The Crucial 2TB X9 Pro… TLDR: Excellent drive for fast transfers! Pros: > Small, lightweight, super portable. In fact, if you're not careful, you may lose it in a pinch :P > Great transfer speeds… Most of big single file transfers, which were 1GB+, yielded transfer speeds over 800Mbps. Transferring smaller files that measured over 1GB+, yielded transfer slower transfer speeds at around 400Mbps+, but thats the norm for any drive. > It’s an SSD… no moving parts = more durable than traditional hard disk drives. > Any device that has a USB Type C port will almost be compatible with this. I was able to use it with my Apple devices (MBP 14 M2, MBA 13 M1, 11” iPad Pro M1), Android devices (S23 Ultra, Tab S8 Ultra), and Windows devices (Scar 16, Surface Pro 9). Cons: > None that i’m aware of so far yet 🙂 Would’ve been nice to see this be a TB4 (Thunderbolt 4) drive since it's targeted for Macs, which come equipped with multiple TB4 USB Type C ports… That would’ve allowed for better, faster SSDs to be put in for even faster transfer speeds!!! But perhaps one day? As it is, the speeds are already pretty blazingly fast 🙂 Overall, would highly recommend to anyone that is looking for a lightning fast portable drive… Definitely grab this one!!!

This Crucial X9 Pro for Mac 2T external ssd works as described! I love it. I plug it into my iPhone 15pro max and then files can be saved directly onto this Crucial X9 Pro for Mac 2T ssd! It's perfect. I want to buy 2 more! I opted for the Mac version just to keep things simple and yes, it is very easy to use as it is set up to work like plug and play. The Crucial X9 Pro for Mac 2T is fast enough for my MacBook, iMac and iPhone so I didn't opt for the X10. I just went for the Crucial X9 Pro for Mac 2T. I partitioned 1T for my iPhone and 1T for my iMac. That was easy to set up. It's so fast I don't ever feel bothered with the speed because it just works smoothly and in real time. The size is amazing as it fits close onto my iPhone. It's durable. I really couldn't ask for anything more to be done to make this product better.

Transfer speed is great. Paired with my macbook air m4 and its plug and play. Saved a lot on storage from apple. Good alternative. It's also compact and easy to carry.

I was looking for external SSD drive for my MacBook pro and got Crucial X9 Pro 2TB portable SSD made for Mac. It came with Crucial X9 Pro and Crucial 10GB/s USB-C to USB-C cable. I am impressed the sleek design and compact factor of this SSD. It made of anodized aluminum and a rubberized soft-touch base with 65 x 50 mm design. It is plug and play with MacBook pro and it recognized the drive without any installation or additional drivers. It has excellent read / write speed up to 1050MB/s. I was able to register the product by scanning the barcode. I was able to edit photos and videos using Photoshop and Lightroom and it handled large video files without any issues, and it worked faster than any other SSD drives I have used in the past. The data is stored with Apple’s FileVault volume encryption. It has dust proof and IP55 water / dust resistance and drop-proof durability up to 7.5 feet. I was able to copy large set of fields within minutes. I have used AmorphousDiskMark app to test the read / write speed and results are matching close to advertised read speed of 1005MB/s and write speed of 960MB/s. It comes with 5-year warranty. I was able to connect this to iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPad Pro and both recognized this drive. It is much easier to copy the photos and videos from iPhone to this drive quickly. The 4K videos used to take longer time to upload in iCloud copied in few minutes and then I was able to process those vides / photos quickly in MacBook Pro. I am impressed with Crucial X9 PRO 2TB SSD compact size, lightweight and read / write speeds. It is a must have external SSD drive for Apple devices to have extended storage with SSD read / write speeds.

The drive itself is fine. Elegant, quick. Does this have to be more expensive than the standard black x9 pro just because it is pre-formatted for a mac and is 'starlight' colored? Yes, because Mac users are happy to pay more so why not? Could they have provided a starlight or near-starlight colored usb-c cable with it? Yes. Did they? No. They threw in the standard black one because who cares? Well, I do. This is the ugliest combo ever. Does it all work great anyway? So far, yes. I recommend buying just the black one made for Windows, and partitioning and reformatting to your Mac needs, using 'Disk Utility' to do that. I have roughly 1.5TB for Time Machine, 350GB APFS Encrypted, and 150GB ExFat to be readable by both Mac and Windows devices if needed.

So like other reviewers, performance is amazing on this external SSD. I'll say the only might nit I have (and I expect other SSDs may have similar issues) is that it thermal throttles if you're copying a LOT of data to it at one time. In my case, I was on the tail end of copying over 1TB of data to this 2TB unit, and write speeds would drop into the 50-60MB/s range temporarily, then bump back up to full speed, before doing it again 15-30 seconds later. Now for smaller data, it runs non-stop and I don't notice any throttling. But I thought I'd leave this as a minor data point for anyone doing large amounts of data transfers, you may wish to keep this thing cool or in a position where it gets maximum airflow to mitigate any thermal throttling.

It’s just amazing on the physical size of the drive. I love the fact you can store a lot of data on the drive. It’s quiet. I highly recommend!!!!

I was surprised by the size of this SSD, I have a 2 TB sindisk extreme which i bought from Best buy few months back. That was my first portable SSD. Thr size surprised me in avery positive way. But this one is barely half the size and as much data storage. Used few big files to test wirh my mac mini M2p and works like a charm. The storage havr some ore installed link to register the product and some free promotion which can be deleted. If this is in sale definitely a strong buy.

Another solid choice for an external SSD. Good speeds, good storage capacity, excellent form factor (very small and light). Wish it had an activity indicator light. Build quality and performance are on par or exceed its competitors from WD, SanDisk, Samsung, etc.

Really nice. Much smaller than I expected. Have a Samsung T5 that I thought was small and this is 40% less in volume. Easy to set up on my Mac and very fast. Like 400 gigs in 20-25 min. Very happy

I’ve used my Crucial X9 pro for about a year now. It’s worked flawless right up until a couple weeks ago when my MacBook Pro stalled while editing videos on Final Cut Pro. I reset my MacBook Pro and when it came up the SSD wouldn’t doc. I had to use a recovery program to save all the data. I formatted the drive and it still works great

Was able to use on my iMac without one issue, super high transfer speeds, and it is tiny. Would highly recommend!

Great little external SSD drive. I use it to run daily backups of my iMac m4. The installation is quick and easy and Time Machine works perfectly with it. The drive is very small, a little smaller than a credit card. Makes no noise and comes pre configured for Mac. No complaints here.
