Overall this unit works very well as described. I cannot give it a perfect score because one of the main features does not work as expected. First off, this unit is very nice and compact. It has the USB type C cable built in and stores on board. It is about the size of a small disc and comes with a storage pouch. You plug it into the USB type C input on your computer and it immediately recognizes it and it is up and running. The sound is excellent on the unit. The sound gets nice and loud and you can control the volume and talk/end and mute all with on board buttons. It has LED lights that show the volume level with dots and they turn green when you are on a call and they turn red when you are muted. Overall I really like the looks and function. I then tested it out on a Zoom call with all of my coworkers. I sat in a quiet room and sat about 3-4 feet away from the unit and everyone had a hard time hearing me. I think if you are on a conference call in a large room it will be an issue. I had to run a an HDMI cable further to get the unit closer to me so everyone could hear me. I did not like that the mic did not pick me up as the unit advertises an exceptional mic with noise filtering and high quality. I found it to be disappointing. I then connected it to a Chromebook and then hooked up a monitor via HDMI. Please note that the laptop has to have a Type C with display port functionality to be able to connect a monitor. You cannot connect a monitor to a regular laptop without this feature from the type C port. But it picked up the monitor and it worked great with no issues. Overall I really enjoyed using this unit but was ultimately let down by the microphone.

As a person who works from home and teaches remotely, this item comes right on time as I have several weekly conferences with my superiors and colleagues in addition to student lectures and conferences. I am a person who does not like headsets as I prefer inner earbuds. This mobile adapter is great as I do not feel restricted when using this speakerphone as its sound reverberates well in a room. Seemingly, the clarity and crispness during a call are great. Thus far, I have not been told by colleagues, superiors, or students that my voice sounds muffled or scratchy. One cool thing about this unit is that it plugs and plays. Also, I like how portable the unit is as I frequently change laptops out between work units and personal units. Overall, I think what makes this speakerphone a true must-have is that it comes with a USB type C port, USB type A, HDMI, as well as USB-C data display port. This is a true all in one whereas it is equipped with everything one needs for a successful conference call as well as needed device attachments.

This is just such a great product. It is a jack-of-all-trades that will make your desk less cluttered and help in call conference and the overall work from home scenario. It is difficult to point out any flaws. It looks good, has a small footprint and has all the connection points one needs. The pass through power output might be a tad less than anticipated but is not a big deal as it was able to charge my laptop quite efficiently. It is portable as well and can easily slip into your laptop bag to be used outside. I find the USB hub use to be flawless. The speakerphone output is accurate and pleasant. The 4K connection worked seamlessly in my experiments,

    Conference Call Friend

This is a great and simple little conference speaker that doubles as a portable USB dock. It Is very lightweight, thin, and can easily fit in the palm of your hand. There is an attached USB 3.1 Type C cable that rolls up on the hallowed out bottom of the speaker which is just over 1.5 ft long, and can charge your device at up to 90W, which should be more than sufficient. On top of that, you get an HDMI port for connecting to your monitor and two USB Type A ports. That isn’t as full stacked as a full-featured USB dock, with display port, ethernet, additional HDMIs, and more; but for a small portable speaker that doubles as a dock, it works great. Beyond that, set-up is dead simple and fast. You simply connect the attached USB-C to your laptop, USB-C power cable to the speaker (so it can passthrough the power to our laptop) and you are good to go! If you want to connect to another display, you can use the HDMI port to connect a second display. Beyond that, the speaker takes over calling and sound duties for your device, with included volume up and volume down buttons, call-answer and call hang-up buttons, and a call-mute button. Eight LED lights that lie under the mesh cover of the speaker, and provide the indicators for different call statuses (single green light for mic on, circle of red lights for muted, or 1-8 white LEDs for volume level). As far as performance goes, the little speaker works quite well. Voices sound authentic, with clear representation of voice tones and more than enough volume if needed (I typically left it around 50-70%). As for the two-way mic quality, I found that it worked great, picking me up easily at normal speaking distance, but also stepping away a few feet with no issue. It’s a 360 degree mic, so you don’t need to worry about orientation, and features echo and noise cancellation, which removed any smaller background noises not tied to my voice quite well. I typically use Microsoft Teams and Zoom for many of my business calls, and both picked up the speaker and worked out of the box without any issue whatsoever. Now I wouldn’t use this speaker for music, as it really isn’t built for it and doesn’t sound anywhere near the quality of a dedicated music speaker, but for functional business calls and everyday multi-tasking with voice-driven audio, it is great! If anything is missing, it is optional Bluetooth support, which while not needed for core function, would add one additional feature to round out the product. Overall, I like this little device a lot, and plan to take it with me on trips due to its very portable nature and the included soft carrying pouch for it. In the age of working from home, this is a very well designed device.

