Customers express satisfaction with the G15 gaming laptop's performance, graphics, cooling system, and build quality. Many appreciate the smooth visuals from the high refresh rate display and the good value for the price. However, some users point out that the laptop is heavy and has a smaller-than-ideal trackpad, while others mention the need for a RAM upgrade and less-than-stellar battery life. The large power brick is also a recurring point of feedback.

To start off, I'm very impressive for what is suppose to be a entry-midrange gaming notebook. The build quality stands out right away and is above average for products in this segmentation.
The weakest part is the body or build is the monitor frame assembly and hinge. It can be considered flimsy vs competitive notebooks. Shutting the lid has a little play on the left corner when lifted or tilted (my sample), but it sits flat on desk when closed. Would be nice if this was improved upon in the next revision.
I have no real major problems otherwise in regards to build... It's clear DELL knows what they're doing and have been refining their formula for the past few decades of building PCs and notebooks.
On the other hand, the weight is around 6.2lbs. This is on the heavy side of what I am generally used to.. but this isn't an Ultrabook, its a gaming laptop.
There is quite a bit of ventilation for CPU and GPU to compensate with two big and chunky heatsinks sitting over the main components. I can't really complain because the design does allow for the CPU and GPU to stay cool in game, but Ill expand on that later.
THE GUTS:
The highlight of this show is the Intel i7 13650HX and NVIDIA RTX4050 Mobile Combo which is relatively strong vs competitive products in its class.
The Intel CPU is actually comparable to desktop class (157W turbo) and should handle most task with ease.
It's certainly better than a 2021 era desktop CPU with 8/16 core config such as a 10th/11gen Intel or 5000 series AMD CPU.. I will reiterate, this is a VERY Strong CPU in a notebook and will eat CPU bounded games for dinner.
The 4050 while not top in class, is also quite above average from a market filled with last gen GPUs or weaker options. I would say its fairly close to to a desktop class RTX3050 and to me that is more than enough for a travel/mobile experience.
CONCERNS:
As other people may have already pointed out, the 8GB ram config is complete non sense and decreases overall performance of this machine more than it should. 16GB would have been a much better fit for these components and desktop experience. You can notice the ram being a bottleneck and pegging 7.5+GB use almost instantly upon first use.
Luckily, it seems dell doesn't solder RAM and the 8GB can be upgraded later on to a better 16 or 32GB kit.
USER EXPERIENCE:
If you're looking for the best keyboard, trackpad and sound I would say this isn't it.
-The keyboard is NOT very tactile and the full layout makes it cramped in most typing scenarios.
-The Trackpad is annoying, and a step back from what I consider a modern experience.
-The sound quality reminds of laptops from the early 2000s.
All of this is subjective to my user experience and use of competitive products.
The Screen isn't too bad but it's a TN panel.
Dell labels it as WVA (WIDE VIEWING ANGLE). Is it passable? Yes...But coming from a 360hz IPS desktop monitor, its a night and day change. Be aware if you expect IPS or VA.
It also only does 250nits. Not very bright enough in an outside environment, but passable indoors.
PERFORMANCE:
Outside of RAM bottlenecking certain games, I can happily say the 13650HX + 4050 combo is very solid for general performance.
240 FPS in LEAGUE OF LEGENDS- High settings, shadows off.
150-250 FPS IN CS2 -High preset.
300+ FPS in Valorant.- High preset.
250 FPS + Overwatch medium preset.
What's even more impressive is that the G-MODE will keep the CPU and GPU under 70C in most cases.. I'm actually happy with this and it's better than I actually expected. The RTX 4050 Mobile is no joke.
BATTERY:
While the Laptop performs well above my expectations. Trying to game with battery power tanks FPS and drains fairly quickly.
I view this laptop as a desktop replacement or mobile battle station.. Not one that that can be taken on trips and have 3+hours of game play. Playing CS2 for 10-15 minutes drained the battery to around 80% from 100%.
FPS was also dipping into the 70s from a solid 150-250 experience.
The 330W power brick is also VERY big and heavy. I will reiterate that this is a desktop replacement or mobile battle station.. not a mobile gaming experience.
Battery is 6 cell, but I honestly don't see how people can game with it. sadly.
There is also no way to change power plan. Its stuck on "balanced"
WINDOWS:
Sleep mode on this PC is odd. I believe its using a newer type power state and components are always on. This means shutting the lid with music playing, will keep music playing. CPU is always in ready mode and will instant resume without hitting UEFI screen.
I don't know if this can be changed to a legacy sleep state, but it bothers me.
OVERALL:
There are a ton of caveats that I do not like, but I would say the general (build) quality and performance (CPU/GPU) is a solid 4/5.
Best hardware and build Quality? No, but its certainly good in this segmentation.
The user experience and other factors drop it down to a 3/5.. Middle of the road.
- 8GB isn't enough on the RAM end, especially on a PC with these level components. 16GB would have been a much better fit, especially in 2023.
-The keyboard and trackpad are bare bones and the sound isn't that great (Subjective).
-Battery drains too quick and tanks frames per second for gaming without a cord. This is my personal experience after a week of testing.
This is an excellent desktop replacement if you need a strong CPU, but be aware of potential issues or subjective cons.

