Do wish I'd first tried to see if it would work without installing the included software. But I didn't and everything works well.

External cd/dvd Drive

The writing was on the wall that internal cd/dvd writers are going the way of the dodo. Putting mine away to be able to play cd/dvd's in the future. In a years time because of the solid state media they won't be available.

Very lightweight CD/DVD player

I needed to add one to my wife's new Dell Computer. This does what it is supposed to, but it sure is light-weight and feels flimsy. I hope it lasts. Works fine and was indeed plug and play.

Needed item for newer laptops
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This item is needed if you purchase a newer laptop since newer laptops don't usually come with a built in DVD / CD Rom Drive. If you have any discs that need read or burned, you need one of these external drives to perform those tasks. This external drive is working great and does what it is designed to do.