I received this product in exchange for my fair and honest review, The Dell MH3021P USB 3.1 mobile speakerphone adapter is more than just a great microphone and speaker combination for meetings where you'll be using Zoom or Microsoft Teams with more than 2 people in the room. It's also a terrific desk hub for USB-C and Thunderbolt 3+ compatible laptops, as it allows you to have a single connection between your laptop, your monitor, your USB-C PD-compatible AC adapter, and a pair of standard USB devices (such as a keyboard, mouse, and external hard drive. While it is disappointing that, for the price, it doesn't come with a power adapter or the ability to use this with a Bluetooth phone, it does what it does very well and I had zero issues while testing it. Unboxing was a breeze - pull a piece of tape and slide the box open. The Dell Speakerphone device was in a plastic protector, and you'll find both a carrying case and an insert with simple instructions and warranty information. There is a cable integrated to the unit. As I don't have a USB-C PD power adapter that can charge any of my USB-C laptops, I was not able to confirm if the integrated cable was for only your laptop or if it could connect to a USB-C PD power adapter so you could use a longer USB-C cable to charge your laptop. Along with the USB-C port, you'll also find two USB-A ports and an HDMI 2.0 port. Both my Dell and MSI laptops were able to display 4k video at 60hz on both of my 4k TV sets. I was also able to power two external 2.5 inch hard drives (1 WD Scorpio Black 7200 RPM unit, one WD Black Xbox drive) while using the speaker functionality. So for the speaker and microphones - they're terrific. I was able to walk around my office while having a conversation over Teams and the other party was able to hear me clearly. I also tested the speaker with music, and most things I played sounded decent despite being played back in mono and the lack of bass extension; the audio quality was better than any laptop I've ever used. As for drawbacks, Dell could have included a power adapter with this for the price they're charging. They could have also designed this with a removeable USB-C cable. Otherwise, it's quite stylish and works well. Also, had this come with Bluetooth so cell phones could be easily connected, this would have been perfect. All in all, I can recommend the MH3021P for those of you with USB-C laptops who need a docking station or want a speakerphone for skype, teams, or another teleconferencing solution.

So, I got the Dell-Mobile Adapter Speakerphone and it works great. I plugged it into my PC that doesn’t have Thunderbolt, but it has a USBc slot. I have a Thunderbolt hub that offers the ports this does, but the speakerphone is the kicker. This PC has a Blue microphone, but usually, I have it disconnected. Plugging the Dell fixes that for me. Its small footprint is what I need on a daily basis. So, the first place I went to was the Dell webpage for the MH3021P. There I downloaded the manual and found a firmware upgrade. It mentioned it’s needed to work with OsX. I have a Mac Mini late 2014, I5 Intel model connected to my main TV, so I did the upgrade. It took longer than I thought it should, but I just let it install on my Ryzen 7 PC, and finally, it finished. I then wanted to see how the sound was. I have a soundbar connected to this PC connected by Bluetooth and when I plugged in the Dell, it shut down the soundbar and fired itself on. It’s fairly loud at full volume. It’s got a nice led pattern to show the volume level. I turned it to about 40% to do the testing and it sounded great. First, I fired up iTunes and played a song or two. For what it is, it sounded good. I then wanted to use Alexa on this PC, but as I said, my mic is usually not connected. Not today! I opened the Alexa app and it saw the Dell just like it should. It walked me through the step and before I knew it, I was asking Alexa some basic tasks. I use both Google Home and Alexa throughout the house. I used Cortana too, but Microsoft shut that down. Then I tried it out on a Zoom call and being that it's Zoom certified, I expected nothing less than a great performance. Again, it delivers. Nice to use it on the table/desk rather than earphones while still having echo canceling and noise reduction. I love the raised control buttons on the speaker grill. At three and nine o’clock, there’s a phone answer and phone disconnect. At six o’clock there’s a microphone and then at five and seven, there is a plus and minus button for volume. The ports on the sides are (2) USB-A 3.1, HDMI 2.0, USBc, and (2) microphone openings. The microphones are omnidirectional. The cable winds nicely under the unit for storage, but if you’re like me, you’ll be leaving this plugged into one of your machines. If you are remote working from home or use your PC for meetings, interviews, or other video conferencing, this would make a great addition to your war chest. I’d recommend it to my friends.

