Superior Sound, Great Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dolby Atmos through this receiver and my Pioneer Atmos-enabled speakers is unbelievable!! Can't wait to see what DTS-x will be like. I planned on buying the AVR-S910W because I thought the 710 would be under powered for my speaker system. The store didn't have that unit, so I decided to try the 710. Plenty of power. Fantastic sound imaging. Audyssey setup is easy and accurate as in previous Denon receivers. The only negative I have is that the on-screen GUI does not overlay the 4K video pass-through, so if you want to use the menu to look at status or adjust settings with output to 4K TV, the video stream is replaced by a very low-def menu with a black background. Minor irritation, though, because there are smartphone apps available to communicate with the receiver that show status and allow some adjustments.

Good AV Receiver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a good entry level, little tricky with programing and every now and then need to unplug to get the online radio feature to work.

Great receiver at a good price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this receiver to replace a malfunctioning Onkyo unit that was 8 years old. I have this Denon unit set up in a 7.1 configuration using the original Onkyo speakers and it sounds and performs wonderfully. The on-screen guided setup was easy to follow and seems to have configured the speakers well. The unit runs nice and cool and has some great features that more expensive units have such as WiFi and Bluetooth. If you get this receiver, make sure you follow the instructions to do the firmware upgrade once it is set up and connected to your home network. You may need to run it manually from the Setup menu.

Awesome receiver!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to upgrade my receiver from my Onkyo and I could not be happier with my choice! Setting it up was a breeze and it even told me one of my 8 speakers needed to have the red and black connections switched. The included microphone which the system uses to adjust the output to each speaker was a breeze to use and I am more than pleased with the final results! Way to go Denon great job with an amazing product!!

Outstanding receiver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this receiver on Cyber Monday. I was looking to update my JVC receiver I bought in 2000. I had read the reviews, & the price was affordable. The setup was easy with visual setup display on my TV. I love my internet radio, & my spotify connect. The sound on this system is incredible!!! Looking forward to buying a 4k TV to go with this great system. Well worth the money!!!

Awesome!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this receiver a few weeks ago and I love it. It took me about a 1/2 hour to set up. Very easy directions so if I can do it anyone can! The sound is great and I'm very pleased with it. I had an old Kenwood system and finally decided it was time for an upgrade. It was well worth it too. I'd recommend this receiver to everyone.

Very happy with this AVR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm using it in a 5.1 setup, and couldn't be happier. The TV out has back-channel audio support, so my smart TV doesn't need a separate connection for auto. The calibration mic setup was a breeze, and the speaker output is well balanced. My HTPC paired well, and multichannel auto content works. I don't yet have a UHD/4K display, so can't comment as to that aspect. I seem to upgrade my AVRs about every 5-7 years, and this should suite my needs for the foreseeable future.

Very Feature Rich
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This guy rocks ! I use this to power my 5.1 living room plus 12 other speakers around the house (The other 2 channels are passed through a speaker selector box. It allows you to independently turn on and off the second channel with it's own separate volume control. The only thing I have not figured out is how to push stereo to the 5.1 channels and the extra two channels without using the included remote control (All Channels Stereo) for some reason this is not on the android app. The pandora features are very simple and easy to use. All around a great system.

Everything is now connected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just got this today and it is amazing. It allows me to enjoy all of my media in the easiest possible way though my speaker system. Airplay with any IOS device on your network, bluetooth, internet radio and Pandora built in, Spotify through the app with premium, etc. I recommend using the on screen setup and it will guide you to get your audio dialed in perfectly. Afterwards it did a 20 minute wifi firmware upgrade. I strongly recommend downloading the 200+ page user manual from Denon. It's an easy read but it will help you with all of the features of this thing.

Fits my needs well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I set it up without issues. I haven't had a chance to set up the volume with the included tool but even without that, it works great. Only thing I've noticed is I have to set the volume pretty high but it gets as loud as I need it and clear.

Very happy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Always went the HTIB route, but was glad to find this on sale. Paired with a nice set of speakers, I definitely like not having to worry about using an HDMI switch (5 inputs on the receiver), and also enjoy the two zones!

