This works great for powering my PC and using an external monitor. The mute also integrates with MS Teams, however the sound quality is not as good as Jabra speakers i have used in the past. I keep using it as it is only one device i have to carry instead of two.

After plugging this speakerphone in via USB C, I noticed my MacBook seemed sluggish and MS Teams began to freeze. I was only able to make one successful call before needing to unplug the devices to unfreeze my Mac.
The device looks nice and seems well built but that's all I can say since it created nothing but an issue for me when I tried to use it.

This is a great work companion for various situations. Giving a presentation, making a call and/or simply increasing the amount of ports available on your system, the hub fits the bill…with a caveat or two.
The first thing noticed while unboxing is the construction. Solid build with raised buttons. The unit itself is about the size of a standard circular wireless charger. My initial worry would be the buttons wearing down over time, but time will tell. I do appreciate Dell included a case specifically designed to carry and protect the hub.
Upon plugging into my devices, it was recognized and useable right away. For my usage, I used a Windows notebook computer, a Samsung Note 20 Ultra and a Samsung S7+ tablet. All had no issues recognizing the device. With all devices, it should be noted that it is recognized as a external speaker, so all audio will be routed through the speakerphone. Makes sense to do that, but it is worth noting.
LEDs are bright and vibrant and the buttons are very responsive. Call quality was fantastic and the 360 mic works as described. Participants can be heard from all directions and all equally amplified. For speakerphone usage, it surpasses my expectations.
For the hub aspect, minus a connection or two, it has everything I need to connect, display and share on the go. What I “wish” it had is an ethernet port and a dedicated card reader. Being I can get by or bypass these features through the connected device, I do not hold that against it. The speakerphone is far more valuable to offset those setbacks.
The other huge plus is this hub can output 4K at 60HZ. 30HZ is the norm for most of the all-in-one hubs I’ve come across, So I was pleasantly surprised. The next upvote is the option to display via HDMI or DisplayPort. That’s one less adapter I need to carry. But note, you can only output to one monitor at a time, but at least you have the option for different set-ups.
The only downside I experienced is the configurations. If you don’t use an external power adapter, you won’t be able to use certain devices, mainly being SSD drives. Thumb drives work just fine, but with the gradual increase of usage of USB-C SSD drives, it would have been nice to simply plug and play through the hub. If you use the hub as a power passthrough connecting a power adapter to the USB-C port of the hub, you gain the SSD function, but you’ll lose the USB-C connector to use and will need to convert via a USB adapter to use on the USB ports. The happy medium is to connect to a monitor through DisplayPort, which will give power for everything and offer a competent display should no power adapter be available. Of course there is a workaround for all these scenarios, but if you’re on the go and need quick set-ups, you’ll need to master your configurations for optimal usage.
But, that’s it! I would definitely recommend this little powerhouse to any professional looking to fill this niche. Another plus, if your internal speakers a low quality, this will give your audio a nice boost.

Almost perfect speakerphone hub

Like it or not, Zoom calls are here to stay. Even as in-person office meetings return, there always seems to be at least one participant on Zoom. And that’s where this Dell hub really shines.
The hub is well-designed for small conference room settings. The 360° mic captures voices from all directions. And because it is a hub, you can plug in an external display via HDMI, along with a couple of USB-A accessories such as a webcam.
PROs
• Excellent mic pickup in all directions. After taking several Zoom meetings from a conference room, no one on Zoom complained that they couldn’t hear a participant in the conference room.
• Enough ports to consolidate a monitor plus webcam into a single USB-C connection into your laptop.
• HDMI supports 4K at 60Hz (as does the USB-C connection).
• USB-C port supports up to 90W power, allowing you to charge your laptop when using a power adapter (not included).
• Echo cancellation and noise reduction work well. Again, never got any complaints from in-room or remote participants.
• Volume and mute controls are handily accessible on the speakerphone itself so that you don’t have use your laptop for those functions.
CONs
• Unlike my other external USB hub (which does not have a speakerphone), I have to plug the Dell hub into a power adapter in order to use an external monitor with my external webcam. Without the power adapter, the external monitor works fine. But once I plugged in an external Logitech Brio webcam, the hub would not pass through its signal. It took a bit of trial and error to figure this out.
• The max volume on the speakerphone is a bit low. It’s not terrible, but could be a little higher for conference room use.
• The built-in cord that plugs into your computer is too short. At about 18”, flexibility is limited in positioning the speakerphone on a conference table, or even a desktop for WFH.
• The control markings on the speakerphone (for volume etc…) are subtle. There should be more contrast against the gray mesh.
The world of virtual and hybrid meetings has made conference room and office setups just a little more complicated. Fortunately, this Dell speakerphone hub can help streamline your equipment into a single cord to plug into your computer.