Dell G15 15.6" FHD 120Hz Gaming Laptop has decent configuration and it came with 13th Gen Intel Core i7 13650HX Processor, 8GB DDR5 RAM, 1920x1080 FHD 120Hz LED display, 1TB NVMe M.2 PCIe Solid State Drive, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Graphics onboard and Power Cord / AC adapter. The build quality is great as you expect from Dell. However, it is very heavy compared to other gaming laptops I have used in the past. It weights close to 9 lbs with power adapter and not easy to carry around. The GeForce RTX 4050 comes with 6GB GGDR6 RAM can handle most of the games. It comes with preloaded Windows 11 Home operating system.
After connecting with Microsoft Account, it synced all my windows configurations from other laptop. There is no built in CD / DVD drive and all software can be downloaded once it is connected to Wi-Fi6 network. It does have ethernet port which can be used for wired internet connection. The built in 720p web camera good for video calls and meetings.
The keyboard is very responsive and soft. The display is sharp with 120Hz refresh rate and games looks vivid on the screen. There are many other ports available in the laptop. HDMI 2.1 port allows to connect external monitors to play the games in bigger screen. There are 3 x USB-A 3.2, 1 x USB-C 3.2 ports available to use various devices.
It has headphone and microphone inputs. It comes with Alienware-Inspired Thermal Design which has four heat pipes and two improved fans with ultra-thin blades for increased airflow to reduce heat while playing games. Battery life is normal and 3 hours of continuous usage during gaming and around 5 hours during normal usage.
This is entry level gaming laptop which has decent configuration and not the good one to carry around due to the weight of the laptop and power brick.

As far as gaming laptops go the minimum amount of system RAM should be 16 GB or better yet 32 GB. I saw the RAM being almost 99% maxed out when playing some games and although not entirely sure whether it was the system or the game that crashed due to the new Robocop game still being tested or the laptop.
Overall the laptop is a solid gaming laptop and with that just like other gaming laptops with this level of hardware it doesn't last more than about 3 to 4 hours when not plugged in. The first thought I had when I pulled it out was how big the power brick was for this laptop. Setup only took about 15 minutes to get setup and booted into windows then a few updates and I was downloading games within 30 minutes.
Pros: It will run just about every game I have thrown at it, puts up solid numbers on the 3D Mark tests I ran, it has ample cooling but I would still suggest elevating it or putting it on a cooling pad with fans because it still gets hot, any mouse or gamepad I connected to it worked without issues, HDMI out to use an external monitor as a secod screen
Cons: It is large and heavy, the power brick is huge and not very portable, needs more RAM, only has 3 USB ports and one USB C port
Overall this will run just about anything I have thrown at it although not to the level I would have expected with Forza Horizon 5 being recommended to run on low settings to hit 60 FPS. At this price point I would have expected it to run on high settings without any issues but will keep tweaking to see i I can get it there.

