gets the job done

It works great for what it is but the short cord and noise can sometimes be a hassle.

This disc drive is fragile enough as it is, and recoils a lot when opening the tray, so I can only imagine how bad the cheaper one would be. Thankfully everything runs fine. I've tried DVD's and CD's, as well as game discs and all have worked fine. It comes with a media installation disc so you needn't have to worry about not playing movies or anything like that. A bit expensive but if you really want to save internal computer space for other things, yet need CD's/DVD's badly, this is a great purchase.
