No need to pay a premium for larger storage models of a desktop or laptop, which can add to the price of those machines dramatically. I bought this to house my Apple Photos library on a Mac Mini system. I load several hundred gigabytes of photos linked to iCloud and don't have to take up room in the flash storage of the Mac mini. This way, I also have full size files for easy editing and viewing, etc. I do this for my home and office systems and also my laptop, although because laptops are (usually) always being moved about and turned off and on, an external drive for photos can be an issue sometimes, in that the system seems to occasionally need to reindex the library. But for photos, this is a no brainer if you need more storage.

No doubt this is a good product, thru a miss understanding about what I needed, I came home with something I could not use. The miss understanding was no doubt my fault, as I didn't fully explain I needed a cd reader as well, The return was great, no problem at all, exchanged for an LG product, which I am very happy with. Thank you Best Buy

The product operates ad expected. It came a cd to download 3rd party software but did not explain that. With the software install I wad not able to copy\burn without paying for an upgrade. So I uninstalled. T he extra software sould have been explained that it was needed to operate but this wad never mentioned. It works fine wth windows media player.

Price was right. Easy to set up and operate. Filled the need for a laptop without an internal DVD drive.

I was able to use this without any trouble for transferring a few music CD's to my computer, as well as playing a few. I haven't tried a DVD yet, but I assume that also will work well. This is a must, now that computers do not include a CD/DVD tray.

You need one of these if you purchased the Inspiron 3880 with the solid state hard drive and have games or music on disks. Although it looks like there is a built in drive, it has none. I hooked the external drive up and in a matter of minutes I was all set. Cheap, plugs into USB, solves problem.

The external drive works as advertised and I am well pleased with it.

I wanted an external player for movies and music for my PC and this does the job. My PC is a Dell also so it is a nice match but not necessary. I also like shopping at Best Buy because you can find salespeople who can actually answer questions for you unlike most other stores.

So easy to plug into computer and use. Works with all my DVDs and older CDs.

It is really easy to use it with my laptop. No problems.

really a great purchase . I had many doubts though before buying but I can honestly tell its a worthy item for the price. The disc is being read quickly and there is not any much noise during the read operation. You will not regret for this purchase and decent produxt in this price range. Best buy service as always been best so far.
