My laptop does not have a DVD/CD drive so I bought this so I could use quilting DVD’s in my sewing room. This is small and so easy to use. I could it be happier with my purchase.

This is a great little drive at a very good price. I bought this to use with a new HP Laptop. No need for manual configuring or additional software. Lightweight and portable.

Purchased a new computer with a solid state hard and no DVD drive, Needed a portable drive to load several legacy drives and data stored on CDs. This drive the job and price was excellent.

Easy to setup, work perfect with my Dell laptop and Surface tablet.

Must have for newer laptops without an internal drive, and a great price.

So far it works great on my Mac. I am just using it right now to import all my Music CDs into iTunes and it's incredibly fast. My internal Mac drive was messing up bad, it rejected mounting my CDs and when it worked it took for ever to import the files. Glad I got this Dell DW316 external drive. I haven't tried any DVDs or any disc burning yet so I hope it's not going to give me any Mac compatible issues or tell me i need any additional software. This Dell external drive seems to be built a bit better than other units but you still need to be gentle the loading tray, other than that it's a good quality. I will follow up my review when do more testing.

I purchased this for the odd times when I want to have. DVD download or a SW download from disc. The size is great to be able to store it in a small drawer and the read/write speed is just fine. I don’t need to download in a second but when I need a drive it is a good choice at a good price.

Although we haven't used this device much yet, it has performed well. It is thin and lightweight so it would be great if you need to travel with it. We are slightly concerned about how light it is and whether or not it will hold up to repeated use, as it was one of the less expensive models available.

Seems kind of flimsy and i am afraid of breaking, but other than that does what it is supposed to do. Still prefer to have the CD drives built-in laptops.

My computer did not have a DVD reader installed I wanted to add one that was reasonably priced since I would not be using it often. I spoke to a staff member and he suggested the Dell plug and play DW316. Bottom line: easy to install and use and gives me what I was looking for. Truly: Plug it into a USB port and drop in a disc. Starts up automatically. Thanks Best Buy!
