Can be configured to lower power usage and I was able to get the battery to go from 7 - 8 hours to over 18 hours by lowering the watt profile from 25watts - 30watts down to 7 - 12watts and the processor auto. Atically scales the frequency of the processor down a bit... Ryzen laptops rock!!

The thermal mitigation design (cpu/gpu heatsink and fan) are inadequite and cannot dissepate the heat fast enough for anything other than browsing the web and maybe youtube. The cpu easily gets above 100 degree celcius when gaming and the gpu hovers above 80 degrees celcius. Clearly a case of inadequite thermal design. I had repasted with 12w/mK thermal past and was able to acheive 5 or 10 degrees better thermal performance, but no where near what I would consider to be "functional" during gaming. Also, there is an issue of no MUX and there seems to be s software glitch in which I was unable to use the dedicated gpu and was forced to use the integrated vega gpu in some instances, it was extremely frustrating. I would avoid this one unless it were priced under $400

Thank you for your review. While were are pleased to hear you are enjoying your G5 by most accounts, we are sorry to hear that the battery life is not quite meeting expectations. Below are some tips to make the most out of your battery.
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.
