This laptop is a pretty decent purchase. It's got a few minor issues like running extremely hot, but its performance makes up for that.

I bought this laptop for my middle schooler who games, this runs all the games he cares to play, on high or medium settings. I was initially worried about it only having 8GB of RAM, but if you don't keep a bunch of Chrome tabs open you should be ok. When gaming, just close everything else down before starting your game and you should be fine. I bought this based on the price vs performance

I really love this laptop. I have had no glitches or issues since I bought it a month and a 1/2 ago. The only problem that I found is that it gets very hot while playing games and that the battery drains very quickly. I use a really great cooling fan which helps but it still feels pretty warm to me. I have to keep it plugged in while playing but that is not an issue.

The cons of this laptop are that it uses a lot of power and dies relatively quickly depending on what you are doing. Having multiple tabs on Google along with Dropbox in the background kills a full battery in two hours, and even faster if you using multiple Adobe or Microsoft Office software. However it runs so smoothly, and I much prefer it to my older laptop!

After downloading Unreal Engine 5 and trying to work from the laptop, it went well at first. I upgraded from 2020 radeon software and drivers to 21 stuff. It went well for a bit. Then after seeing warning messags from UE5 saying "we recommend 22" drivers, I got it tired of them and thought that I should update the drivers for everything else. Big mistake.
Plugged in/charging, my laptop can no longer pick up the graphics card. Unplugged/running off battery, it picks up the graphics card. doesn't make sense. I thought resetting and installing Windows as fresh as I could would work, but it did not. I tried to reset my BIOS to an older version, but ended up bricking it at the BitLocker step, and I don't have access to the key for whatever reason.
I'd rate this lower, but as far as gaming goes, it does excellent.

This wasn’t a very disappointing purchase. The laptop gets waaay too hot for its own good. So hot that it’s not even comfortable to rest your hands on the keyboard! The fans are running full speed constantly after just a few minutes of movie watching and the fans are really loud! Definitely ruins the movie watching experience. I’m not sure that this should be marketed as a gaming computer as I’m sure these components are going to burn up after just a few months use. And the shell is entirely thin flimsy plastic. The digital “freebies” they give you expire shortly after purchase so I missed out on those. Best Buy customer service pretty much left me out in the cold with this one. Buyer beware. Shop with the ‘zon. They make it right for you every time.

I am impressed. This device is an investment, and if one is ready for a powerful gaming laptop this is absolutely a contender. I feel like I have jumped lightyears from my previously home built PC, to which laptops are their own field of convenience in comparison with mobility advantages.
The silver color of this model is not my go to color (almost all devices I have are black), but it does look sleek and my wife commented on the appearance right out of the box with an “ooo it looks nice”. This is pretty much is the highest compliment any electronic device my receive from her. To add to the overall appearance of this laptop, having a backlit keyboard is a gamer must in my opinion, and this box is checked! The outside also comes equipped with 3 USB ports, 1 USB-C port, HDMI port, SD Card, while also being equipped with Bluetooth (Yay! No lost 1 port there!)
This laptop is equipped with a 512GB SSD. Having an SSD is a game changer (no pun included) even apparent on startup. Having windows load up in seconds is truly a blessing, that one can does not appreciate until they witness it. The newer Ryzen 7 mobile processor allows you put the smooth 144Hz display through its paces. I had always been told that Ryzen is an outstanding product, and for my first experience I must agree. The combinations of this hardware are more than powerful enough to drive almost any game through the display that I could think of. And other than gaming, the computer can handle workstation loads with ease. If you like lots of tabs, it has you covered. Cura and 3D builder worked well, as well as gimp. A solid setup. Virtually ready to go out of the box (minus Dell and Microsoft updates).
The meat of this laptop meal is gaming, and one can absolutely game with this device. To get the ultimate experience, the laptop needs to be plugged in. This would probably be the largest “con” to the system, is that having the system in high performance mode and a long-lasting battery is not compatible. You get one or the other, but if you can plug in the laptop, one can absolutely be satisfied. I like to have games running at 60+fps, and I have not always had that opportunity without sacrifice of graphics. With this system, sacrifice is not necessary (the investment is all that is needed). My favorite PC game to play is GTA5, and this system BLEW my expectations out of the park. A solid 60+fps without having to compromise on settings, and this is truly priceless. I also tested out Skyrim, Ori, and FFX with fabulous results. No issues with crashing, which is something I had previously learned to accept.
The fans do run loud, and the system can get quite toasty if placed on one’s lap; however, for a gamer this should not create much issue. With a nice gaming headset and audio going, the fans can be quickly drowned out. Family members must accept the greatest of the noise. And as far as heat, for myself who can not adequately game laying down or reclining, having a device that gets warm can easily be placed on a desk and problem solved.
Overall, I have not used a Dell product in over 10 years and well, that has changed for the best! And, as a side note, there is nothing quite like writing a review from your new toy.

