For the serious coffee drinker

Out of the box it is almost jaw dropping with the shiny metal and rock solid construction. You may end up spending more time looking at it the first time then Actually using it Easy to assemble. On a couple pieces need to be put in place and add water and you are ready to go. (Do highly recommend a cleaning before using and consuming just to be safe) Lock and grind your grounds on the left with a full adjustability to pack them in. Move to the right and select the style of coffee you want and brew. After you do it once or twice it will be a no brained Steam milk with and included cup, and add it to your beverage The top of the unit is larger then most to give you a place to put your cup, foaming pitcher, or your favorite additive right there Easy to use water tank, complete removable for filling and cleaning if necessary Grinder is not overly loud, but it isn’t silent So you can get the quality of the fancy multiple-thousand dollar units right in this counter size unit for much less There is a little bit of a learning curve on this unit. You will probably get frustrated the first time. Step back, try again. Once you know the steps it will make sense

It is a bit difficult to use but once you get the hang of it it is fine. I love tge stainless steel look. It gives it a clean look and blends perfectly with my other appliances. Grinding my own coffee beans has been great. I can taste the difference between tgat and store bought grinds. Overall I'm very pleased with this espresso machine.

I was very excited to see that it had finally arrived. Unboxing this espresso machine revealed its true size and heft. After setting it up on my kitchen counter, it looked very daunting with all these controls and whatnot. Kudos to the design/build team at DeLonghi. Not only is this espresso machine massive, but the build quality and sleek stainless-steel design is beautiful. Very clean and shiny and sturdy all around. Inside the package is the espresso machine, filter and filter basket, small pitcher for milk, descaling solution, cleaning brush, and the user manual and quick start guide. My first couple attempts at making coffee were horrible. But I continued for the next couple of days/nights, and started getting a little better. Although I’m far from being a professional barista, the idea that I can make drinks for me and my family is awesome (sorry I’m not making no Pumpkin Spice Lattes). The user manual and quick start guide are both very detailed in showing you step by step how to make coffee, tea, lattes, and cappuccinos. If you’re anything like me, there is somewhat of a learning curve to using a machine of this caliber, but once you figure out all the controls and take your time, you will be making drinks in no time. Over the course of the last couple of weeks, I have made more drinks at home (especially on the weekends) than stopping by SB on my way to work.

Pro Coffee in your kitchen

This machine does what a regular coffee maker does and more. I am not talking about functions—I am talking about how this machines MAKES ME want to do more. First, let me warn you, from a regular non-cooking savvy, non coffee aficionado type of person, this machine can be overwhelming. It is—the knobs, the look, the components of the machine. I did not want to touch it at first. The instructions manual was not that much helpful too—to be honest, the machine itself just has a lot of components—it WAS scary. However, I started watching a youtube video on how things like these work, then I became more conscious of how my regular Starbucks barista does my white mocha—this machine is NOT complicated at all! It does have a steeper than usual learning curve but, hey, now I want to do my own coffee. It has so much flexibility on what you can do. Again, let me be clear, it is not just the functionality of this machine. In fact, I just ordered ingredients on how to make my own white mocha. It makes me want to do my own and even serve coffee to my household. At the cost of this machine vs. the amount of coffee my GF and I buy—in two months I break even. In my third month, I am drinking good coffee for “free!” It is not a simple tool and will require some knowledge but once you unlock those skills, man, Starbucks will be a thing of the past!

It's okay machine.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the machine in November 2020, and it stopped functioning properly today, May 6th 2023. The hopper stopped detecting the coffee beans and the grinder got stuck. Overall, it was an okay experience.

Terrible

I bought one, set it up, ran through all the instructed prepping and priming steps, gave the machine ample time to heat up, and yet the steam wand was only able to prudence cold water every time I tried to use it. Now let me say I’ve worked as a barista for a very popular and very busy coffee place chain so I know how to use espresso machines, including clean them and fix minor mechanical issues. I couldn’t fix this De’Longhi issue however. So I returned it. Picked up a new one because things happen, maybe it got thrown around too much during shopping or whatever. I set up the new one, fill it with beans and water and go to flush water through the circuit and parts as instructed. Only light that comes in is the hot water light. I press it. Hot water comes out. Then stops. And the hot water light goes back on and is still the only light on, and hence the only button responding. I read through the whole manual trying to solve the issue and figured I’m just stupid so I called De’Longhi customer service. After a good hours worth of my time, they said yes something is wrong with this machine too! They offered to send someone out to fix it, but informed me this would take a while. I declined and told them I would be returning it. Two broken $800 machines?!? Ridiculous. I now have a Breville espresso machine that works great.

