Out of the box, it ran like a 1-2 year old laptop. The keypad messes up a couple of times a day by moving to a completely different part of the screen. The most annoying part is the charger. It pops out CONSTANTLY. I'm talking 20-50 times A DAY!!! Even if it's just sitting there it pops out. I've tried everything to get it to stay, but it doesn't work. I took it to get repaired and it did nothing to help. The only reason I'm still using it is because another laptop isn't affordable right now. DO NOT buy thing unless you want to be annoyed and frustrated. I'm not the only one who has this problem either. It's with most people who have this laptop. Unfortunately, I didn't know that until after purchasing. Literally go with any other laptop in the world but this one.

The Dell - G15 15.6" Gaming Laptop (AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 - 16GB Memory - 1TB SSD) is a good choice as an entry-level gaming laptop.
The field is a bit crowded as far as gaming laptops in this price-range go. As a result, it can be a bit difficult to differentiate the offerings. I found that true in giving this initial review of the Dell - G15. That’s not a negative, rather an acknowledgement that there are other equally-good gaming laptops at this price-point and screen-size, and the Dell is among them.
Like others:
* It has a large, bright 15.5 inch screen offering a resolution of 1080 HD.
* It includes a processor with plenty of power.
* It sports a beefier graphics card than most general-use laptops.
* It includes a full set of connections: 1 HDMI, 1 Ethernet, 3 USB-A, 1 USB-C, and a headphone jack.
* It has the latest WiFi and Bluetooth standards.
* It is heavy and can become hot.
* It is fun to use.
As for the Dell - G15:
* it’s keyboard has slightly smaller keys than others, though I did not notice any problem when typing.
* It includes a keypad. I understand the need of that for those gamers who use the keypad. I’m more of a casual gamer and play with my Xbox controller connected via bluetooth. As a result, I personally wish there was an option to not include the keypad.
* Other than the colored backlight for the keys, there aren’t any colorful ‘gaming’ highlights to the outside or inside of the unit. Personally, I like that a lot. I’m not a fan of the flashy units, but that is subjective and a matter of taste.
* It offers 1TB of SSD storage where some others only offer 512GB.
* The Dell - G15 sports an AMD Ryzen 5 7000 Series processor with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card. Although there are many variations found in entry-level gaming laptops, most offer solid performance. I did not have any problems with the Dell. The only exception was when I blocked the bottom vents and it slowed a bit due to overheating. I corrected the problem and it performed great.
If you’re looking for a solid, entry level gaming laptop, the Dell will fill your need well.

Returned this 10 days after getting it. It kept turning off and eventually I just got the solid white, red and clue screen that would flash. The laptop wouldn’t work after that. I immediately returned it for a refund. I searched a YouTube video to hopefully be able to fix the issue. However the comment sections were filled with negative reviews of the same issue. So I know it wasn’t just the laptop I had just purchased. The laptop itself is just an awful laptop.

I needed to upgrade my old gaming laptop and I found that this one was perfect and exactly what I was looking for! Not too big, but plenty substantial! This isn't a lightweight "work" laptop, I would describe this as "beefy" and "capable". It has everything I need, and nothing I don't! I love the detail and lines on this, you wont confuse this for any other type of laptop but a gaming one! Its kind of futuristic looking, and I think the keyboard lighting almost makes it look menacing! Enough about looks, how does it perform? So far, awesome! The RAM and 1TB HD has been the perfect fit for my games and the new processor has been surpassing my expectations, and I admit, I have high expectations when it comes to processors and speed! The best feature for me (probably because my old laptop didn't have it) is the "G" or "Gaming" feature.... just tap the button and the laptop is optimized for gaming, with higher fan speeds to quickly cool it down and faaaaaast processing speeds, I love that! ALL laptops designed for gaming should be capable of enabling this MAX performance. Buy with confidence, great Christmas gift, I think it would exceed anyone's expectations!

If you want a gaming laptop, this definitely looks like the part. So, I can go really positive or really negative and I’m not sure which way to go as I wouldn’t recommend this laptop to myself but also; my 8-year-old loves the look of it far more than my other gaming laptop, he isn’t exactly into the specs (stealth gaming laptops aren’t exactly what he is looking for at his age). So, I am thinking this might be the perfect laptop for his first gaming laptop in which case I think it is great.
The graphics are good, it can run any game I want, especially with the screen being 1080 which I tend to prefer anyway, not all games will be at max specs but it will still look good, if you know you’re graphics cards you probably aren’t looking for this laptop anyway but if you are a buying for a heavy gamer you may want to look at the specs of their current rig before buying anything. 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD means that room isn’t too much of a problem, it will be able to handle a few big titles and a ton of smaller games as well. I have become a fan of Ryzen, it is a little more complicated but on a basic scale Ryzen 5 is between an i7 and an i5 in range of performance, my gaming laptops the last while have all been Ryzen and I have been extremely happy with the performance. The graphics card is by far the lowest spec; most of the other gaming laptops around this one have a 3050 as well with maybe an exception one or two that is on a really good sale and might be lacking in the hard drive or other area. This play into, if you are on a budget this is a good graphics card but it is definitely at the bottom of good.
The keyboard is interesting, it isn’t RGB but is lite up and orange in color, but it types more like my work laptop (which is a Dell as well) than most gaming laptops, it is a pleasant typing experience and maybe the decision came down to if your budget gaming you may need to use the laptop for more than one use and the keyboard definitely supports fast comfortable typing and has a num pad which is really nice. The only thing to get used to is that the S has a mark, which is great for placing your left hand for gaming but a little weird to get used to it being there for typing.
The speakers aren’t great, they get loud but they have a little bit of a tinniness to them that surprised me. They certainly work but they aren’t my favorite. Now to be fair, I will never game using the speakers unless I am in desperate straits so I suppose I should be thankful they get loud for movies and such.
I love the port layout, if you are left-handed you will probably hate the Aux and RJ45 ports but I’m not so I think they are placed perfectly… sorry. The power, one USB C, one USB A, and one HDMI port are on the side with another two USB As on the right side of the laptop. I love that my mouse and power are plugged in on the back and just stay out of the way. Then the Aux is on the left side and that lines up with the side of my head pretty nicely so overall the laptop is well thought out, at least for me.
The mouse pad is tiny, but once again, I only use the mouse pad when I’m desperate and for as short a time as possible and I don’t even think about trying to game with it so it being tiny isn’t exactly a giant deal for me.
The size and girth is a little much for being a take to class everyday but it’ll run every application I needed in college including AutoCAD, mathCAD, and others so pairing this with an ipad, remarkable, or other device would be a pretty good mix if that is a need…. Or just dealing with a heavy backpack sometimes.
So overall, would I ever buy this for myself, no; would I ever buy this for my kid to get into gaming with, yes. I'll let you decide where you fall on that scale.
