Don’t Buy! Hot as heck!

Too bad it’s held back by abysmal thermal design. It literally burns your finger on the top plate slightly above the keyboard. The thermals are so bad that it can cause the computer to slow down.

If system thermals are of concern, you can prioritize cooling by opening the Alienware Command Center application that came pre-installed with your device and select the 'Cool' thermal profile.
Keep in mind that our G7 follows Intel performance design guidelines, which can lead CPU temperatures to reach 100°C to output top in-game performance. We fully warrant the product under these conditions. If you see CPU temperatures rising beyond 100°C on Alienware Command Center, you are more than welcome to contact Dell support for further assistance.

So much so, after about 5 hours of use, I HAD to return it. The cooling system could not handle the power of the laptop, I ended up burning my fingers everytime I went to play a wasd game and had to hold them down to move my character. I would get uge frame rate drops both in and out of the gaming mode. I wanted to like this laptop. I really did, but the experience was just horrible after only 5 hours, I'm curious to see how it would have been after 5 weeks. In my opinion, this is NOT a gaming laptop. Maybe good for production, editing, photoshop, etc. Absolutely horrible for gaming, unless you want rapid random frame rate drops or you want to feel 160+ degrees when you push down on your keyboard. I think I'm more shocked the plastic didn't melt.

I failed to do extensive research. So I traded this for the Alienware and paid the difference to have the 300hz monitor.

The speakers would randomly make static noises when in use. Also it's aluminum but you can tell it's cheaper quality as the fingerprints are insane.

Even after it was sent to Dell for this issue. they said all it needed was a Bios update. well that didnt really work. Like a band-aid, we all know they come off usually to fast. Now on to my extended warranty I purchased with it and its going to GeekSquad ugh! If i had known the extended warranty was not through Dell I would not have purchased it. So now reluctant I am turning it over to them. Other than that its an awesome laptop! love everything else about it. But this is a terminal flaw. IDK lets hope they can replace the heatsync and all is well.
