Weird

Looks Great but lack bass
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this unit for our bedroom. Looks great but there is hardly any bass. If I would to buy another unit then I would get a sub woofer that is not bluetooth and has its own preamp. Without a good amount of bass your action movies will suck.

No ARC and cheap crappy remote
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This sound bar as expensive as it is has no ARC. Which means you must use their remote. The remote is cheap and falls apart if it falls on the ground. The sound is ok so i'll give it 2 stars for sound that's it.

Great sound system at first
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This came highly recommended and we loved it at first, but after only a day or two, we could no longer get the subwoofer to connect to the soundbar no matter what we tried.

Really wanted to like this soundbar
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really looking forward to a top notch audiophile soundbar but was disappointed. first off the construction of this soundbar is one of the best i have reviewed and seen but the sound is very tiny. what i mean by tiny is that because it uses 3.1 meaning it has a center channel speaker when people speak it sound like they are speaking in a tin can. all the other sound effects are awesome but they overpower the main reason i bought a soundbar was to have natural voice.

System is garbage
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The wifi connection drops often. Play fi is a joke. This system doesn't allow for extra speakers to make surround sound during movies. You can connection multiple speakers playing music but soundbar goes in and out this system is pure trash.

Soundbar was not a good option for a large room
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Soundbar was a big disappointment. I gave flat sound, and no dynamic range. I was able to bring it back for a full refund, and bought a more expensive, but very satisfying 5.1 Dolbey sound system from Yammaha (at Best Buy). If you want true 5.1 sound, don't start with this product.

Awesome sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product has awesome sound, loses Play-Fi connectivity once in awhile. I would give Definitive Technology a ZERO, if I could. Like the sound so much, bought the W9 which later died and the company cannot or will not provide service or parts . STAY AWAY !!

Wish I purchased a Sonos soundbar
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Playfi app is terrible. Not ready for prime-time. I have since purchased a Sonos Beam and the app is significantly better. After two years, I no longer have any sound from the sub, It pairs but no longer plays. Not much support from Def Tech.

As Expected - Very Nice Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first sound bar purchase and I was nervous about the sound once in home although it blew everything away I listened to including the bloated Bose bar in the store. It's in my basement under a 65" Sony 4K with a wood floor and drywall ceiling. The fact that the hardware (i.e. drywall anchors / screws) was not included was disappointing. The packaging is awkward and poor from the exterior but the protective interior packaging is outstanding. The Play-Fi app is great once it works. You have to have the sound bar close to your router to "pair". Once that is complete, you can unplug and hook up. Regarding the sound, I am a bit disappointed in the bass. The volume has to be extremely loud to get the thunder you'd expect at this price range, but still outclassed everything else I heard. HDMI is your best option although I have hooked up optical as well so I can choose to control my other devices without using the cheaply made remote and the bar as the master. No Dolby True HD or DTS HD without the HDMI which is typical. 5 stars if: 1) Bass control was deeper, 2) Remote was classier, 3) Play-Fi was more intuitive when setting up. Overall, very satisfied.

Quality Soundbar
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Being an extensive researcher before purchaser type person I couldn't be happier with the W Studio. I've watched plenty of videos, read plenty of reviews and comparisons of the better soundbar systems and Definitive Tech did not let us down. We don't lose volume levels watching our favorite shows from our LG (with the flat screen audio issues that we all know). I was very skeptical it could fill our very open room, but Pandora over wifi via the app (not overly full of bells and whistles but user friendly) sounds great! I'm a die hard Kilpsch fan and had a decent 5.1 system set up but after a move, and with the wife's "encouragement" we had to go wireless (also, the speaker icon won't release it's wireless 5.1 system until maybe Christmas) While in no way in the same ballpark as a true 5.1 wired system the W Studio does do well with movies, clarity being one of the strong suits. The sub is pretty solid as well, pushing out the lows better than some of the other sound system brands I've heard. If you can get it on sale, jump on it as it's a bit pricey but worth it in the end.

Fantastic Sound Bar... For what it is...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having a full 5.1.2 Atmos/DTS:X projection set up in the basement, I replaced a 5 year old sound bar in the living room with this (it was half price on sale). I had been looking at Def Tech for years, and pulled the trigger. This sounder is by far the best SOUND BAR set up i've heard for movies/TV in the ~$600 price range. Surround, while not comparable to a dedicated 5.1 system, is totally room filling, and the bass produced is very impressive. I compared this to the Sonos PlayBar and Bose Soundtouch 300 which sound subjectively as good to worse (Bars only), and would be double the cost with the additional subwoofer (that comes standard with the W. Now, if you added the optional rears speakers for the Sonos and Bose, It will blow this thing away, but at almost $2K. The W Studio has dedicated power channels... and they WORK. I went up close to the bad while watching 5.1 on netflix, and just the center driver cluster was on during dialog, and then the sides kick on when it started raining. I've never seen a sound bar behave like this before... It really is just like a real L/R/Center system... And that is just streaming. DTS-HD from a 4K bluray is darn near mind blowing for a sound bar. And it is beautifully crafter from a aluminum chassis... Stunning, and my wife even let me display the understated subwoofer instead of hiding it. And of note, I and only hooked up through my Samsung's UN8000 Optical cable. No HDMI's... All in all, for the sale price it currently is, NOTHING CAN TOUCH THIS THING. GET IT BEFORE THE SALE IS OVER!

Good sound but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good sound but very difficult to operate with my smart TV. Turns on and off by itself, Consistently needing to use dedicated remote when switching between applications on the TV. Pain in butt. Rarely use.
