Good value for price. Indispensable for access to old DVDs to be put on to up-to-date platforms.

New computers don’t have cd-rom drives. This made it easy to reinstall older programs.

We bought this to use with a new laptop that doesn't have a DVD drive. We have too many CDs and DV's that we want to be able to use in the future. This will allow us to take our time transferring them to USB flash drives.

I'd purchased another brand of external drive from a different retailer. About a day later, I thought the price seemed high and checked Best Buy. They had two makes for three-quarters the price of the one I originally bought ... so back it went and I went to Best Buy. This one was not on the shelf, but some rummaging by an assistant in the back room found two of them. This Dell is in a much more robust case than the make I originally purchased, only uses one USB port for power and connection rather than two on the other, and I like the black color much better than the other one's "putty."

Laptop was a hard decision. Wanted DVD player. Sales clerk told me about this DVD plug and Play. I was reluctant, however I purchased it. I have only used it once. Due to space on my desk I had to disconnect it. It is easy to re-connect whenever I need to use it. It was a good addition to my laptop. However too much to pack up when transporting laptop. Nice for when needed.

Had to buy one of these for my new desktop that no longer has a built in dvd drive. Needed it to keep loading up my collection of CDs onto my hard drives drives. Works great. Plug in and it played and loaded. Very easy. Watched a dvd as well on this and worked fine also. Have not used it to rip any cd or dvd as I do not do such. Reasonably priced as well.

This has been a good cost effective addition to my new computer. Most do not come with disc drive anymore. This allows me to still load music to my computer and save down pictures too.

The drive was effortless to set up. The software loaded easy. I had troubles with a couple od drives being recognized by my laptop but this one worked right away.