I’ve also been working from home on Teams and Zoom calls all day long. I got this so that I don’t need to be on a headset all day. It is a very nice design - flatter than I thought it would be, very solid, and nice cable management built in (the attached usb type c cable wraps around the based for storage). It also comes with a soft carrying case - I don’t anticipate using this, but it would provide minimal protection if in a backpack. The microphone on this is very good. I’ve asked several people that I interact with daily about the mic quality and all agreed that it sounds great. The speaker quality is OK, it gets loud enough for me. The controls are easy to use and very obvious - they are rubberized capacitive touch buttons that are raised off of the speaker just a bit so they are easy to feel. The lights are a nice touch - easy to see and very obvious if you are muted or not. The ports are nice, but I wish there was one more. I like to keep my keyboard and a couple of tokens plugged in, and I’m just missing one. This is a small annoyance, though, because there are 2 USB ports pointed toward you so they are easy to access. I’ve been using this with the HDMI connection which has been working great. There are really no negatives, if you need a solid performing speaker phone to get a break from headsets, this is perfect.

Good portable speakerphone with many features

This Dell mobile speakerphone has many great features and overall I would recommend, but there are some quirks and room for improvement. Pros: - Very portable, comes with a nice pouch easy to slip into briefcase - Sleek design with USB-C cable that tucks away conveniently underneath - Lighted controls that make it easy to see which feature is being utilized - Multiple port types - Plug n' Play with no software to install - Works well with Zoom - Works well as a speaker/microphone standalone Cons: - I found the touch controls on top a little hard to see and they were almost too responsive. If you try to move the speakerphone, you inadvertently alter the controls - The volume control on the speakerphone only went from 0 to 16 to 34 to 50. No in-between increments unless I used the volume control on my Dell Laptop. Not sure if this is a flaw or if my speakerphone has a glitch. The sound quality of the speakers was surprisingly good - beyond what I was expecting. I tried on both conferencing and on music videos and thought both were acceptable. Not high end, but adequate. Overall a nice portable conference speakerphone with extra usability such as charging and speaker/microphone.

I use this speakerphone during teaching sessions where I have remote instructors in addition to the classroom instructors and this thing is simply amazing. Sound quality is crisp and detailed, is absent feedback, and even minimizes echos in the room. I do not know how they do it, but it just works. The microphone (s) are incredibly sensitive but not noisy on the other end with extraneous noise picked up in the room. Speaker volume controls can be done with the buttons on the top or using your computer. Putting on mute lights up red LEDs to let you know microphone is off. The USB-C cable wraps around the speakerphone nicely and stores in a pouch. I have a laptop that uses a pass-through USB-C power delivery and this speakerphone handles it no problem. I have not yet used the USB-A ports to power anything and do not know how much power they will supply, but if you are using a thumb drive or similar device, they work fine. Bottom line - a compact well thought out and engineered speakerphone that is without peer - especially at this price. Being portable and self-contained is a real plus for us road warriors. The teacher gives this an A+.

I typically just use the built in mic and speakers on my MacBook for using zoom or other conferencing tools. This is a welcome addition. It is a very clear and crisp speaker and puts the volume, answer, end and mute controls right there in front of me versus using the mouse or keyboard. Not that it is difficult using them, this is simply more convenient. Although great for tele-conferencing, the most important thing about this device is that it's not just a speaker, it's a USB-C adapter that has multiple ports allowing power pass-thru to charge your laptop, connect an external monitor at 4K resolution or for external devices utilizing either USB 3 and 4 connection types. There is one USB-C adapter for data, video or power, one HDMI port and two USB-A ports for other peripherals such as mice and keyboards or HDD's. It's a great addition to any home or business office setup. Definitely recommend giving this a try, you won't be disappointed.

