    Purchased the extra wire to have camera film while parked, installers not knowledgeable how to install it???

    Not worth a dash cam install

    The agent was really friendly and thorough, but I ended up taking the installed dash cam off of the center of the windshield and remounting it on my own, including hiding the wire from sight. I regret having paid $ 60 to have a camera stuck on and plugged in straight to the usb.

    Not the greatest install

    I went in and had my dash cam wire ran directly to the battery. Upon leaving I noticed the wire was not hidden very well which I took care of myself. I had to come back the next day I’ll. Learning that my steering controls were not working. Also my amp was not coming on either. I came in and it was fixed right away. I was told the steering controls must have been bumped in the install and the amp got shut off in the settings.

    I been impressed in the past with the Best Buy GEEK Squad TV Wall mount Installations that I was confident that this Full Thinkware U-1000 Dash Cam with Radar and Aux Battery module would be another Professional experience. It was far from it though; I would call it as less then Amateur. I have done enough audio and radio car installations on my own and will NEVER have Best Buy touch any vehicle work in the future. This was my first and is my last. They were provided with (5) Fuse Lead adapters to connect the wiring harness to the fuse block. Instead of doing the easy and correct way to hardwire it in, they did a wire splice to the harness coming out of the block with electrical tap to cover it. These guys did it the hard way, I have no idea who trained them but it could be something for Best Buy to consider, Technician Installation Training. It is also called “Read the Instructions”.

    I was not instructed or welcomed by the front store employees. Waited in line at Geek Squad for 10 mins then someone told me I was supposed to be at a different location for the autocam installation. Very unprofessional. The installer was however nice and made the whole process easy.

    Dash Cam Installation FAIL! I hope to update this rating with a more positive experience but the lack of customer service after this botched install does not offer much hope. I purchased a nice dash cam and the maker recommended "professional installation" to hardwire the camera. The feature I need most in a dash cam is the parking mode but that is the one feature that does not work. The camera is supposed to switch to parking mode when the vehicle is off but it does not. Instead, the camera continues to run as if the engine is on. It was installed on a Saturday and the process took just under 2 hours, but the process had me waiting 30 minutes after the store closed. By noon Monday, I realized the camera parking mode was not working. I immediately called the store where the install was completed and could not get a live person on the phone for 55 minutes. When I finally had a live person, I was required to leave a message. I did not hear back from the correct person or department.

    I paid to have the parking asst . The installer told me check in manual how to use . It said I need to put car in reverce and it should come on ,it does not.

    The installation went well. Unfortunately, customer service was not good. The technicians knew I was waiting around the store but did not inform when my vehicle was ready. I am in need of an additional installation that was not coming up on the website. I was told the technician would contact me to schedule the next installation, via email, the same day as my previous install. To date, I have not heard back. I called the store, no one in Geek Squad answered. I was put in a queue for 20 minutes, spoke with an associate who placed me on hold for another 10 minutes, only to tell report the technician was unavailable. She stated she left another message with the technician and they would return my call the same day. That call never came. My original installation was pushed out 48 hours past my confirmed appointment. I was notified the day before, even though I’d scheduled a week prior. So, the sub-standard customer care seems to be an ongoing concern at this store.

    Poor installation of Car Dashcam

    Had dashcam installed front and rear and with the hardwire kits. Two weeks later, the power cable stops powering on my dashcam. I made appointment to have it looked at another bestbuy location. The guy told me my camera is the problem even though I told him it is not and I wanted to show him how the regular car charging cable powers on my camera. I knew this by trying new mount, camera and car cigaratte lighter cable plugged in to the camera. I wanted to go back to have it fixed but they want another appointment and waiting times and all that. I feel like I wasted installation fee plus tip and all that! I am not saying all bestbuy tech agent don't know how to install dashcam but I think many of them hardly know anything about car dashcams and how to properly hardwire them in to cars. Many warned me not to go to bestbuy for this and they were right.

    When purchasing an installation I asked to have the date and time confirmed so I can write it down. I was told it would be on the receipt. A few days later I’m checking the receipt and I have to enter my phone number for a text code. After 5 attempts the code never came. I then Had to have it emailed. But on my phone I had to close the original email to get the code. Now the code would not work because I had to use the original email, but now I had to close it and the code does not work. After 3 attempts I had to forward the receipt to a secondary email so I can see the receipt and and verification code email opened at the same time. I’m 1/2 hour into just because the sales person wanted to save 2 seconds of his time and could not verbalize the date and time of my instal when I asked. When asked a question, it needs be answered. FYI. I’m still trying to find the date of my installation.

    We arrived 30mins before our schedule. I was ecstatic because I knew it’ll take only a few minutes to get a dash cam installed. But NO! “Angel” was VERY DIFFICULT. I wanted him just to install the cables and I’ll stick the camera on the windshield. It took a total of 4.5hrs because apparently, the filament in the fuse got damaged. He wanted us to buy the part outside bestbuy because “it'll only cost a couple of bucks”. Take note, the camera and cables were bought new and from Bestbuy. But that’s not all. After waiting 2hrs, i had it. I told him look, i can’t wait any more. I asked for the cables to be removed if that’s the only solution and he said that he has my license plate information and my address. Did he just threaten me?!?! Long story short, very confrontational and the worst customer service, blaming the customer for bad service. Looks like this branch hires people off the streets.

    Not only could they not find my part, i was asked to pay addition parts aside from the installation and after all the clearing up, i had to reschedule my installation. Why weren't they ready to go? The part and service was bought, they should have had everything set up for me to just park and sitting in the waiting room. It might have been an online order, but i didn't have to walk around to the front to get the the dash cam from pick-up and walk around the be back to bring them the part. Customer Service couldn't communicate well with the back. Not only could they not verify that i had installation ready, they had to cancel my order and then re-purchase the cam so that it showed up on Geek Squads computer. I didn't have this much trouble when i installed my back-up camera. At the end, i ended up return it and getting my refund.

    This was already installed in my vehicle. The technician wanted to change me $100 for something that just needed to be plugged in.

    The guy installing was rude from the start. He had a horrible attitude. He never asked for my info to let me know it was ready. I was told about an hour but took longer. Then we i picked up the vehicle, he just handed me the keys and explained nothing. I have to figure out how to pair the dash cam with my cellphone. He did not even connect the dash cam to the battery correctly, it does not stay on when the car is off. Never going back to get anything installed there.

    This people are not professionals i will never go back to that location again bought the camera and they told me about one cable they need it to order for the installation i waited one week no calls from the geek squad. Went back to the store they told me no worries we will call you soon two weeks later no call i went back to bestbuy and returned everything don't want business with this people bad customer service never again.

    Geek Squad Install Services Disappoint

    Purchased 2 dash cams and an install at my local BB. Was told that I needed to go to a different store for the install. Not great, but fine. Then, the initial install appointment was cancelled without a reason provided. The second appointment was then cancelled upon my arrival for the install. Now I am being told that the only BB that can provide install service is not even in my city. Good news is that BB discounted some of the expense. Bad news has been the entire experience other than the discount, plus I now have to go well out of my way to finally finish this install. Not life altering, but never again.

    This is a pretty good deal. They claim they will fix any issues with the install for the life of the device, but it is really difficult to get them to honor that. It's always about getting your money, not honoring the deal
