It was not as great as the first. It just seem like a TV series instead of chronological movie such as Star Wars. There were attempts to link itself to the first movie with dialogue about many fights with humans then it fell off after that scene and then picked up some near the end. I would liked if it had more connection to the first. I love the visuals and some of the plot with also its deeper message of unity through differences, courage and compassion. I can and will watch it again in sequence with the first as a movie night show. I recommend it

You know the special effects are outstanding when you don't pay much attention to them and focus on the plot and characterizations instead. Continuing the storyline from its predecessor you get involved with the ape colony and identify with them more than with the humans. Can't wait for the next film in the series!

i loved Rise of the Planet of the Apes. i thought it was an amazing beginning and really surprised me with just how much i was a fan. this sequel is INCREDIBLE. it broadens the world, shows the evolution of what happened after the last one ended. plus the bonus features that are included in this blu-ray release are worth the price itself! throw in the 3D version and this is a can't miss buy!

I bought this with some movie money, making it a no-brainer for me as I was going to watch 3rd movie anyway. I liked that they have converted it to suit on 16:9 screen; though it does not explicitly state that like 2d; it is optimized for TV. And covers almost all the screen; so no big black bars covering the screen. Big YaY

One of the better movies of 2014. Great mix of drama, action and social philosophy. It's a nice sequel to Rise, better in some respects and definitely a step up from Tim Burton's remake. The action scenes are not just mindless junk to keep the movie going but are logical consequences driven by the plot. The MetalPak case is a welcome finishing touch.

I saw this in theatres and thought it was a fantastic movie! Has everything you need and anyone can enjoy it, even if not an original fan of the older movies. I highly recommend this flick!

I slacked this year. This was one I didn't get a chance to see in the theaters. I still pre-order since it was coming in a special case. Smart move on my part. The movie was really good and also pretty different from what I thought the continuation of the reboot was going to be. A must own in my opinion.

This is one of 2014's best movies. The story is original and creative, not a typical remake / rehash. Every ape in the movie looks astoundingly real. If you liked the first film, you'll enjoy this one even more. Andy Sirkis might be the most talented man in show business. Some of the best visual effects ever.

I really enjoyed the prep that the movie set up for the future installments of this amazing franchise. Andy Serkis is an amazing mo-cap actor that deserves recognition.

2014's best action sci-fi movie. Original and creative story, better than the first film. I enjoyed the movie from start to end, and there weren't any slow or dull moments. No overwhelming nonstop action scenes either. Nice Steelbook!

I started watching the first re-reboot of the movie and enjoyed it enough to pick this up. I like the fact that they are focusing on the apes and not so much the humans, as you see they are more or less replaceable characters and the primates are taking center stage. Good motion capture and over all done. Enjoyable especially if you like the overall Planet movie arch.

The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is an amazing action packed movie. Whether you are a new comer to the series or an old time fan of the movies you will love this. The Steelbook art and package are well made and a great addition to any collector!! I highly recommend this Steelbook!!

I loved the reboot from a few years back, but this outing is even better. Andy Serkis brings great humanity to the simian hero, while Jason Clarke makes a good everyman figure. Lots of action, but also quite emotional at times, the rare sci-fi film with brains and heart.

This is the 3rd installment in the franchise and they don't disappoint, the story continues to draw you into the world of the apes and you get to know what it means to be human again. The acting is top notch and the 3d is beautiful and full of depth. I just love this movie.

Part 2 of the Prequel to The Planet of The Apes series. SciFi fans rejoice. I grew up watching the first Planet of The Apes movies, and always wondered how it all began. Well, here you go. Do yourself a Favor and revisit the old movies, and then watch the two new ones.

I would put a 3.5 stars if I could. Overall, it's a good sequel, good production value, smart and funny scenes, and the CG has come very far. But, because so much of this takes place in the ape community, there is quite a bit of animation and it can get a little cartoon-y for stretches, which I don't like. Mostly, I would recommend seeing it, though.

As a fan of the original Planet of the Apes series, I was hesitate on watching any of the new ones; however, this installment and the previous one have quelled those doubts. I love how this movie is presented from the Apes perspective and draws you into their world.

If you are planning to pick this film I highly recommend picking up the metal pack over the standard blu ray. The acting and the digital effects are really good. The film overall is very life like. The cat ensemble is great and Keri Russell steals the spot light!

Better visuals, and replaces the slow paced boring human portions of the first films with very high quality action scenes. Another great proformance by Andy Serkis is the standout point of this. The apes are the focus of the show. Be prepared for some subtitles.
