I give Jason a 5-star rating. He wasn't pushy or trying to upsell me. I told him what I wanted in sound and he gave me a sample of the DT tower speakers.

Plays like a much more expensive speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These were replacements for a Bang and Olufsen speaker system. In their day, these speakers were the top of the line. The sound from these Definitive Technology speakers are very, very, very close to the Bang and Olufsen speakers which were over $6000 many years ago. You WILL be very happy with these speakers

Who needs 7.2 channels?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first home theater. I researched myself dizzy, and then headed into Magnolia to listen. I went thinking I'd be happy with Klipsch, only to discover that Klipsch wasn't even included in the Magnolia universe anymore. So, since the customer is always right, I had them bring in some Klipsch towers with the upward-firing channels built in from the Best Buy general population. The Magnolia guys suggested I sample Definitive Technology and B&W for comparison. I opted for a pair of the Definitive Technology 9080st's (steeply discounted in August) and Pioneer Elite SC-LX502 7.2-channel receiver (I chose this because it's fully-funtional, discontinued, and half price). These towers are ridiculous. Each has a front channel and a hight (upward) channel, plus a 455W internally-amplified subwoofer. So the pair provides a 4.2 channel HT system, with nearly 1000W of sub. If you need more sub, then there's something seriously wrong with you. I figure I'll add more channels if I ever feel like I need them, but so far I need nothing more in order to feel absolutely giddy about my HT!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers are amazing! I gave them 4 stars because Definitive Technology tech support is not as knowledgeable as they should be on their product. I only asked what is the recommended RMS power for these speakers and I had to call two separate times for them to quote numbers from a online retailer instead of someone internal.

"I got goose bumps!"
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After LOTS of research, reviews and hours in the Magnolia Demo Room, I purchased the BP9060's, CS9060 and a pair of SR9080's for the rear all powered by a new Marantz SR7010. Let me start by saying this.... it will give you Goose Bumps!! After set up and tweaking the sound to what I like.... I cranked it up by playing the Dolby Atmos Demo found on YouTube and the sound is absolutely AMAZING!! The sound is clean, balanced from speaker to speaker and you can tell these speakers want to be pushed more!! I don't have the A90's yet, bet even without it the speakers surround you making it sound like rain is coming from the ceiling!! We hear sounds we missed with our old set up and love the rich sound coming from the center speaker. If you're loooking for a new set up, you can't go wrong by investing in these speakers!! Would recommend a strong receiver as it makes quite a difference! I started with the Marantz SR6010 and exchanged it for the SR7010... Quite a noticeable difference in sound and clarity.

Def Tech and Yamaha, the perfect combination!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got a pair of 9060's and 9040 center channel driven by a Yamaha 1060 receiver and what a killer combination!!! the sound is amazing!!! and the look, fit and finish is top-notch. Yamaha's musiccast app is a really nice tool to operate the whole system. If someone is looking into these speakers do yourself a favor and listen to them driven by a Yamaha aventage receiver, there is a huge difference and you will be getting the most out of them.

Amazing towers for a great cost
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When the want, need and desire began for me to build my home audio system, the BP9020's very quickly became my jumping off point. For the type of music I enjoy listening to, these towers are perfect! With the built in subs, it saves me having to buy one right away. I love the look and thus far it has completely elevated my listening experience. I plan to get the CS9040 next and some SuperCube's from there!

Excellent music reproduction
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We've been using a pair of BP 9060's for about 8 months now. Loved them in the showroom. Loved them when we first hooked them up. Love them still. I'm not into big movie effects audio or metal or rap. I wanted a speaker system that would reproduce senior citizen music accurately and fully at LOW volumes. A lot of speakers sound great when they are cranked up loud. Try playing the softer passages of music. If you still get a good sense of the lows and of the music's definition, you've got a good set of speakers. The BP definitely sound very good at lower volumes, and of course they sound great at higher volumes, too. I listened to everything the Magnolia store had to offer. We walked out with a pair of these (well, actually they were delivered). I couldn't be happier.

Great sound but wish the cover was durable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound is great except for the unexpected pop that scares me. However the sock that covers them is cheap and has been damaged twice now. And super tricky to change. Wish they made them with a hard cover for better protection. They are heavy so not ones you can keep off the floor from little kids or pets.

Def Tech BP 9080x - Great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased these speakers to replace a set of Def Tech 8060 towers I have had for 2 years. I am using these speakers in a 9.2 ch set up paired with a Denon 6400h. I use this set up for home theater and music. So why upgrade from the 8060s? These speakers were on sale so I made the decision to upgrade so that I could add Dolby Atmos to my home theater set up for programs offering the platform. These speakers are huge, they are about 30% larger than the 8060s and I thought those were large! The installation and set up took about an hour but once I got my Audyssey dialed in I started to sample the speakers. My entire speaker set up is now all from the 9000 series, 9080 CS, 9080 surrounds and 9040 rears. I watched Avatar on DirecTV and I could not believe how much better the system sounded. I tried some Netflix content (Altered Carbon, Lost in Space) and same thing. I then switched to YouTube and watched some 4k programs and they were outstanding as well. The main difference I believe is the tighter bass and true Atmos capability of the 9080s. I have the sub-woofers dialed down and my media room still shakes when there are explosions or other special effects. The frequency gets low and does not become distorted. Once these break in I will dial up the volume and see if I can replicate being at movies! I would highly recommend these speakers. They are expensive so wait for a sale and they are large so make sure your space can handle them.

what are you waiting for?!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was time to upgrade my def tech pro 600 series and like most guys I got carried away with the looking.........once I heard these at the King of Prussia location I was sold! Loud, clear and pin point accurate!! Picked up the center channel CS9060 and also Gem's for the rear. All powered by Yamamha 2050 and just couldn't be happier!!! If you are even thinking about these I would say just get them. At $1100 each they aren't cheap but they are worth every penny!

Excellent surround sound customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased two of these speakers, a pro center 1000, two pro sat 800 surround rear speakers and a Pioneer receiver. All from an awesome sales guy who got me multiple price breaks during the transaction. These are perfect. I am a movie guy and these are what I have wanted for sound for ever. After having these home I received an email add that the speakers had gone on sale and after speaking with Best Buy the are giving me a price match credit for a total savings of $300. These guys are awesome and will get my continued business for life. Thanks again for the great service and my FABULOUS new entertainment system. I am going to take my savings and go by the top units for these!

Incredible Speakers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought these towers after hearing them at Magnolia, totally amazing sound. I paired these with my Yamaha RX-A-3070 which is a high end receiver. 160 watts per channel. I actually want to hear them louder but my receiver won't give enough power to these 455 watt rms giants, so I have to buy a 3000.00 ROTEL 700 watt 2 channel amp, that will give me 350 a speaker, and then we will be talking. Can't wait.

Excellent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers sound excellent! Coming from older Def Tech BP7002, it was a noticeable difference. I don't really notice a difference with Dolby Atmos, but I didn't buy them for that anyways.

The full package
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had these for a year and I am 100% happy. The built in subs make these awesome, but I do recommend using a sub cable into the LFE. This tightened up the bass and produced more “kick.” I recently tried adding a dedicated sub to my setup, which actually did not provide much/any benefit over the built in subs. The subs provide amazingly accurate sound at low volume and do not distort at high volumes. These towers sound so clean and full. If you’re trying to get the best sound for a reasonable price and not take up too much space by adding dedicated subs, you can’t go wrong with these towers. The only thing I don’t like is the cloth wrap. It looks nice, but is a nuisance for cleaning and trying to move them. I think these weigh around 75 lbs, and it’s not easy to move when covered in a stretchy sock with no lift points.