I bought this "gaming laptop" because I had to leave my desktop behind. My gaming desktop (as is all my desktops) are custom built, and I've used Ryzen chips since the first generation (currently have a 5600X in my desktop). So, since I'm a fan of Ryzen, I thought this would be a great buy... which it was initially. I upgraded the RAM to 16GB (fantastic) and swapped the SSD out for a larger, more 'controlled' SSD (WD Black SN750, also, fantastic). That's about where the good ends. This thing runs HOT. All the way up to date. I've now started experiencing lockups and random reboots, I've restored my computer to factory, swapped parts around (just to rule out issues) and reached out to support... which is what led me to write this review. Support is trying to get me to pay for additional support despite being in my warranty window. They claim my hardware is working 'as intended,' and that 'nothing is wrong with it.' Obviously there is. I'm way... WAY beyond my return date with this and it's beyond usable in any capacity. I'll speak with my local BB store tomorrow to see if they have any sort of option for remedy (to include trading this heap in).

This is a great laptop for gaming. It plays COD Cold War without any issues at all.
There is room inside the laptop for a second M.2 ssd for storage. The bottom case is easy to remove to upgrade the RAM as well. Just follow the very simple instructions from the Dell website. A few screws on the bottom to remove or loosen. No need to remove the keyboard or anything on the top like older dell laptops.
The laptop does get pretty hot so keep that in mind. But it is designed well and heat dissipation does not seem to be an issue.
Make sure to update the video card and chipset drivers before you play any games though. The AMD website auto-detected and installed everything without issue.
The wifi card is supported by Killer control panel, so with the right modem and router you can get over 1 Gig download speeds.
Overall it is a very nice laptop to have for gaming.

I, like everyone else, wanted a good gaming laptop for a fair price while understanding the limitations of a laptop v. Custom PC build. I have a custom build already and just wanted a fair laptop that would pair nicely for when I travel and want to play the occasional game. I compared EVERY laptop on bestbuy within the price range of $600-$1100. I felt that this was a good option for the price and had competing specs with an MSI Intel i7 build. Being that AMD is relatively new to the laptop world I understood what that meant but was willing to give it a try. First impression, yes its plastic.. I didn't mind so much I care about specs mostly. However heavy button smashers will definitely not like this keyboard. ALSO! Of course a gaming laptop will be hot because of the limited space and overall laptop limitations. However, I physically could not hold this laptop any longer. It was extremely hot after just updating all drivers and bios upon purchase. Also when going into the bios to update the Illumination settings for the back-lit keyboard the entire laptop decided to turn off and not turn on again for a duration of 20 minutes. Even on the first day of purchase I noticed skipping in frames just on simple tasks. Of course I did not assume it was all the Laptop and decided to use eternet to test the full capabilities. This laptop failed to live up to my expectations and I really hope AMD continues to learn from this laptop. I will be returning it and purchasing an MSI intel build for their brand reliability when it come to gaming laptops. I really did not want to believe the bad reviews but I think its best to save your money for a better build. I still love AMD and will always choose AMD for my future custom builds but just not in a laptop.

I'll first say this laptop is 100% worth the money only if you invest a few hours into fixing issues Dell should have when designing this laptop. Performs better than the 2060 laptop I had after the following:
- Replacing thermal paste and thermal pads.
- Putting a piece of tape to stop air leaking between the fans and the heatsink.
- Installing the correct drivers. The OEM Windows image comes with an unstable mix of drivers.
- Downgrading to 1.4.4 bios.
Overall brought the temps from ~101c while gaming to about 80-83c under full load. You can also disable smartshift, but do that at your own discretion (google it).
Was even able to get Arch running on it. All in all great laptop.
