    This drive was purchased for my new laptop that did not have a optical media drive in it. Works great for ripping music into iTunes and for installing software. It's powered by the USB it connects to your computer with.

    I bought this to burn discs in Ubuntu Linux. Works great with brasero burning software on linux. The cord length is long enough I can sit it on top of my desktop PC plugged in and it's ok.
