At a certain point, you'll need some sort of CD reader if your PC doesn't have one. Whether it's an old program, game, or if you just want to watch a DVD or download old songs, it's great. You'll barely know it's there, just plug in and you're set.

Plugged it in and it worked. Have not used it to write a DVD but I presume that it will work.

Many computers - laptop & desktop - now come without a DVD/CD read/write drive. Thus, to use DVD's or CD's, you need an external player. This Dell unit woks exceptionally well and is plug-and-ply, just as advertised.

This was a very nice addition to my new Dell PC since it didn't come with a cd/dvd drive.

I purchased this Dell DVD/CD-RW because my new laptop didn't include the DVD/CD-RW. This product works wonderfully. I was able to upload my music CD's and watch a DVD movie. If anyone is looking for a External- USB -Drive; this would be the product you want to own.

Wonderful!! Now I'll always have my CD's available and not have to worry about a DVD player that is on my Dell laptop or Desktop breaking again. Works just perfect. Love it!

Excellent thin dvd player, does exactly what you want it to play a dvd, plus comes wit excellent software.

I needed an external hard drive for my HP Spectre laptop computer. After doing some research I chose this Dell external hard drive. It was easy to set up and has worked flawlessly. Also, it came with a cable. Not all external hard drives I researched come with a cable to attach to your computer.

I paid approximately 35.00 for this device. It comes with a USB cable and plugs right into my notebook; allowing me to play DVD's (not Blu Ray's) on my 2-1. No issues noted. Plug and play just pick the disk, hit the Eject button, push tray back into player and watch the movie. Cheap and easy. Thanks.

Dell USB Slim DVD RW Drive is very easy to use I had several CD's I wanted to copy to my computer and iPod all simple took a couple of days and I had them all copied to my computer and iPod. A great addition to my home.

If you need an external disk drive., this is the one great and very easy to install.

I always missed the CD RW drive in new laptops. Even though use of CDs is reduced but it is still a "Nice to have" item for occasional use. I have 3 laptops at my home and none of them had a disk drive. Best buy had an amazing discount on this one when I purchased a laptop and was totally worth it.

Had to buy a new CD drive for my laptop since mine was broken. Went with this one since it's small, burns CDs, and at a good price of $20 at the time. It's straight to the point too. Just plug it in and go.The burner is fast, quiet, and highly recommended.

Most computers today don't have a DVD/CD drive attached so I had to purchase this. Very easy to set up. It includes a disk to aid in the installation, but you don't really need it since its automatic upon set up. Just plug, load and play. Also very quiet when reading discs.

Before I purchased this, I looked over the other offerings from Best Buy, and checked out a few reviews online. I needed a CD/DVD drive to go along with an ultrabook I recently purchased, and this fit my needs perfectly. I plugged it in, and it worked as expected. Simple and effective. Recommended!

I use it to load cd music onto my Ipod. It is very easy and it operates quickly.

We used this recently on a client visit and it worked perfectly on a Mac and Linux machines seamlessly. No drivers, plug and play.
