    Great Little Speakers!

Great small speakers! Have it paired with a ProCenter 1000. Very good blending. I was going to buy the ProMon1000,but the Def Tech web site recommends you pair the ProCenter 1000 with the 800's. These speakers are small, but the fill up my living room with great sound! My space is "14'w x 18' d with and open kitchen/dining area. I also have vaulted ceilings. No problems! Because they are small, they don't distract from the TV.

Should not be compared to Bose

I have a 3.1 system; two of these speakers along with a ProMonitor 1000 center and a 12" Polk sub. These speakers produce amazing highs, but more surprisingly, they produce very good mids. Be warned though, do NOT place anything above them, or else you will lose the mid-bass response. I laugh when people say that they are superior to Bose systems. These speakers should not even be in the same store as Bose. The ONLY thing positive I can say about Bose is that they can produce a high DB level without too much distortion. Definitive also do this, but sound like they cost hundreds more. They are fairly non-directional, not as much so a Mirage, but if someone really wanted non-directional speakers, they would go with Mirage. IMO, Definitive speakers sound better then Mirage for SQ. But these speakers, they are a bargain for $145.00 a piece.

    Great Speaker! Amazing Sound!

I picked up two of these bad boys to go along with my Definitive 600 cinema pro speaker set. I wanted bigger fronts, and have a receiver with height speaker capabilities. I have absolutely no regrets with these speakers. The five way binding posts make connection a snap. Nice compact size and style makes for a clean look as well. The sound is superb. Highs and mids sound so crisp, while bass is smooth a full of impact. They blend so well with the Difinitve subwoofer as well. These speakers replaced some Klipsch bookshelf that I had just got at best buy, and the diffrence is amazing. These are amazing for blu-rays, sporting events, gaming, and music listening. Cant say enough about these little powerhouses!

I am rebuilding a 7.1 system for my home office 11 X 11 in size. I now have a Denon 2310ci, an LG 1080P LCD, a Sony Blue Ray player, a HD STB, and my computer connected via a toslink cable. It was time to place some focus on the speakers. Having Def Techs in my living room for a few years now and getting good service out of them, I decided to look at Def Techs again. I started out looking at the Promonitor 1000s, and although the sound was great, I decided that they were just too much for the space. I then turned my attention to the Promonitor 800s. I asked the Magnolia sales person to select the 800s on the display, run them through the 2310ci that they have on display, and also connect the Promonitor 800 sub which I already have. I have to tell you that I was blown away by the sound being pumped out of these relatively small speakers. The highs are crisp, the midrange clean, and bass through the 800 sub is just wonderful. I am extremely pleased with these speakers and can not wait until I gather the funds to purchase 2 more each for the sides and rears. Of course, I will still need a center and will more than likely get the Promonitor 1000 center. Give these speakers a listen, I don't think you will be sorry.

The sonics is second to none in this price class. When driven by good /high current amplification the PM 800s will play as load as any other satellite speaker.I was at first skeptical about their ability to fill a 12 W x 29L feet listening area, but these speakers get the job done. I am impressed as I initially purchased these as a shoe-in to a larger system, but will keep the Procinemas as my main speakers. I have a 5.1 system with PM 800 as fronts, ProCenter 1000,Promonitor 100 as rears, and Velodyne SPL-1000R 10" subwoofer.

    A STEAL AT $145!!

for basement "man cave" 3.1 setup, more for music and TV than movies, wanted to upgrade from old Infinitys that I had sitting in a closet for years, but not break the bank -- looked at and auditioned MANY brands/models under $200 -- these seemed to be among the best bang for the buck in side-by-side comparisons, so I tried them -- when hooked up to Denon 1610, first thought they were a bit tinny for the large listening area, and wasn't so sure I made the right choice -- but after several hours of breaking in, they opened up quite nicely -- the highs are incredibly clear, and paired with a Polk 110 subwoofer (set at ~100Hz), sound is awesome for the minor investment -- for listening to music, compares well with my MUCH more expensive denon/polk/velodyne system upstairs -- I've become a big fan of Def Tech

Great quality speakers, would definitely recommend buying. I already had the Definitive Center speaker, so these completed the set. Great left / right front speakers for a quality Home Stereo System. Would definitely buy again and again. I recommend you visit your local Best Buy and give them a listen, I think you will agree, the quality and price match up nicely.

    Excellent multipurpose unit

Speakers tend to be a "matter of taste". Therefore, my first recommendation would be to listen to these in the Magnolia theatre section of the store. I found these to be excellent for TV, music, and movies. These speakers accurately reproduce the sound without "coloring" it - not too much bass, not too much "hiss", but just excellent, accurate sound reproduction. (Don't get me wrong - these units produce rich deep and crisp sounds - it's just they seem "natural" instead of "processed". If you're serious about sound, and are considering the 600's, you should give these a listen - they are well worth the extra $.

I listened to these along side the MartinLogan -Motion 4 speakers in the store and could not tell the difference when he switched between the two, but the Def Tech's were smaller and cheaper. When I hooked them up at home I was really impressed with how they performed for a 4 1/2 speaker. Solid build quality, perfect for rear satellites or even just by themselves, they sound great.

I have a HK 5.1 system in my living room and have always thought I was loosing my hearing because I had trouble understanding dialogue while watching certain Dolby surround sound rated movies even after balancing the system. I recently put a 7.1 surround system in another room and started with just a Definative center channel and the front channel speakers, That alone out performed my old system, after getting the remaining 4 speakers I was extremely pleased to find that it was not my hearing, these speakers are amazing for the price,

I have owned the ProMonitor 800's for about 6 months and still can not believe the sound they produce. I use these as bookshelf speakers in a 2 speaker stereo setup in my home office (12'x12'). I am using a vintage NAD 7220 PE receiver (set at 4 ohms) and Nakamichi CD Player 4 all hooked up with Monster Cable and could not be more impressed by the music this system produces. After "breaking in" the speakers for about 40-50 hours, the richness and full sound./.bass really showed itself. I was considering purchasing a sub woofer but after the break in period NO sub is needed. The full sound is simply amazing!

I have 4 of these in my 5.1 surround system. They are extremely impressive. I have the mounting brackets as well which I also highly recommend. These replace a Bose acoustimass system and I have to tell you that for approximately the same price, it is a no brainer. GET THESE! You will not be dissapointed.

I bought these as a self-birthday gift and this will be my first real sound system. I started only with a pair of ProMonitor 800s, they are amazing If your looking for a big movie sound. These speakers go great with any of the Pioneer Elite receivers (I chose the VSX-40 which is a 7.1 dual-zone receiver). I will be buying the ProCenter 1000, another pair of ProMonitor 800s and one of the DefinitiveTechnology Sub-woofers, probably the ProSub 1000.