The Dell G15 is a pretty impressive gaming laptop that has a lot of great features. The G15 is a heavy computer with a 15.6” FHD 120hz screen, Intel i7, 1TB SSD, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 Graphic, and 8GB of RAM.
The Intel i7 chip runs this machine effortlessly and allows me to be productive for gaming and work purposes. The gaming aspect of playing games such as Quantum Break, Halo, TitanFall, and Assassins Creed have all been fantastic experiences. The games work very smoothly. I’ll plan on upgrading the RAM so my multitasking can be done without any hiccups.
The G15 works effortlessly to keep the laptop cool under duress. The multiple fans and vents are strategically placed and give this an optimal performance temperature without overheating. The laptops LED FHD 120hz screen works is a very nice screen for gaming purposes and has a smooth flow throughout various games. The G15 is a baby Alienware style computer and also runs some Dell Alienware software to help optimize the machine to your liking. Dell's Game Shift Key allows for a boost in gaming performance and fan boost to easily keep up with your needs. This i7 CPU paired with the RTX 4050 gives amazing speed and graphics without any hesitation.
The layout of the keyboard is nice, and having a numeric keypad is a nice bonus for when I'm using the laptop for work purposes. Back lit keyboard is a blessing for working in low light settings. The power brick for this computer is quite large and one of the biggest I've come across. There are multiple ports for all your needs consisting of 3 USB-A, 1 USB-C, HDMI, headphone jack, and ethernet port. This Dell G15 is blazing fast on the WiFi 6 and holds a strong connection in my house no matter where I'm setup. Front facing camera 720p is good, and is the bare minimum of what you'd expect in a laptop like this.
Overall a good gaming laptop with a large hard drive, great visually, and fast internals. The only thing I'm upgrading soon will be the RAM.

Incredible Thermals, Fast, Quiet, Gaming Laptop

Dell has delivered something incredible - the G15 is the first gaming laptop I have used that runs cool and quiet. I am in disbelief - even during setup with BIOS and all the Microsoft Windows updates the G15 barely made a sound. It's literally quieter than the Windows laptop I have for work - so getting this kind of quiet on a gaming laptop is mind blowing.
The specs are amazing, 13th Gen i7 and an RTX4050 which makes the thermals even more impressive. The DDR5 RAM is a little less than I would expect for gaming PC (8GB) but you can buy 32GB for under $100 on BestBuy. I'm not sure how easy it is to open and change, as not willing to take that risk, but Dell's website does say you can upgrade.
In terms of gaming performance. I am getting consist 120fps+ on Ultra settings across a variety of games (Overwatch, Fortnite, Assassins Creed). This is Amazing! The 120hz screen is clean, no bleed, keyboard responsive but the touchpad is not great. It's not very responsive to button presses and the click is underwhelming. I would strongly recommend getting and using an external gaming mouse. The keyboard is very good though, decent travel and WASD'ing away on games was no problem.
Design wise, I'm going to say again, the thermal temps mean Dell has done something smart with the design. There are top, bottom, rear, and side cooling ports. The rear vents have an burnt-orange metallic color. There is no RGB but the keyboard is backlit a soft orange. It lights evenly and almost looks like the keys have a natural orange. The lid is not shiny but did attract fingerprints. The power supply is huge (330W) and the plug inserts in the rear, which is smart - a few laptop manufacturers make the mistake of having it come in on the side and end up blocking ports.
In terms of ports. you get:
3 x USB A (2 are side mounted, 1x rear)
1 x USB C (rear)
1 x Network
1 x Headphone
1 x HDMI (full size! yay!)
I'd love an extra USB C but I am probably just being needy.
I've attached some benchmarks to this review. 3DMark TimeSpy score is 9109, but look at the thermals staying under 90F. That's impressive for a laptop. UserBenchmark scores give a Gaming Score of 119%, Desktop of 106%, and Workstation of 131%. Graphics is 114% (Outstanding) and even getting into details on the NVMe, it's getting 313% - Dell has seriously optimized this.
Overall. Amazing gaming laptop. Great speed and performance but also very quiet and doesn't run hot. Plenty of ports for any gaming peripheral. I would recommend the G15 laptop to any gamer. Just budget for a mouse (trackpad could be better) and maybe a RAM upgrade at some point.

Works amazing so far. I’ve had it for a week or so, runs all of my games great. So far been playing No Man’s Sky most days and running it on max settings. FPS stays at or above 58-60. Looks great, stays relatively cool with its double fans, super easy to upgrade the RAM. Very happy with my purchase. Battery drains very quick while playing beefy games though but it’s nothing to be surprised by.

