It behaved fine. Easy Plug and Play. Haven’t used it for anything besides loading software.

i just plugged it into usb port and laptop started playing cd right away. still working. no problems. haven't tried dvd or writing to it yet, though, just listening to music cd's so far. noticed new cars don't have cd player. hoping when i have to get new car, that this will plug into port and be just as immediately functional.

I've used this external drive with a Latitude 3810 (W10 Pro), an Inspiron 5373 (W10 Home) and an Asus KMA200 (originally W8, upgraded to W10 Home). Plug and play, no performance issues. If you want to use it to watch a DVD movie, you'll need to get VLC or another media player. W10 no longer has an internal DVD player. VLC seems to be the industry norm, and it works will.

Got it on sale at a price I couldn't refuse. I have so many CDs of music that I haven't heard yet (friends mixtapes) and now I can listen to all new (old) music on my PC!

needed a New and Portable CD Drive and this was affordable!! The drive on my laptop was acting funny and not able to burn CDs nor DVDs. It used to, currently not.

It plugged in and worked the first time and every time since.

This drive was purchased to install optical disc based software on a new SurfaceBook. It gets the job done, but it is quite slow. Probably the best available for this reasonable price, and it actually works with the SurfaceBook which is something many of the drives available can't say. I can't recommend it without disclaimer, but I could recommend it with the understanding of its limitations.
