Director Peter Berg and star Mark Wahlberg once again deliver a tragic and thrilling tale of survival and heroism based on true events. Deepwater Horizon is one of two films released in 2016 completed by the duo and their third collaboration to date. Deepwater Horizon is a very well executed film and tension is palpable throughout the entire 1 hour 45 minute runtime. While some people may argue that this film is in poor taste or an exploitation of a disaster, I would counter by saying that Berg's film captures the panic and gruesome mayhem of the events without ever feeling like it is a capitalization for the sake of entertainment. Looking at the technical aspects of the 4K disc, the film boasts terrific audio and visual quality despite being another 2K upscale. If you are a fan of Berg's previous works and can pick it up for a reasonable price, Deepwater Horizon comes highly recommended from this reviewer.

Great Cast and a interesting movie. Based on real events.

Knowing that this was a real event, the movie was still very suspenseful and a great watch. I also saw all the extra features, which were great. They emphasize over and over that you don't ever really see what happens on an oil rig, so a huge part of what made the movie great is all the technical aspects (and business aspects) of running a rig, including how the crew need to rotate in and out. The movie was very character-centric while still full of amazing effects and of course the crazy rig fire. I absolutely want to see it again!

I brought this for my sister.as a gift for Christmas.

After a slow start, this movie roars into a wild rollercoaster story of the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. The special effects are very good, and the movie does a great job of conveying the very difficult and very hazardous conditions that the Deepwater crew faced once the oil well disaster began. The movie is not a substitute for a technical description or analysis of the oil well disaster, but it is a reasonable portrayal for the general public and does a good job of showing the human aspects of the disaster.

Action movie about BP oil spill ".................

Bought the movie based on the glowing reviews of its Atmos track and was simply amazed by it. Movie itself it as alright and since it is based on actual events you already have an idea of what will happen so not much there. Visually the 4K version is excellent as well. Great colors and HDR content but audio is where it really shines. If you have an Atmos setup, I would HIGHLY recommend this as a demo disc. From helicopters flying above to spine tingling explosions, this disc has it all.
