My wife and I both have computers (2 laptops and 1 tower) without a cd/dvd drive. My wife ended up getting an older style embroidery machine that required software installed from the provided cd that wasn’t available online. The plug and play worked without any issues and my wife was able to install her software and I have been able to use on my computers back and forth without any problems.

I am using this as external peripheral with my smart tv to play blue ray and DVD. This comes with a bonus feature of writing as well. Great buy on a deal at Best buy @20 bucks . Can't go wrong with that.

Great addition to laptop

USB Optical Drive

It reads, it writes, it slices, it dices, okay maybe not the last two. Anyway, be sure to check it out at your local Best Buy and pick one up for your PC related needs.

Handy dandy CD drive

My job requires me to use CDS but the work computers no longer have the drive so purchasing one of these for on-the-go job assignments has been the best decision for me. The diced is slim so it can fit it all of my purses and not take up too much room. I recommended putting the USB cord in a ziploc to keep it from getting broken or messed up.