I bought this laptop for school and entertainment for myself.( I went back to college after taking 20 years off ) Overall, I really like the computer. The graphics are great and so is the speed. The only disappointing aspect to it is that the battery dies quickly, especially if you are doing anything that takes any amount of time and processing. When doing computer work like homework or research away from the home I always have to make sure that I bring the charger with me, and make sure I'm in a location where I have access to an outlet. But, overall a good solid computer.

The G15 looks lovely but is a bit clunky and heavy machine with its massive and heavy power brick (charger). It is great when traveling or staying at someone's house, but not much to take everywhere in one day. The chassis is entirely made of plastic with a matte finish. The back corner design, the speaker grills, and the cooling grills make this laptop look very gaming. It comes with more than enough ports: a RJ45, a combo audio jack, three USB 3.2 (Gen 1), a USB-C 3.2 (Gen 2, not Thunderbolt), and an HDMI 2.1 port. The keyboard has an orange accent color with a full-sized numeric keypad. The layout of the keys is excellent, not too squished at all. The touchpad (4-inch length x 2.75-inch width) is long enough but needs to be wider; it is designed limited to allow room for the full-size large keyboard. The vents on top of the keyboard allow plenty of airflow. There is a lot of airflow, which is essential for good gaming performance. All the games I played ran smoothly and were amazing without any fluctuation. The matte display is stunning, with good color accuracy and color gamut. The laptop's CP performance is excellent; it even functions well with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro. On the center of the keyboard is the G button, which takes you in and out of turbo mode. The speakers are acceptable for normal day-to-day usage. To conclude, this is a tremendous mid-range level gaming laptop that performs exceptionally well.

A nice upgrade from the 3050/ti gaming laptops

So I have an older 16 inch laptop with a 12th gen i5 and an RTX 3050 ti that was good while I used it but I thought I would see what if any an upgrade would be with a 13th gen i7 and the new 4050 6GB laptop GPU. From start up you can feel how intels newest chips make the OS run smoother and more snappy. It’s a solid jump in performance that you should be able to notice right away. Screen while only 1080p is actually very nice with bright with vivid colors, great viewing angles and a 120 hertz screen. Dell always makes great screens in their laptops and monitors, so for me this isn’t a surprise. Laptop design is what you would expect, with sharp edges and some thickness to accommodate the cooling. Basically it looks good. But you care about the gaming performance more that the design right. So with a 4050 you would think “ahh this is entry level” but it really is not. Nvidia has built the 40 series gpu laptop or otherwise to perform with power. This little 4050 is a little beast with its 6GB of vram(up from 4gb last gen). This is plenty for 1080p gaming all day. I didn’t expect much but man I have to say this laptop definitely has some power. Even while playing warzone which if you know is very demanding I get solid frame rates and solid frame times. The gps is even higher with DLSS. FPS is even higher in medium to run games such as overwatch 2 and apex legends, I can only imagine games like CS2 or valorant( or my cup of tea). Racing games like forza were ridiculously high as well. Again it runs at 1080p but the pixel per inch is very high on a 16 inch screen so games look amazing. Cooling is great as well due to Dell including 4 heat pipes and 2 fans that pull in a good amount of air. While heavy gaming the fans are not very loud and the laptop stays pretty cool considering the components inside. Technology really has come a long way because just the last year or 2 most laptops ran HOT AND LOUD! I can’t recommend this enough. You get a 1TB SSD, ddr5 ram running @4800mhtz(sadly only 8 is included I added another 8gb stick for a total of 16gb dual channel) see pictures below. You can add another SSD if need be but for me 1TB is plenty. Plenty of standard ports-usb,usb C, Ethernet, and hdmi 2.1 (in back which I prefer) to name the essentials.backlit keyboard is nice but unfortunately it isn’t RGB but at this price point it’s fair. Power brick is ginormous and I’m not joking. I know 13th intel processors and nvidia 40 series cards draw a lot of power but wow this thing is huge. Not an issue but funny imo lol. Battery life is good but it is a gaming laptop so I don’t expect a lot there. I really don’t have any complaints beside Dell not having 16gb of ram but it’s an easy and cheap fix. So if you want a little inexpensive beast of a laptop and don’t need 1440p/1600p with a 165hertz refresh rate then this is plenty and a great price at that. I’d say go with this one for sure.

