For the current sale price of $100 this 23” is a real bargain. I originally bought one for my mother months ago for a much higher price. However, when I saw this massive price drop, I bought one for myself as a general use laptop monitor. Now for the rundown… The Good: -InfinityEdge bezel psychologically makes screen real estate appear larger than it is. -99% sRGB coverage out of the box with calibration certificate. -True IPS panel (vs. mid-range VA-IPS panels marketed as IPS) -Glossy screen for more clarity (can be a negative in bright rooms however with reflective glare). -Low power consumption and heat output. -Sleek design with minimal footprint. -D-Sub (VGA) input for older laptops and computers with no HDMI/Display Port out. -When calibrated with a professional level monitor calibration tool, the display quality, specifically regarding colors and black level, are well above its price range and closer to a 10-bit panel. The Bad: -No VESA mount, no interchangeable option for other Dell stands, and no height adjustment – only tilt adjust on the stand (but I knew this going in). That's rather disappointing since I have several Dell monitor full adjust monitor mount stands laying around doing nothing. -Only a 1-year warranty. Inexcusable for a business-class oriented monitor line which Dell targeted in between basic consumer and professional (UltraSharp) classes. Personal thoughts: Dell’s new S2x19NX series were introduced in April 2017 and came in 23”, 24”, and 27” flavors. So yes, it is a year and some change old, but that is not unusual in monitors. Usually when retailers have fire sales like this, it means a replacement model series is coming. And history from my perspective means that isn’t always a good thing. Now to respond to a complainer about no speakers, the NX line doesn’t have built in speakers – that’s for the H-series. But I’ve always thought of monitor speakers as a waste of resources anyway. If you want sound, buy speakers people. And for the love of heaven people PLEASE do your research before buying! If you are unsure, ASK! There are plenty of tech nerd volunteers like myself more than willing to assist you. This monitor had an introductory price of $219 last year (I paid $175 through a popular E-tailer for my mother's), so Best Buy offering it for $99 is a steal. You won’t find it at that price elsewhere. I bought this for myself to replace a nine year old 22” 1680x1050 Samsung monitor used as a laptop monitor. So while the size wasn’t a big improvement for me, the increased resolution and InfinityEdge really makes a boost. Of course for my mother coming from a lame 19” 720p monitor, it’s a whole other level to her. I priced the 24” variant here at BB and could not justify the more than double cost ($230 at this posting) only for another inch of screen real estate. If you have an older/smaller/lower resolution monitor, jump on this deal while it lasts. Finally, as stated, this monitor has a glossy screen. While a non-reflective screen (matte) may reduce glaring in bright room/window conditions, it also takes away from the color "pop" and causes characters to look more fuzzy. I find the trade off much better with a higher quality screen and just position the monitor away from back light reflection sources. So keep that in mind depending on your situation.
