I purchased this computer a year and a half ago. At first it worked great. Then starting a month or two after I purchased it I started getting blue screen error messages. For the last 3 to 4 months the computer behaved but now the computer is flashing and information is not being displayed correctly on screen. I will never buy another Dell computer again. I have purchased HP computers in the past and the only reason I stopped using them is that the processors and memory became too slow to continue doing current work or I would still be using my old HP computers. I will be buying a new HP as soon as I can.

      Mike10,

We appreciate your feedback. We're sorry to hear about the Blue Screen Errors on your computer. If you'd like to diagnose the errors you can follow these steps:

      1. At the desktop, click the Search the web and Windows box and type "problem reports".
      2. Select View all problem reports to view a list of errors that have occurred on your computer and possible solutions for them, such as updating drivers, flashing your system BIOS, or checking for updates to the software.
      3. Under the Source column, look for Windows and under Summary, look for Shut down unexpectedly.
      4. Right-click the line item and select Check for a solution.

We'd also suggest checking to make sure that your software and drivers are up to date on Dell's Product Page -  http://dell.to/2ndsMlM.

Bought this desktop and 27' monitor, Speed, graphics card and everything about is fantastic. If you are going to be watching movies or video editing even surfing the web. Expect to hear the fan. Before the fan turns on or off you can hear the clicking noise as well as hearing the fan getting louder. I owned a lot of desktops but never once heard the fan noises. So I'm not sure if that's normal on these new machines.

I bought this computer, the upgraded version 8 months ago, the blue shirt swayed me away from the omen because this can be "upgraded". Come to find out it is upgraded to the max after I purchased a gtx1080. Make sure to get a second opinion before buying anything from bestbuy

Not happy with this purchase at all the gpu ran at 80c constantly. Its a blower design with are known to be very loud and hot. Light tasks with this pc are nice because its quiet. Under heavy load its a completely different beast gpu is loud and cpu when under heavy constant load starts to take off. Dell/Alienware need to work on their designs.

      Vtheman77,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your computer is operating hotter and louder than you had hoped it would. We'd recommend updating the BIOS on your computer to see if that helps with the fan noise:

An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.

You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2ENlXfz.

Here are some tips to help keep your computer operating at a cooler temperature:

      1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
      2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
      3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
      4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
      5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
      6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

    Video Editing Boss

To be quick, I run DaVinci Resolve on this puppy and the only time it struggles is with GPU intensive applications, but Resolve is notorious for doing this to almost anything that isn’t a professional grade workhorse PC that costs 2-3x as much as this. Even with that slight hiccup(which you would deal with with any pc for this price) this thing is FAST and POWERFUL. Been using it for a couple months and no problems yet. I’ve crashed it twice, but I was running it pretty hard when that happened. Building your own PC can barely give you this much power for price, and it’s a lot less hassle. If you are video editing, just go ahead and buy this one right here.

    Fast, quiet, nice looking

This machine is super fast. Boot times are incredible. My only gripes are the PCIe x16 is actually only x8 and the SSD isn't NVMe despite the BBY chat telling me it was. Even still, this machine is plenty fast for the few games I play. I can run 4k 60Hz refresh games on this PC. One interesting thing is the case. The one I got is much darker grey compared to the images on Bestbuy's website. I don't know if they are all this way, but the darker looking case is quite nice. I bought it without visiting the store to examine it, so I was pleasantly surprised. This version (Ryzen 7 1800x with Radeon RX580) is nearly complete, and my expansion wishes are small. I do wish it came with a Bluray instead of DVD, but I'm nearly done buying disks. I do wish the power supply had higher capacity, but I doubt I will add much to this PC. I thought 16GB would be low since my older machine was maxed out at 32GB, but Windows manages it well, so I never run out (switching from Chrome to Firefox also helped memory usage). I can upgrade it to 32GB, but RAM prices are currently outrageous having almost tripled in the last 2 years. So I'm glad I can live with 16GB. As for noise, this machine can get a little noisy if gaming, but otherwise it is super quiet.

    Oh man!!

First and foremost, I'm not computer savvy by any means. I talked to a geek squad rep about upgrading my current tower. I wanted it to be able to run the new Anthem game from Bioware with no issues. He essentially said I needed everything from a new processor, new power supply, new graphics card (Have you folks seen the prices on those things?!) .... I mean a complete overhaul. (tower was about 6 years old and it had the nvidia 540 2gs in it, i5 quad core, 8gs of ddr3 ram. That's all i can remember off the top of my head.) He recommended a few towers within my price range. I talked to a few buddies of mine and showed them this particular build. All of my buddies said for the price, that I needed to jump on it. I trust these guys, they build their own computers and said for the price, you can't beat it. This thing run like a champ! The Far Cry 5 was a good bonus that I wasn't expecting. The start up is literally in seconds! I can tell when the fan kicks on, but it's no where near as loud as my old tower. (That wasn't a knock on the tower by saying the fan is loud or anything. It was a pleasant surprise when it kicked on and I noticed it was no where near what my old tower sounded like.) The blue that comes out of the tower when I play at night is a pretty addition as well. Like i said, I'm not a computer guy by any means. However, I trust the input of my friends and for the price and what you get, they said it was a really good buy. I hope this helps whoever is looking for a new computer to do whatever you need it to do and then some! Anywho, I'm thrilled with this thing. I've had it for 2 weeks and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The wife uses it for a couple of things she does on the computer and she asks why did we wait so long to get a new tower. She even gives it the stamp of approval.