Short Cord But Perfect Laptop Accessory

Cord is too short for Desktop computers. There you have it! It’s the only downside to this Speakerphone/hub. Dell did a great job with hiding the USB-C cord when not in use but unless you use it only with a laptop, you’ll be challenged. When using it with my tower PC, for instance, the cord hardly reaches the edge of my desk despite the fact that I’m using a port built on top of the PC, which is at arm’s length.
Being connected to USB-C, the hub powers and is powered with just one cable. No charger or power bricks needed. The output ports are two USB 3, one HDMI, and one USB-C, which can even charge other devices and transfer data at very high speed. The HDMI port can be used with an external screen, such as a TV.
I have used it mainly for video conferencing, using the camera on my PC or laptop. People immediately noticed the difference in voice quality, even the first time I used it. The echo cancelling feature was probably the first thing they noticed because there was always some noticeable echo that people complained about before I started using it. I don’t know if it’s just the mic sensitivity or that it absorbs sounds from the desk but people could hear my typing louder than ever. I couldn’t figure out a good solution for that other than using the easily accessible mute button when I was not talking.
If I were to complain about anything other than the short cord, I would just say that the nice buttons are not illuminated. The LEDs under the fabric do nothing to reveal those buttons in the dark. What is good is that the buttons are just raised icons. They look really nice and stylish, and there are many: mute mic, mute speakers, hung up, volume up and volume down. All very discrete, though charming. In short, with this Dell Speakerphone, you carry a great speakerphone and multi-port hub with your laptop and not look too geeky. It is nice even in a work-from-home world. Here’s hoping I can find a USB-C extension cord for my tower PC.

Perfect for Home Offices/Zoom Classes

I recently started grad school. I also purchased a new laptop and an external monitor that connects via USB. I wanted to use it for my zoom classes and remote work. Prior to the Dell product, I used to connect a lot of USB type-c connectors and have a lot of cables coming out of my laptop.
The Dell mobile adapter speakerphone takes away the cables. It has two USBs, 1 HDMI, 1 type USB (I used it as a charge port), and a built-in microphone. The control buttons are on top of the speaker. You can answer, hang up, increase or decrease volume, and a mute option.
I used this speaker for my zoom classes. The audio quality sounds good when the professor speaks. It's not too loud or low. I can hear it clearly. I did notice it sounds muffled or too many lows sometimes, mostly when the speaker plays a video. I did find the speaker making a cracking noise.
I also used this speaker to play music. I do not recommend it. The music quality from the speaker is poor. You are better of listening to music through your headphones or computer speakers.
I connect my external monitor to the Dell Mobile speaker via USB. I notice is that my external monitor does not work without a power source cable connected to the Dell speakerphone. I used to be able to connect my external monitor directly to the laptop and it works fine. I tried adding the Dell speakerphone with only the laptop and the external monitor does not work. It is disappointing because I am not always gonna be next to a power outlet. I find myself being connected to the power outlet if I want to use both the Dell speakerphone and external monitor. I thought this was important to bring up. I want to like the Dell speakerphone. I like the idea as it eliminates additional cables, and has a built-in speaker but it still feels like it's needs improvements. I still plan to use it for my classes and work.
