After an early hiccup, I have been impressed with the Dell G15 15.6" Gaming Laptop with AMD Ryzen 5 and, more importantly, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050. The early hiccup is that the computer started overheating and struggling to run anything above 20 FPS while only browsing. Plus, the fans wouldn't turn on. This happened around day three of use. Task manager showed no background tasks. Issue was resolved after installing a critical graphics driver update. However, this was through Dell Assist, and the update did not show up through the standard Windows Update process. But the update corrected the issue and the computer has run very smoothly ever since. Of course, like any new computer, there is a degree of bloatware. I recommend removing those programs. To be clear, this is a mid-level gaming laptop. It has solid specs that will work just great for the vast majority of gamers out there. With 6 cores and 12 threads, it is perfect for a minimal gamer who sticks to AA games or low processing AAA games. It has plenty of storage with 1 TB for all minimal to moderate gamers. And you have great fps with 16 GB of RAM. This little guy chugs right along and runs League of Legends with ease at more than 240 FPS. The NVIDIA graphics drivers are easy to update and don’t have any issues running any games. The sound from the speaker is very good for a laptop. Now that the fans do run, they are a touch on the loud side. That seems typical at this price point. It includes a G button for increasing performance for gaming. This increases speed but also the noise. The processor handles multitasking effectively, even while running games. Just a note to mention the power brick is pretty substantial. The design and look of the laptop is just fun. Overall, the laptop seems to be at a fair price and ideal for minimal to moderate gamers. I am happy to recommend it.

Offering many expected features, Dell ops for the top notch AMD Ryzen 5 series over the Intel iCores. NVIDIA remains under the hood going head to head with other competitors... no skimping here! The G15 brags if a 15.6 FHD display offering a good field of view, bright and rich colors, while limiting the dark corners. Thermal cooling ensures your laptop remains at peak performance during your most challenging gaming and the gear shift options allows you to customize your computer settings to give you the edge you need. Rivalling gaming desktops, this compact PC allows you to take your gaming on the go with PC or Xbox games when you want them most. I found this Dell G15 to be a nice upgrade from other gaming laptops I have used. It is a quality build, nice keyboard backlighting, and customizable where you need it. The full keyboard is nice as it offers the 10-key... I am guilty of using my gaming laptop for work from time to time, so this is a must for me on any computer! The gaming demand and component load was easily managed by this computer with the quality Ryzen 5 - 7000 series and the NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX. No complaints here! PROS - Dell quality, name, and brand recognition - AMD Ryzen 5 - 7000 series is excellent - NVIDIA RTX keeps up perfectly is high action - 15.6" FHD 120hz is good and manages well in fast video settings CONS - Would like to have seen this in a UHD screen with 240hz option, but no complaints with the configuration

Dell has another competing laptop for the gamer in the G15. Packaging is pretty basic but easy, power cord, laptop. Charger is beefy at 240w. Laptop has a nice red backlight to the keys which gives a decent aesthetic. You get a fast 120hz screen, windows 11 home, 16gb ram 1tb ssd, everything you need to game comfortably. Battery life is solid found myself for gaming for multiple hours without need to look for my charger. Keys are low height but feel good and didn't feel like I was missing many keystrokes. GPU is perfect suited to the screen so you can run most games on medium to high comfortably. Thermals seem good, there is an optional performance mode you can toggle on to send the fan into overdrive but it's very loud, seems to do just fine without it. Just watch out for backlight bleed on the screen the particular unit I received had it bad in the lower right corner. Expect a bit more QA from a company like Dell on something like this, hence my 4 star rating. All in all its a solid gaming machine and everything comes together nicely, won't break your budget and get you into your game of choice.

I am loving my new Dell Laptop. It's quick and powerful. Startup and downloads are quick. As a gaming laptop it's very powerful. I have played my games with mostly high settings and this laptop has had no problem loading and running them. No heat problems. The fan does get loud at times, but it does it's job and keeps the laptop cool. Streaming videos has been no problem for this laptop either. The screen is large enough, but there is also an hdmi port in the back to connect a monitor. The power cord is also located in the back which I much prefer to having one on the side. There are also a headphone jack, ethernet port and usb ports on the sides and a usb-c port in the back. The speakers are the best I've heard on a laptop, the sound really comes through. I'm usually trying to turn the volume up when it's already maxed, but I've actually needed to turn the volume down a few times on this one. The keyboard is responsive. I like that it has a number pad and that the touchpad is off center which helps to keep me from hitting it accidently.

