Did not work for me

Well, not for me since the day I got it. I have been using another machine for over 5 years, not an expert but not an absolute newbie either. I tried fine ground coffee from a bit grinder at espresso setting- the shot comes down in drops and 1 shot takes almost 5 mins. If I grind the coffee little coarse, the shot comes down really thin like coffee. Tried 3 different types of coffee, and different levels of grind. Unsure what I'm doing wrong so this machine is going back
