Very dramatic portrayal of how this tragedy unfolded and the heroic efforts attempted to control and stop what took place. If there is any truth to what is depicted, one can clearly see how corporate greed can corrupt operations. Highly recommended for those who enjoy documentary and personable historic films.

Based on the true story of the worst BP oil spill/disaster of all time and those poor souls who lost their lives due to corporate negligence...a must see

As an oilfield employee, it's crazy how something like this could happen at any given moment. So sad to see these guys lose their lives for these companies that cut corners to save a buck. Now after watching I know they made this in memory of those lives lost. I would say that it was about 80% accurate which is not bad for Hollywood. But the downhole camera scenes were probably I big guess as to what was happening down there. But Overall it was a decent movie.

Never knew that such a horrible event could happen. There were some real heroes that saved some people that day. A very enlightening movie. A must see for all of us to understand what can happen when we drill for oil in an offshore environment.

I like movies based on true stories and this one did not disappoint. An excellent portrayal of corporate greed and the fallout - in this case, an oil company and its employees. I felt the lead and supporting actors/actresses did a great job expressing the emotional aspects. Does not have a happy ending.

I hadn't realized what happens out an oil rig begore. Never stopped to think about it. Out of 128 workers on the rig, 11 died. So, there is a lot of fact-based testimony this movie was created from. As I watched, I couldn't imagine all the planning that went into all the developing disaster scenes.

This was such a technically masterful film with it's visual effects and most definitely the sound design being the star of the show. The acting is quite impressive as well. I was BLOWN AWAY seeing this film in theaters.. I highly recommend first viewing it on a big screen with excellent surround sound!

I had read the reviews on the 4k disc ahead of time. And they we're on point. The audio during the action scenes had objects flying around and the water ,oh man it's shooting up everywhere and then the fires were awesome sounding too. It's a great movie based on true events. Worth watching.

Great movie ... action packed ! Based on real people and real events ! I remember when this happened , the press downplayed the this and they only concentrated on the oil spill , honestly I never knew people died !

The movie shows the human side of the disaster. It is pretty clear that the company set the disaster in motion but that is not the point of the movie. The incredible bravery of the people is what makes the movie so riveting. The extras about the making of the movie is worth the price of the DVD.

I have family members who have worked on oil rigs so I thought I would add this to my 4k blu ray collection to see what life on a drill platform was like. It is a great story of what they go through and life on the rig. Great acting and story. Glad I picked it up at Best Buy.

swift and suspenseful action movie, full of noise, peril, muck and fire. It’s also a true-crime story, the highly detailed procedural chronicle of how, on April 20, 2010, 11 people were killed and a vast marine ecosystem was despoiled because of negligence and greed.

To me it was good but it seemed it was over rated by a friend of mine that said how good it was, the beginning to me wasn't a good as it could have been even being based on a true story it could have been better but that's just my opinion, the DVD itself didn't play after twenty minutes and wouldn't let me watch it and I had to take it back and exchange it cause it kept giving an error code and the people at Best Buy said it was messed up

Even though we knew what happened because this story played out on the news, it was still gripping and suspenseful. I had no idea what these workers were having to deal with. Acting was excellent, photography and special effects were unbelievable. Definitely one of my top ten movies from 2016.

We enjoyed this movie on our home 80" 4K screen. Lots of action and the story wasn't too slanted. Wish someone with actual real world experience was in charge of depicting the 'reason' for the blow-up, but outside of that it was good. Liked the cameos at the end of the actual people involved.

Mark Wahlberg outs out another gutsy performance as Mike Williams. I'm sure there is some producer & director creativity in this but all in all this was a well done movie. It should be included in your Wahlberg collection. 4K brings the cinematography and sound to a new level.

This movie deservedly was nominated for sound. The Dolby Atmos tests the limits of your system. The resolution is so vivid it blows away the Blu-ray. The extra "Fury of the Rig" is so informative and entertaining. This is the demo 4K disc to show off your system!

This was one of the worst accidents in recent memory. The after effects lasted years after the oil spill. To this day there's still some signs of oil in some places. This movie duplicates the event and you feel for the people involved and their families that lost loved ones. Great movie!

Well done movie by Peter Berg. Really good acting and great affects. Not sure how close the storyline followed the actual facts of the story, but the movie kept you in a state of tension and wanting to know what was going to happen next. I would definitely recommend this movie to others.

From all the movies that I watched throughout 2016 this was one of the best and a good one to add to your collection. Based on the true story most of us just heard about in the news which displays the greed and profit driven industry without regard for human or environmental impact. Good action and special effects keep your interest throughout the movie. I know I will pull this one out of inventory to watch again at a later date.
