It would not turn on. After a while of trying to get it to work, I was able to get the fans to come on for a split second but nothing on the screen. I had to return. However, during the short period of time I did get to experience it, I did really like it. It was extremely fast, very quiet, and it didn't get very hot like a lot of other gaming laptops do.

Thank you for your review. We apologize for the trouble you have come across with your G5. We really appreciate your feedback. We apologize for your experience and have provided steps below that can assist with your startup issues if needed in the future.
1. If the computer is displaying the Dell logo and does not move past that point, it has probably failed POST.
2. If the power indicator lights up and it is amber or orange, this is usually an indicator that it has failed POST.
3. If you see text on a black screen, the computer is currently performing the POST. If the computer stays in that condition and does not move past it, it has probably failed POST.
4. If the video screen displayed anything at all during the startup process but is now black, this probably indicates that the computer failed POST.
5. If the computer is beeping or if Caps/Num/Scroll Locks are flashing, note if there is a particular pattern in which it beeps or flashes.
6. If the computer is not beeping and caps/num/scroll locks are not flashing, unplug all connections and remove all media communication devices (e.g. external monitors); reconnect one at a time and check if the computer functions.
7. For a notebook, press and hold the Fn key and then press the power button. This starts the pre-boot testing and will launch ePSA. In case you have a Desktop at the Dell logo screen tap the F12 key to enter One Time Boot Menu and use the arrow keys to highlight Diagnostics and press enter.

Worked great until it got too hot to touch

I understand that these gaming laptops are ok to get hot but I should not feel it on the keyboard and mouse pad. It got to the point where I could not put it in my laptop or put it on anything that could melt because it was that hot. I loved the specs and it was fast but the heat was too much of a problem.

Stopped working right after warranty was up and no help from Dell but send in and we will charge you. Found out they're having issues with their hard drives and pretty much don't care. Would NOT recommend to anyone. Got an HP Spectre and love it.

This fits the bill. The only problem is occasionally it will freeze for about 10 seconds.

Every time I run updates from Dell, my computer functionality goes wacky. I have to reinstall windows to fix the problem. Sometimes my keyboard backlight works. My system BIOS always says it fails in uploading however it says it's an urgent update. The video player shuts down in the middle of playing. Bluetooth sometimes turns on, sometimes doesn't. The computer runs VERY hot. I have no idea why this brand new compute simply will not behave! I recently had surgery and am unable to bring it back for another 5 weeks. Thank god for the extended return time due to COVID. I thought the price I paid was pretty hefty and do not understand why this computer performs so badly. I don't even game on this computer.. i use it for standard functions! Very disappointed.