Great Purchase

Got this on sale during Black Friday 2020 for $650, chose over Breville which wasn't on sale at the time. Looked at them both in person, DeLonghi is better looking, looks great on my wet bar. Also had the auto tamper which the equivalent Breville does not offer, this actually makes the process much quicker, if you use every day or making multiple for guests, it is a nice feature.

Makes excellent coffee, but machine breaks

Coffee pucks stick inside the machine, steamer pressure has died down, and the grinder stopped working alltogether. Disappointing for $800.

Great cup of coffee, when it works

The first machine worked great for about a year, then the grinder broke for some unexplained reason. My biggest problem with this product isn't the fact that it broke, I get it, things can brake over time. My problem is that the customer support is like talking to an uninterested teenager, who couldn't care less about your issue. I spent over an hour with support on the first machine trying to troubleshoot. The GRINDER WAS BROKEN!! I don't understand how complicated that is to figure out, even over the phone. Anyway, the support rep informed me that we would need to send it in for a repair service. I was told that the box should only take a few days to arrive. After several attempts to find out where my box was, it finally arrived after almost a month! We sent the box in, and the service to get it repaired, took another month, only to send a refurbished one. So our new machine was gone! We were without a machine for over two months. OK whatever, now we have "a new one" (refurbished) around January of 2021. This one leaks where the water filters into the catch at the bottom. No huge deal, since it doesn't leak much. But still very annoying. The real disappointment is that this one broke again just a couple weeks ago. This time the portafilter leaks when the coffee is being brewed. So again, we were forced to call customer service, and the same thing. We got the most annoyed sounding support rep I've ever spoken to. I felt like I had ruined her day, just because I was needing help with my machine. I'm sorry you don't like your job, but the least you can do is act professional while you're on the clock. After spending another hour to figure out that the machine was unable to be fixed over the phone, I was told that a box should arrive within 3 to 5 days. I asked for a replacement machine, so I don't have to wait another two months to get another one. I guess they can't do that until the repair center authorizes a different one to be shipped. I was informed that they need to ensure the one sent in, can't be fixed right away. After the call was done, I didn't receive any email or notification whatsoever that I had just opened a ticket with them. It's now been a week, and still no email of a box being shipped or response. I called the support center again, and they told me an email would be sent out once the shipping label is created. That would have been nice to know during the first initial call. The support agent informed me that they are experiencing "Technical difficulties", but the email for shipment of the box should arrive in my inbox within a few days." So which one is it, are you having technical difficulties, or will the box be here in a few days. I don't like conflicting answers from support. I wish I could get a full refund, or a brand-new machine. I don't want a machine that breaks once a year, then I'm stuck without it for two months at a time. I didn't pay almost $900 for that level of quality and service. I would not recommend this product to anyone for poor quality and terrible customer support. Hopefully Delonghi can get their act together.

Leaking water all over

It appears a seal in the tank has failed which is unacceptable after such a short period of time. After further research this is apparently a widespread issue for this unit which the manufacturer has not addressed. Very frustrating and disappointing for such an expensve piece of equipment.

Try it as soon as you get home

We have had it for 2 months now and have not been able to get one cup of coffee from it. As soon as we plugged it in the error light came on. I did all of the troubleshooting because you must in order for Delonghi to consider a return or exchange. My husband got this machine for me as a gift and it didn’t work. Since he got it as a gift for me, it sat for a few weeks waiting for him to give it to me. I didn’t have time to set it up for a little over a week and that is when we discovered it didn’t work. We decided to go through the Delonghi since the 30 days had passed to return to Best Buy. Well, I have been waiting on Delonghi for weeks. They wanted my proof of purchase which I sent and had to eventually call them back to say, “What is going on with this?” Now I need to wait on them to send a box to me to put the machine in to send back, wait on them to repair it, then send it back. I do not expect this from an over $800 machine. I probably should have just gone back to Best Buy even though it exceeded the 30 days to see if I could exchange it. I probably would have already been blissfully drinking lattes.

4 machines in 8 months?

Can not generate pressure and leaks steam and water. Customer service is a joke. You have to mail your machine back and wait a few weeks for a replacement. My wife and I have gotten used to keeping back up methods handy.
