    There are still many situations where I need to transfer files archived on DVD. The Dell drive was the solution for lightweight portable USB access.

    I was surprised to learn that laptop computers no longer taken internal DVD player. We bought this as this was the only thing available at Best Buy and have been very happy with it. We have been able to play DVDs perfectly. So far we have not used the DVD writer capability but I am sure it will work fine since it is a Dell.