The Dell - G15 15.6" Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 - 16GB Memory - 1TB SSD - Dark Shadow Gray packs enough horsepower and features for anyone wanting to play modern AAA games without breaking the budget. The overall build quality of the laptop seems excellent. The screen has a very solid feel when opening and the base is heavy enough to allow opening with one hand. The chic-let style backlit keyboard with red backlight has a solid tactile feel and the num-pad is tightly joined with the other keys to keep the form factor down. The track-pad is decent size and has a firm click to it when pressing down. The 15.6" 120 HZ fast refresh 1080p display looks great when doing day-to-day tasks, playing games or watching videos. The bezel size is fairly slim on the sides. I bit thicker on the top and bottom. The screen is matte finish so no need to worry about reflections from lights. Not a touchscreen. Crisp and vibrant colors with a decent amount of brightness at max brightness (250 nits). There is an integrated 720p webcam in the upper bezel and it does a decent job for video conferencing apps. Frame-rate is decently smooth and picture quality good. The AMD Ryzen 5 7000 Series 6-core CPU did well in performance tests for both productivity and gaming. The laptop feels smooth and responsive with Windows 11! The 16 GB of DDR5 RAM and 1TB PCIe SSD are a nice bonus is this price-range and allow plenty of breathing room to keep things running smooth while multitasking. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 performed in the 100+ fps in 1080p gaming and would be decent in 2K for most games with medium settings. I played Fortnite with Epic settings and was running in the 90-110 fps range most of the time. Borderlands 3 with Ultra settings came in around 80-90 fps in 1080p. Should be an enjoyable and smooth gaming experience for most people! Fan noise while under stress does get pretty noticeable, but not excessive. Some people will probably find it noisier than others. The laptop does have room for expansion but you'll need to open the base to access the ram and SSD slots. Battery life is good with about 6 hrs of video playback with power saving turned on and 20 % brightness. Recharge time was around 2hr from 0 to 100%. Since it's a gaming laptop / desktop replacement there is a decent amount of weight. Probably not something you'd want to lug around daily with the power brick. Best performance obviously when plugged in. There are a decent amount of ports on the laptop. On the left side you have a LAN cable port and 3.5mm audio jack. Right size there are 2 USB-A 3.2 ports. On the back you have the power cable port, another USB-A 3.2 port along with an HDMI and USB-C 3.2 port. Integrated Bluetooth and WiFi. The steros sound quality is crisp / bright with plenty of volume range. The included Dolby Atmos software does allow you to select from presets for different EQ settings, but I did not find a manual EQ in the settings. That would be nice too. The laptop comes with McAfee antivirus pre-installed and a subscription included. Also 1 month of XBox Game Pass Ultimate. Otherwise the laptop is pretty clean without a bunch of bloatware. Overall, I think this would make an excellent budget gaming laptop for the majority of 1080P gamers and well as an excellent desktop replacement.

We got this Dell G15 Gaming laptop for our 11-year-old son to replace an aging HP Omen gaming laptop. He was happy that it was a lot quieter than his current laptop as his old one has gotten to a point where it gets a bit noisy as it heats up. As he plays a variety of streaming games, as well as religiously watches YouTube, ease of use and clarity and responsiveness of the graphics were paramount. While the graphics lived up to expectations, providing seamless movement in all directions without pixelation and lag, the ease of use fell short. The keyboard layout created significant delays in entering commands from what he was used to, so adaptability to a new platform created significant friction in the overall gaming experience. Overall, if you're purchasing this device as a gift, it's probably well worth it to gain the actual user's input before making a significant investment. They might have preferences as to where things are located on the keyboard that would detract from their experience if the actual layout was not intuitive. If you're purchasing this for yourself, rest assured that the performance is exactly what you would expect.

This laptop is compact in the size but is a little heavy and bulky. This is really not an issue for those wanting the extra gaming power it provides. The screen opens easily and the 15.6" screen looks great. It also has 120hz refresh rate for fast action games. The keyboard is easy to type and is compact compared to a full size. There are separate number keys as well. Startup and updating is easy. Dell does a very good job of including Dell Update software that checks for all software and hardware updates to effortlessly install. As an added bonus, there is a one year subscription included to McAfee antivirus. There is only USB and USB-C on the back of the laptop. There is a HDMI connection as well. I effortlessly connected a Bluetooth headset and xBox controller. The 1TB SSD provides plenty of space for games. I was able to several of the latest gaming titles on the highest settings with no issues. The RTX3050 GPU has 6GB of RAM and the memory has 16GB RAM. This is plenty enough to run the latest games in full HD. Other than the limited connection ports, there was only a few negative items. The screen camera does not have a camera but you can buy a third party cover or just put tape on it when not in use. The power cord has a very large brick. This may be a little cumbersome when traveling and trying to fit in your laptop bag. Overall, it is a great gaming laptop and desktop replacement.

This Dell G15 15.6” Gaming Laptop is just what my 12 year old was hoping for. He can play Roblox without lagging for hours. He uses it with a sturdy keyboard and mouse. It works perfectly so far.

So far it is doing what I bought it for. Fast and efficient with no lagging during multitasking.

More than I expected. Plays every game I throw at it

I had an issue with BitLocker when first starting but was able to solve the issue with the help of YouTube. I was so frustrated I almost returned it.

Laptop is great quality as far as looks Sucks for running games like Forza Motorsport, I have so much lag with no open windows other than the game alone and offline. I cant imagine how it performs online.

I regret to inform you that the laptop I purchased is not functioning as expected. It frequently freezes or restarts every 5 minutes, and on rare occasions, it crashes and deletes all my school-related files. In my opinion, it is not worth the money I spent on it. I advise others to avoid this product to prevent experiencing the same nightmare I am currently facing.

Had it for less than a month and the audio port stopped working.

Purchased summer of 2022. Dead today. Warranty expired in July and it just died in the middle of a session this morning. Power ring is lit on the cord, but nothing happening in the laptop. Very frustrated.
