I own two 1st generation 6-quart Crock-Pot Express units. Both are in recall for a new lid as the old lids don't always latch. I decided to purchase a new unit as it has a redesigned lid with a safety pressure release feature. Also, the control panel is much better organized. Upon first use, the pot refused to seal to pressure cook. I contacted Crock-pot support and they wanted to send me a replacement bobber valve. That valve appeared to be functioning OK, so I decided to exchange the unit for a different one. A Best Buy staff member gave us a new one. I took it home and immediately tried a pressure test. In this one, the cover is misaligned and doesn't even go all the way fully to the latch position. It's so far off that even when "sealed", steam escapes from around the edges of the cover, and cannot build pressure. Needless to say, we immediately returned this unit for a refund. It appears that from their first million-unit cover recall, they haven't learned how to make a safe pressure cooker.
