I have been very impressed with the remakes of the Planet of the apes series. In fact, I would go so far as to say, I like them better than the originals. Yes the first one with Charlton Heston is a classic and is very good, but I still think these are better. I know they're kind of "re imagining" them but, I don't thing it's hurt the overall story at all. I like the direction they are going.

Motion capture is he way of the future. I found it hard to tell that the apes weren't real at times. The emotion portrayed in the eyes of the actors makes it all very real. Surpasses its predecessor by leaps and bounds. My only warning is it has many subtitles with the apes signing to each other. If that's not your thing it may ruin it. Movie is good enough to overcome that though. Trust me.

I will say that I'm more of a fan of the original 1968 film and it's immediate sequel more so than this current franchise version, but I will say that is is a very interesting take on how the world of the Apes came about. Technically brilliant, the apes will get your emotions going. Great quality blue ray with lots of extras. Must have for VFX enthusiasts!

I missed out the initial release of this on launch day and thought I'd missed out on getting such a fantastic looking steelbook. To my surprise it came back in stock and I grabbed it for $10. The movie itself is a impressive follow-up to Rise's surprisingly interesting prequel. Serkis carries the film with an amazing performance. This may be the high point to Caesar's story. Best Buy: Please take note and re-issue more steelbooks! Collectors would appreciate it.

Awesome sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, probably better than "Rise" and "War OTPOTA", pretty good adaptation of the original "Battle of the Planet of the Apes" ('70s). The visuals and picture quality are amazing, the characters performance is outstanding, and the drama is beautifully executed. Excellent movie, I love it!!!

A virus has decimated mankind. The question is.....Are any humans left alive? An unfortunate meeting happens between the humans and the apes. Further interaction happens which leads to and creates most of the conflict. It is the storytelling that makes this 2nd reboot of the apes saga worth experiencing. The standard Blu-ray is excellent in both the AV and the supplementary package.

I like this movie better than the first two planet of the apes movies. This is a great movie for all the sci-fi lovers in your family. The special effects are awesome and the story line is terrific. I give this movie 5 stars because this movie is excellent. All in all this is a great movie tor a movie night or if you just want to see a great movie with great special effects.

this is better than the last Planet Of The Apes movie where you learned Cesear was to be the leader of the Apes in taking over the Earth. The story is better than the last the excitement that builds in the movie keeps you interested from beginning to the end. If you are a lover of the Planet Of The Apes Movies from the 60's on then you will not be disappointed in this one.

I was really amazed by the effects (and even more by how they accomplished them) and how seamlessly they are blended with actual scenery. The Special Features is worth the price just to see how these films were done. The story is great and they succeeded once again in giving us the story from the apes' point of view. Very nicely done.

In addition to the exceptional advances in what technology delivers, the storyline - the second time around was very well written and acted, by a new generation. I have the entire original "Apes" movies; and am expecting to purchase all of the 2nd series. The stories are all new ideas, but they are packed with plenty of creative scenes, characters and explosive action!

In my opinion Dawn of the Planet of the Apes the sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes is one of the best 2nd movies in a series in a very long time. Think Return of the Jedi, Godfather 2 or X2 X-Men United. High praise I know but very deserving of it. Rise was a very good movie but Dawn was exceptional. This is a great movie to own for any lover of classic film.

Just as good if not better than the first movie, which is hard to say these days about sequels. The apes looks amazing, great action, superb storytelling. I literally almost cried a couple of scenes. Oh yeah, with Caesar, there will be a couple of scenes you will get goosebumps. Why are you still reading this review? Go watch this now i promise you won't regret it!

What can I say that hasn't been said about this movie. I'm a fan of Planet of the Apes film franchise all the way back to the originals minus the one Mark Wahlberg starred in. A good sequel showing the evolution of the apes from the first film and how there were many similarities that apes of the humans. I let my mom watch it and all she does it's yell Cesar!

I wasn't a fan of the original planet of the apes movie series but watched them all after I watched Rise of the Planet with James Franco a couple of years ago. Then I couldn't wait for this to come out. This blu-ray is fantastic. I especially love the work Best Buy did with the steelbook Simple yet classic. The movie is great in 3D.....nice depth (not much pop-out) and it isn't as dark as it was in the theater. If you liked "Rise", you'll like this one.

What a phenomenal summer blockbuster. A lot of fun, with great effects and great story and character development. Just a note on the Blu-Ray itself, if it won't play in your player, try updating your firmware. I thought I got a faulty disc, but when I returned it and got a new one, it had the same problem. I did an update and the problem was fixed.

Okay so, I've seen the original flicks about the apes, and they were okay (though really ridiculous in the movie's execution). But this rebooted version left me cheering for Ceasar like a crazy person. I loved his kindness and wisdom, and the characters in general was great, as was the grounded setting for the story itself, implausible as it is.

I absolutely love this movie. It is the second in what I hope will be many, many more. Visually, it is better than the original version, but with today's technology that's understandable. Surprizingly, the performance that stands out is Caesar's performance. Yes, an ape that can speak steals the movie! I can't wait for the third movie to come out.

Who would have ever thought that this reboot would not only inject new life into the "Apes" franchise but redefine it? "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" was (against all odds) very good, but this sequel is darker, scarier, more focused, and more immerse than any previous entry. This time around Caesar leads the charge... but Koba steals the show.

I"ll keep this spoiler-free, and brief: this film is an excellent one. It's bold, in that its focus and final consequences are out of the ordinary, especially during a time in which "big-budget" too often equates to "predictable". Superb effects, riveting action, important themes - Dawn has it all. Definitely worth your time.

The film has an excellent storyline that sets you up nicely for The War for the Planet of the Apes. The 3D adds a nice dimensional feel to the film and enhances the apes' appearances. I was pleased with the overall effects and an intelligent story. Acting was very good all around. I recommend this 3D film.
