Based on the recommendations of the Best Buy representatives I purchased this tower for photo editing needs for my business. I am sorely disappointed in its ability to keep up with this program. I have NOTHING else on my tower but Creative Cloud and it lags so bad.

Worked great when initially purchased. Unfortunately the system is running poorly now a little over two years. I cannot restart the computer unless I want to risk it never running again.

This wasn't a bad system however not all of the equipment worked properly. The dvd/cd failed to function and I returned it but I didn't get another Dell cause like a goof I listened to the advice of a bestbuy sale rep and whind up in getting a laptop in place of my desktop. Not such a good decision on my part. Unfortunately i have to keep this machine cause bestbuy only allows 3 returns total for the year which I have exceeded and that really sucks. But that's alright with me cause I'll just order from other vendors online that i have a better relationship with.

Bought this computer after reading (Mostly)positive reviews. Had it for about 2 1/2 weeks when it began to FAIL miserably. It started freezing up an restarting itself among other things. Took it back to the Monroe LA Geek Squad located in Best Buy in Monroe LA.Two days later they called me up and confirmed that the unit had major issues. Went back and was about to try another of the same model when it was discovered that, that unit was also malfunctioning. Ended up buying a little different model and everything has been great(so far). I want to commend the fine people at Best Buy in Monroe especially the Geek Squad unit there. They work extremely hard and have always been exceptionally kind to me and my family.

I stopped using/buying Dell over 10 years ago because of continue problems. I decided to give them another chance. The PC had fan issue right out of the box. After spending 1 hr on phone with Dell, they said they would overnight part. I just got email this AM, no part can be found. Read about fan issues on the internet about these PC's.

3.5 to 4 stars max. Great but not excellent PC

I "upgraded" from an inspiron Intel i5 chip. Some things were an upgrade, a few were a downgrade, like only 8X dvd-write whereas my 2 year old inspiron has 16X!!!! Speed is better btu I was expecting a lot better. Benchmark "Passmark" overall rating of 3282 wasn't as high as I thought it would be over the 2321 2-year old inspiron. All but disk percentile ranking was 75 to 80% plus. Disk was abysmal 40% percentile. CD rom was pretty bad as well. Then of course there is the DVD not working until you upgrade to firmware v1.09 "AND" uninstall the DVD from device manager. Overall I like it, but not sure 3x the cost of the inspiron was worth it. A single memory stick was a surprise too. Typical they are paired for faster performance. I mean all I ever heard was how the XPS was top of the line, but I think those days are over. Will I keep it? Probably...unless other things go wrong. Given the single RAM chip, DVD speed or lack thereof issue, DVD firmware issue (although fixed for now), and relatively low passmark score, I can't recommend this XPS model. Oh, one more thing on the DVD tray. It is SUPER flimsly. I can no longer insert DVDs with one hand. It's much too fragile and requires two hands to insert/click in a CD/DVD.

    Very Good Machine

I purchased this machine to replace and old HP Envy. Never owned a Dell before. This machine is great. Setup was very easy. The machine is fast and I am able to open 4 applications at once(Photoshop, Excel,Nero & Word) with little slow down. The only con is the DVD drive. Very flimsy. Putitng in cd's or DVD's requires 2 hands, one to hold the bottom of the tray and one to put in the disk. I will probably replace the drive. Do not let that stop you from buying this machine. Well worth the money

    Love this computer except...

    Posted .

for the DVD drive. This computer is perfect for running my software and playing midrange games (with the Nvidia graphics card). However, there is something seriously wrong with the DVD drive. This is actually my second computer. I only had the original computer a few days when the geek squad determined the DVD drive was faulty. I got a new computer. Sadly this DVD drive is unstable. Sometimes it runs and sometimes it doesn't. On the new computer I have discovered that the software that Dell sent wan't correctly configured to work with this drive which caused the DVDs to play at about 1x speed. Also sometimes when I take a DVD out of the tray, something doesn't notice. If I need to play a different DVD, I have to restart the computer to reset things. If playing DVDs are really important to you, this computer may not be the one for you. Except for playing DVDs, I love it though.