This laptop is the beast
I love everything about this device but thanks to it's weight I would not carry this around.
Specs:
Intel I7 cpu, 8gb RAM, 1TB ssd drive and great gpu card from NVidia (GeForce RTX 4050).
Performance:
This computer has great performance, regardless are you playing games, watching vidoes or use it for business.
Screen:
15,6" full HD screen it's great for browsing, watching vidoes or playing the games. I did however add external 4K 27" monitor which I need to say provides clear picture and high resolution thanks to GeForce graphics.
Keyboard:
Full size backlit keyboard with numberic keys on the side are soft and quiet. Touchpad seem to be slightly smaller than expected but not a big deal.
Storage:
1tb SSD drive provides more than enough storage and plays important role in performance
Sounds:
Great and loud speakers, which makes this device a full package for gaming or video entertainment.
Inputs:
Two USB 3.O on the right side, headset and RJ45 network connectors on the left side, and mini display port, HDMI output and power plug on the back side.
Cooling:
I must mention this separately. Backside of the computer has big large vents on each corner and exposed red heatsink looks awesome in there. Also both side of the device has smaller cooling vents toward the rear side of the device. Lastly bottom of the laptop has large cooling opening which takes about 40% of the bottom cover and raised rear stands which keeps the laptop raised for better air circulation. This is what every computer should be build as.
OS:
Computer has Windows 11 home but I must add that it has lots of preloaded Dell apps/bloatware which can be annoying until complete setup
Battery:
Not so great but I keep it plugged at all time so it does not bothers me at all. I got 3hrs of use.
Built:
It is built from plastic but it's strongly built. No squeaking or cracking. Once again great job on the cooling system and air circulation. As mentioned before this device is very heavy (over 6lb) and I would not get this to travel with, but to keep it at desk, and addition to that weight its very big and heavy power adapter.

The performance of this laptop is impressive. I've had it for over a year now, and it hasn't had a single glitch. I study Aerospace Engineering, and I have to use heavy-duty programs like SolidWorks, Matlab, Visual Studio, LabView, and others, and I can have several programs open without any problems. The battery lasts as long as it says. Obviously, if you use a lot of programs at the same time, like I do, don't expect your laptop to have a full battery all day, because you'll likely need to charge it once or twice.

I’m coming from a Dell G3 3579 with an intel i5 13th and GTX 1050 and upgraded to this one, I love the Dell G series gaming laptops because you get a really decent gaming laptop without paying a lot of money, I’ve testing it out playing AAA games in high and ultra graphics and it run it smoothly, someone mentioned that this Dell laptop is like a small brother of the AlienWare, and that’s correct, definitely worth it.
*IMPORTANT* the only issue is that this model comes with only 8gb of RAM, I strongly recommend you that the first thing you should do is upgrade it to a minimum of 16gb or if possible to 32 gb, I have 2 slots of 16gb and man it just awesome, I’m really happy with my purchase and for sure I do recommend this laptop if you are a casual gamer and want to have a strong-solid laptop for all kind of purposes.

Bought this to replace a 14 year old Toshiba Windows 10 laptop. Like going from a Yugo to a Corvette. Seamless purchase experience with Best Buy too. The ONLY negative is the weight. Having retired from IT, I no longer travel with my laptop so the weight isn’t an issue.

I'm not well versed in what makes a gaming laptop good, but I'm happy with it so far. It's made to run on Windows 11 (which I learned after downgrading to 10 and getting frequent crashes) but that's manageable. It runs super quiet and relatively cool, but I haven't tried anything too intense on it. The battery life is only about 4 hours, so not terrible, but the battery brick is huge; not the most portable option. Still, it runs lightning fast and quiet and I'm satisfied with that.

Great laptop. We actualky have 2 in the household. My wufe got one during covid since her work provided chrome book could not handle zoom calls. My son last uesr saved Christmas and birthday money to purchase one. I use the one my wife bought to also edit videos, photoshop and she uses ir for her cricut projects.