Now that I am predominantly working from home, I spend a lot of time on video calls. I’m tired of keeping a headset on or buds in my ears and my laptops speakers just don’t cut. This Dell speakerphone/hub has been an awesome addition to my work from home setup. Not only is this a great speakerphone, it also acts as a hub, with USB ports, power pass through and an HDMI out port. When working from home I use a dock that supports dual monitors, so I use this simply as a speaker and usb hub. The included usb-c cable is the perfect length and I love how it stores under the device. All of the ports and video output will really come in handy when I travel and it comes with a little pouch as well. This is a great device and I highly recommend it for any WFH or travel setup.

I was looking for something that I could use all day long for meetings. Headphones work well, but become uncomfortable after long periods of use. I received this during a training class and I was pleased with the audio quality. I could hear things clearly and my voice was clear when I had to speak. The design is very well thought out giving complete control by buttons on the top of the device. This serves not only as an audio/conferencing device, but also as an expansion device. This will drive a monitor with built in HDMI, USB C and two USB A slots. The USB C cable is attached and there is a channel on the bottom to store the cable. A very nice carrying case is also provided. The design is compact and sleek and the quality is exceptional.

I have been using the Dell Mobile Adapter Speakerphone for a few days now and it's good but not great. I'd give it 3.5 stars but Best Buy doesn't let you do half stars. I'm erring on 3, mainly because of audio quality. The BIG thing you probably want to know is audio quality. The Dell Mobile Adapter Speakerphone has only 2 speakers for picking up voice. They have a bad placement choice, either side of the HDMI and USB C cable. It just seems like an odd choice, as having cables pointing towards you isn't the way I would typically setup my system. So the microphones face away from me. The end result, in my tests, with multiple people and using different software (Teams, Zoom, Skype) to people on the same software or to their phones... well it sounded like I was underwater or in a cave. A little disappointing. The good - it's incredibly easy to setup. I'm on Windows 10, USB C just plugs in and works. No drivers or software needed. It has USB C pass through, so I can plug my laptop USB C into the Dell Mobile Adapter and then the Adapter into my laptop and the laptop still charges #win. The Dell Mobile Adapter Speakerphone also had 2x USB A ports and 1x HDMI port, making it a pretty useful port extender. I also like that Dell included a handy pouch and the USB C cable wraps neatly around the base. This is perfect for on the road or ad-hoc meetings, as it's light, portable, and neat enough to throw in your laptop bag. The touch controls on the top of the The Dell Mobile Adapter Speakerphone are clear, easily identified and responsive. No lag. Bonus. I tested this on my iPad Pro. It doesn't work as a speakerphone on the iPad. It's not something they even suggest. I just tried for fun and thought someone else might want to know.

First off, this plays really nice with Dell computers that sometimes don’t play nice with other USB C hubs with power injection. I really like the design and pretty much everything about it. The volume buttons and mute button work with Android, however, the call accept and hang up don’t. This information is purely bonus as it in no way states that it works for anything except Dell PCs, in fact it has a list of Dell compatible devices. It works perfectly fine with any USB C laptop from what I’ve been able to test. So now to the usability. It is definitely meant to be portable and it does that extremely well. The cord wraps up nicely below so you about an 18” cord without trying to figure out where to store it. This cord is the one to the laptop, not the power cord. The power cord and brick is sold separately, if your laptop came with a USB C charger then you can just use that, if not you’ll have to buy one separately. This charges up to 90W, if you use a non-Dell charger your Dell laptop may state that it is connected to a low power source, but mine laptop charges just fine anyway, I don’t get this error on my other PCs and the Power Delivery does not work with Android. So what really makes this stand out to me is the microphone and speaker, the speaker is nothing to write home about, it is great for voice calls, not so great for music but it gets by in a pinch. The microphone is perfect, everyone can hear my clearly. Overall this is an amazing little device for adding the ability to have conference calls on the go. If you’re in the market for what this has to offer, I don’t think you can go wrong with this device. Pros: Speaker Integrated Excellent Mic Easy to use large buttons for calls, volume, and mute 2 USB A ports Power Delivery Nice Cord storage and cord is extra long Cons: Only 1 HDMI port USB C port only for charging and no other USB port

This is the perfect portable speaker and microphone for laptop or android phone. It is loud and clear and has red light indicator when the mic is in mute. The buttons are touch sensitive. I am using it for my USB -C android phone which does not have a headphone jack connector. Unfortunately I was not able to connect it to my iOS phone because I could not find an adapter. This little speaker is really nice for in office or home use. I does not have a battery though.
