For a budget machine, it's barely usable
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HOT, I mean like burnt my fingers hot, FAST, read the first part again. Cheap as possible build quality, plastics are dumpster tier. If you only have $800, it's barely passable. If you have $1300 or so there are FAR better choices.

Great holiday purchase
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very nice machine. Looks beautiful. It manages the heat successfully without being too distracting. I upgraded to 16 RAM from Crucial to make it more ideal. Would have liked 1TB SSD storage. That is more of an expensive upgrade. It is a good value for the holiday price I paid. Great experience with both Dell’s and Best Buy’s customer service.

In my opinion, you should NOT buy this laptop.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start this off saying that really wanted to like this computer. That Ryzen processor looked pretty slick with 8 cores/16 threads. I had two of these machines during the course of two weeks. Exchanged the first one hoping that my first unit was just defective. Nope. The second one had the same problems. Two different laptops. Identical issues. I reached out to Dell and they suggested updating a variety of drivers, so I did that, but it didn't fix anything. Eventually I gave up, returned the second laptop, and exchanged it for the Lenovo Legion 5--which is working pretty good so far. Pros: - It powered on. - The sparkling grey finish is pretty. - Winter is coming, so if you have $1,049.99 to blow on a nice heater, look no further. - BestBuy Customer Service is pretty awesome. Cons: - Nothing fixed the flickering screen (Updating drivers, uninstalling drivers, reinstalling Windows, etc.). - CPU usage would randomly spike to 100%, which made the computer freeze up for a few seconds. It did this pretty often. - The thermals in this machine are TERRIBLE. Just light browsing makes the keyboard get too warm. Check out this thread for more info on this line of laptops' known issues with heat: https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/htqt21/dell_g5_15se_thermal_issues_a_followup/ - The Alienware Command Center would glitch up sometimes, and not detect any of the customizable hardware (RGB Lighting). - On the second laptop, the AMD Radeon Graphics Settings would uninstall itself after updating the drivers. I tried everything short of sacrificing one of my cats to reinstall it, but nothing worked. All-in-all, whether or not you buy one of these testaments to weird engineering is up to you, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Posted .Norman,
We're sorry that your new computer did not work the way that you hoped it would. Thank you for reaching out to Dell's Technical Support Team for additional assistance while setting up your computer. This particular computer did require several updates as well as a BIOS update in order to enhance performance and we're sorry that it seems like that did not meet your needs either. We hope that you will consider Dell again in the future.
Best,
Bryan

Dell laptops are Great!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dell laptop bought for husband who is a senior. Love how the keys light up to help him see them, especially at night. Also love how big they are as the keys on the old laptop were smaller and his hands are big. Dell products are long-lasting. The laptop will be fine to take with us when we go on trips.

Good laptop, bad experience
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It worked very well for the few hours I had used it. But it blue screened and crashes multiple times over the course of a day. I’m sure this is potentially a problem with shipping or an unrelated mishap, and I don’t blame Best Buy at all, in fact when I went it to get a refund the works were very kind and quick and to the point. If you buy this computer just make sure to get the certified excellent open box model as that would be the safest option. Overall not a bad purchase especially since the workers were kind and helpful with getting me a replacement, but as with any open box purchases, you never know what you’re going to get. My specific laptop had unforeseen issues and I don’t blame the company. Technology is a tricky thing

battery not functional upon arrival - exchanging
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To be fair I will start with the fact that I haven't been able take the laptop for a spin and see how it functioned. My review has to do with initial functionality. 3 things: 1. When the laptop arrived, the system told me there was no battery installed. So I have to exchange it. The BestBuy store near me doesn't have it in stock, so I will have to "cancel the order and re-order it". I hope this means that I will get the same price I paid on the website as I ordered open box. 2. While I was in Windows starting to set it up before i realized the battery was not "there"; I walked away and came back 15 minutes later; the laptop had gone to sleep and would not come back on, I had to do a hard reset to turn it back on. No idea what caused this. I hope I am able to exchange it with no issues; will re-review after I sort this out.
