I needed this to attach to my newer laptop so I could download an old program for my old Dell laptop onto my new laptop. It did exactly what I needed it to do for a cheap device. It's a little slow but that didn't matter to me. I just wanted the program on my laptop and this did the job. Easy to use. Just plug it into laptop and good to go. My laptop detected a new driver needed for the DVD writer and that was easy to get and then I was able to use it.

This burner is preety simple and easy to use. It comes with software to load to help you organize data and to view movies and videos. I like the extra USB Extension since the actual cord is barely 12 inches.

I was glad to purchase this DVD writer to play videos for my practice, since most laptops no longer include a DVD player. At the same time, I was able to save a lot of money with my discount.

It works. I recently replaced my desktop pc with the cute little Dell Optiplex and had no disc drives, only usb and usb-c. This small DVD usb drive is perfect and comes in handy.

I am well satisfied with this Dell external cd writer/player for multiple reasons! Due to absence of burning device on new and many computers, I encountered the necessity of asking my grandson (since he's up to date with technology), to guide me the needed device/s to deal with my "problem" if any. He guided me thru some devices but, when I came to Dell products, I put my trust on this DW316. Purchased price - excellent! Very easy to manage. Easy to "plug and play/burn!." Carrying along with i.e. light, slim and sturdy. Connecting cable included. Well... what can I say... Overall: great!

I'm a big fan of dell products. I bought this almost 15 months ago and it is still working perfectly. No issues with the performance as I'm using it very regularly. Compatible with HP Docking station as well.

The external drive is just what I needed it works great it does what I needed to do when I need to do it easy to use easy to store I have a mini computer called Zoey and it has no at all DVD players at all so this is just great
