor compared to the bad design point such that the inner crock pot was not removeable. So now you have a part with an electrical cord that you have to very carefully remove the cooked on grit without getting the bottom part wet. Very poor and I don’t recommend this item at all. I won’t take a star off for the bonus item as I do highly recommend the main 7 quart crock pot that is well designed and very easy to use and clean.

    Another fine Crock-Pot product

This slow cook is very large and the locking top is such a great feature. Having the removable pot makes it easy to wash and this cooks as advertised. The most difficult part of having a portable cooker is keeping the lid secure. In the past, I often had to tie something around it to keep the lid in place. The lid locks on this make it so much better. It also really seals the steam and I think it cooks even better than the models without it. I made a fantastic pork shoulder that fell apart after cooking on the low temperature model. The warming mode also worked great to keep the meat warm while waiting for dinner time, without burning anything. This heats up very quickly. I plugged it in ahead of time so that it would warm up while I was preparing the meat and it was already very hot within a few minutes. The smaller pot was wonderful for keeping some cheese dip warm without burning it. The stoneware bowl is not removable on the Little Dipper warmer, so one needs to be careful not to submerse the entire device. If I could change one thing, I would make this removable with future offerings. Overall, this is a great product despite this. The design makes this easy to store with a flat controller. Earlier designs had a protruding control panel. This one is flat and looks great and stores easily in a smaller place. The color is very nice and looks fancy.

I enjoy cooking for my family and coworkers, especially smoking pork butts for pulled pork; which I then take in to work or to the homes of my relatives. My biggest issue with previously owned slow cookers has been carrying it from the car to the building or home. It's a miracle I haven't broken a lid yet, although the reason for that is I often make 2 trips, one just for the lid. With this cooker, the lid locks securely, and that's huge. This also is super easy to use, and the instruction manual comes with a few recipes as well. Finally, the mushroom color of the unit is a muted color, not the same mushroom color as appliances from the 70s, but it does remind of that era and makes me smile thinking back to Mom's cooking. I would recommend this slow cooker to family and friends.

It worked as intended easy interface and plenty of space to cook for a family of 6. Little dipper was a nice freebie but its what you would expect from a freebie

Simple buttons, a locked lid, and the mushroom color goes perfectly and blends in with the countertop. My only thing is there is not a clock timer to countdown, but when it's over, the crockpot will automatically switch to warm mode.

This cooker is big, 7 quart is perfect for large meals and big family dinners. The mat finish is easy to clean and looks great. Unlike standard slow cookers, this unit comes with pre-programmed cooking cycles. For example start at high for 4 hours then automatically switches to low then warm. No need to run home to turn it down or have to deal with burned food because it was on high for too long. Recommend this for anyone who wants a good slow cooker with lots of space for food.

    Good Upgrades

My biggest problem with Crockpot has been the lack of flexibility in programming and also their "locking" mechanisms leave a lot to be desired. Their upgrades have solved these problems - at least to start. You can now program the time in 30 minutes increments instead of being given set hours, though you can still only choose high or low and if you need both you must manually switch it. It does count down the time you've set and will automatically go to warm when the timer finishes which, to me, is a great feature when you're not sure how long you'll be away. I hope Crockpot continues to work on this for added flexibility and to adapt it for use on some of their other products. Now, the locking mechanism, that has hands down improved totally. Once you have it locked down, nothing is escaping that thing. I cannot tell you how many times I've had to wash or even discard a Crockpot carrier bag when the old locking mechanism didn't work properly. I have no doubt now that bag will arrive as clean as it was when I first put the crockpot in it. Overall, Crockpot has always made a good product, they've just improved it to make it much better and easier to use.

Dove right in on using this crockpot. Tossed together an awesome pot roast pile, and using the 10 hour mode, it worked PERFECTLY for when I'd get home from work, with the whole house smelling wonderful! It came out perfect and was SUPER tender and tasty!

    Locking Lid

The locking lid feature is my favorite thing. I always am scared of falling with the croc pot while walking (picture Kevin from The Office). With the locking lid, I am confident that I can travel with this in the car and have no spills.

    A Winner As Usual

This is the 2nd large Crock-Pot I own. This doesn't disappoint at all. ***I like the four pre-programmed settings, and the fact that it includes a 'Warm' setting, to keep cooked food gently warmed. ***The Cook & Carry lid locks very securely, and reliably can be transported without spilling. ***The lid and cooking container are dishwasher safe, top shelf, for convenience. ***I like the color 'Mushroom'. It's textured, which I assumed would be hard to clean food from the surface, but it wipes up easily. ***Even thought the capacity is 7 quarts, it heats up very quickly; maybe quicker than any other slow cooker I've used previously. The only negative is the size of the Little Dipper. It doesn't hold enough dip or condiments to make it worth even getting it dirty. It's 'cute', but quite useless.

Will be returning, the heating portion is very thin and cheaply made. Definitely looking for another one.
