I priced out the same specs on building it myself via pcpartspicker.com and the price difference was negligible. You'll want to upgrade the GPU first as it is pretty lacking, but does suffice for the games he plays.

Also it runs vr but it wont be visually appealing. That being said its still a good entry level computer.