Cheap, Tinny, Sonic, Junk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Denon used to be great stuff, and it's high end products still are. But like the Klipsch Best Buy line, these are very dumbed down, bargain basement, junk, with lots of glitter, Blue Toothe, and Wifi. The sound quality is so gutless and poor, I returned it within two weeks. On the positive, it is very easy to set up and use, just plug it in and hook up your HDMI cables. But I'm running 20 year old Klipsch Forte II's, and Klipsch 250 watt subs in a 5.1 surround setup, and it made it sound like Wal Mart speakers. I was at first amazed at the separation and distribution of your sound source, then appalled at the thin, tinny, cheap, sound, as soon as you asked for it. Folks need to realize how lame these high wattage receivers are, and how a 100 watt per channel Best Buy Denon, will sound like complete junk next to a 40 watt per channel NAD. And they are about the same price! If you want to impress your friends and family, buy an NAD, Anthem, or Cambridge. You can find them for almost the same price as this stuff, just look for reconditioned deals. I've got an old 1994 80 watt per channel Denon Surround receiver that absolutely rocks, MUCH better than Yamaha, Sony, Onkyo. But the new stuff gives no mind to sound quality, only glitter for the ignorant masses. You can buy something much better for the same or a few bucks more.

Good Receiver, Steep Learning Curve!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.BEWARE! I bought this receiver for mainly music then T.V. Works good once you learn your way around. Thing don't need to be this complicated! Huge Manual found online. Once networked was able to control through computer. This made settings a little easier.Very hard to connect to windows med player. Was able to connect to I tunes easily though. You have to deal with I tunes weird format though. Handles Pandora, Sirius XM etc well. Sound is awesome with DVDs and T.V. BUT VIDEO KEEPS CUTTING OUT for a sec.with different input sources. Very annoying! Tried obvious fixes new cables etc no help. Googled it and found others with same prob. No real fix. They think bad HDMI jack. Guess I'll avoid running video through receiver and use an optical line for audio and all will be fine. Kinda lame I have to do this but can't return it now.

Its an OK reciever.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this receiver to go with my new p-series vizio. It came before the TV so i set it up to my current system. I only having a 5.1 setup figuring ill future proof for a bit until i get 7.1 or atmos or something down the road. WRONG. This receiver wants 7.1. You can't use the microphone setup for 5.1 because if it doesn't detect the side surround sound speakers it won't setup the rear surround sound. So i went ahead and spliced over the side right to rear right / side left, rear left as the AVS forum suggested and skipped the microphone setup to try it out but It didn't work. Whenever 7.1 surround would come through (a plane fly over etc) it would cut the amp off completely. So since i can't take advantage of the features on my 5.1 system i returned it, went into BB premier center, and demoed all the amps $700 and under. For the exact same price i settled on the Pioneer Elite VSX90. I am so happy. Not only does this amp support 5.1 / 5.2.2 / 7.1. and 7.2.2 it has so many more DSP features than the Denon did. It also has 3 sperate zones that run their own speakers (the denon only had 1 extra zone and you had to sacrifice your rear speakers for it or go through a 7 steps menu change to change the rear channel from surround to zone 2 and vice versa) After getting home and playing Avatar and the new Star Wars (Back to back comparison) its leaps and bounds better sounding than the Denon. The separation is amazing. So is the clarity. The highs are alot more brighter and crisp the bass and mids are well rounded so the bottoms feel complete and the mids highs feel distinguished. The horns and triangles playing during star wars opening credits sounded like they were in their own space, while the Denon sound like just sound coming out of speakers. On top of all that it runs in 5.1 as it should but i also has all the Dobly Features i need and ATMOS for the future. Also the onscreen menus are way nicer than the Denon, and the feature rich iControlAV5 app for android/iphone that the Denon does not have is feature rich and explains everything the receiver has and controls all of it's bells and whisltes in a nice touch screen. Overall i was a bit disappointed in the Denon. This would of been my 3rd Denon but this Pioneer Elite blew it away in sound, features, and its own app. Overall there was nothing really wrong with the Denon. I'm sure if you want DTSx (which the PE doesn't have) and don't mind average sound than this amp should work good. However for the same money minus the DTSx you get a better sounding, more powerful, louder, receiver with more DSP features and better menus with a nice iphone/app to control it all. Go with the PE you won't be sorry.
